  • Mustang Episode 10 Brake pads & Rotors: On this episode we install our new R1 Concepts front and rear rotors and pads onto my 2015 S550 Ford Mustang GT. The requirement for these were to be able to work on the street as well as on the track. These pads are awesome for dual purpose as they are not loud but definitely have enough stopping power for the Mustang. After a good bedding in period the pads shows great improvement over the pads that came on the car. Over time I will tell you how long they last and how do do over that timeline.

Like any other brake change it is simple and easy but the results are usually really big changes

Rotors installed on the wrong side? Shouldn't slot's "attack" the front of the car as they rotate?

Not necessarily, different manufacturers do it differently. R1 concepts are very good about labeling their rotor sides.

Probably had the cheapest pads from American Muscle on it. I'm still on the orginal brake pads, 58k miles, probably 60 autos events and a few time attacks and only once on A7s did I feel like I needed more brakes. Never with 200tw nor have I ever overheated them. Motul 600 probably prevented most of that

I honestly think they were some autozone super specials hahaha. They had 0 initial bite and felt like death after 2 hard laps. What tires do you normally run?

I autocrossed on Rivals this year. Time attack was rivals except the final event, which was a7s. Next year I'll be time attack on the a7s and autocross on either rt660s or nankang's 200tw (ar1? I can never remember the name)

    Are they lighter than factory?

I didn’t weigh them but I would say no. You would have to go to the 2 pc to get that advantage

I want to use wheel spacers in the front to allow for more camber and better fitment.
