I will be working with a Deaf builder this Spring putting up solar panels on my home. Right now his wife who is also Deaf is coaching me at work once a week for 30 minutes. All of this (which includes your free videos) helps immensely. Had I no Deaf friends I would desperately need to enroll in your course. As it is, I desperately need to watch this video many, many, many times before I work with him. Why should Deaf people have to do all the work to understand hearing folks. I want to make it easier for people I appreciate and love to meet me halfway. Maybe I will be able to become fluent enough as we chat in asl/ASL to go to a Deaf theater productions with them someday. People like you Meredith reinforce making ASL seen more and more as part of normal broadcast/social media programming. My prayer is it will become a commonly spoken language in all of society and not an exception.
There is a hard at hearing girl in my school, and I'm up late tonight hoping to be able to learn some numbers, and conversation starters so I can talk to her. Wish me luck!😪😊
How do we do non-natural numbers? For instance, -17, 3/5, 26.83, 4.3e27, 2+1i . I am working on a physics degree and would love to be able to sign the math conversations you my deaf classmates. On that note, a video talking about signing summations, equations, integrals, derivatives, partial differential equations, the Greek alphabet etc would much be appreciated.
Ok, I may have jummed the gun to calculus, algebra would also be helpful. So, just equations, basic math operations, square root, cube root, squared, cubed, log(x), f(x) e^x, sin(x). An example sentence could be sin^2(theta) + cos^2(theta) = 1
im not deaf or fluent in asl but i do just wanna say i feel like there are some things your gonna have to write down? but i do hope u find you answer! i know that there's a sign for fraction though
this video is genius, i leaned some of the word signs (like hundred, all together; instead of have, some grammar) quite different then you teach them. it’s so interesting to see the small differences in asl grammar depending on where you learned. it’s such an intricate language that it has its on dialects. just like english accents from different places in the world. so freaking interesting.
GREAT!!!!This is very helpful for a beginner like me and my client! Am a public school teacher at the same time a Sunday school teacher in a local church mission but still wanna involve in deaf peoples world to be able to win them to Christ too
Any chance you guys can do TH-cam signs? Such as - *Subscribers, Likes, Algorithm, etc.* I've been wanting to incorporate signs into my gaming channel and I haven't seen a video for TH-cam related signs. Plus, out of all the asl vids I've watched, you guys do the best at teaching it.
How do we not confuse numbers with letters. Like the sign for "F" looks like the sign for "9", or the sign for "6" looks like the sign for "W" and sign for the letter "O" looks like the number "0"
Typically this is just decided in the form of context but if numbers and letters are combine together then it can use the sign letter and number before F and 9 etc.
Thank you so very much for your video. You are a great teacher and I love that on TH-cam I can slow the speed down so I can better see the hand and finger movements and position. 😁
❤PLEASE❤ It would be extremely helpful if you did practice (video shorts)- Of about 5 things at a time. I could just keep it on replay, so my brain doesn't hurt or feel overwhelmed. I am healing from a traumatic brain injury- Thank you from the bottom of my heart. God Bless you.❤ I truly appreciate everything you do for us. ❤❤❤🙏🕊🌟👑💐💐💐
It's 2 am and I am clocked in and at work while everyone else is sleeping. I'm trying to figure out how to communicate with wales via beatboxing. Knowing some ASL probably won't hurt my cause. Thank You ❤
can you make a video about how to sign stuff like "The fourth door on your left down the hall" or "The fifth level of the building" ? thank you for making the content that you do, idk where I would be without it tbh
I just stumbled across this channel today; this is my second video to view. Great content, speaking from a pedagogical work space -- I just know I'll devour this channel's content eventually. I wasn't even looking to learn sign language. One topic would excite me a lot to see a video on: Are there aspects of SL that bring ambiguity to the table that don't seem to exist in verbal language, or at least the indo-european tree? (Not that I'm any less interested in information regarding other language families, by any means!)
I have a question, How do you separate 2 numbers, like 3 and 5 without it looking like 35, is there a pause to separate them or is there a another way, i'm just starting to learn and i don't know too much.
Quick question my friend is deaf so obviously I use sign language to communicate with her. Will she get confused with 0 and o when i’m signing or is there a difference?
I started watching your videos recently. I was wondering if it matters which hand you use ? (st upid question) but I’m interested in learning. Ex: Previous video I watched she did the “forget it” sign and she used her right hand. Im a lefty so I’ll be more likely to use always my left hand, wanted to know if that’ll be a different sign - meaning.
So I work retail and there’s a new girl starting so I want to say pant sizes right so for 0-9 I have my palm facing her but for ex: 12 and 14 do I still have it flipped? In your video the top of the hand was facing the camera instead of the palm. Thanks!!!
I love how she explains the rules on most of them but I’m so confused about the 20s. Why do we sign 21, 23, 25 like that ? Why can’t it be the same way for how we do all the other numbers.
I wonder why in the 20's you have to use your index and thumb instead of just your index and middle finger, but all good. I'm understanding! Numbers was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be.
Deaf person when they see your brand new Jordans: * pushes fists together twice * * then moves their index finger past their nose, not touching, but close * (shoes fake/your Jordan’s are fake XDDDD)
This video is for ALL numbers - not just 1-10. It's very good and concise. For any other language, you would need a much longer video to describe how to say all numbers!
This is confusing me. I was told that when you do numbers 0-5 your palm faces outward and when a number is attached to a noun or object it faces inward. Is that not the case here?
I have a very serious question. I just seen where you charge $50. $50 for a hoodie with love in ASL. While deaf people have made it pretty clear we don't support hearing people teaching ASL we have dealt with it. But this has crossed a line. You are hearing. Do you have any deaf people in your family? You are making money off deaf people. Are you donating that to Gallaudet or any other deaf organization? You can not do this. Not only this you also CHARGE to teach ASL on your website. Deaf people already don't have enough access to it yet you want to charge people? How dare you. I will making videos and spreading this everywhere I can. This is outrageous and the deaf community deserves better

how'd it go?
Numbers are the biggest struggle for me currently but these videos are SO helpful! Thanks Meredith!
That’s great video for the signers to learn the numbers! I’m sure that the signers are very happy about it! Excellent work, Meredith! 😊
I hope so too!
@@LearnHowtoSign Me too! 😊

Did you ever find out if there was signs for non-natural numbers? Just curious :)
Pen and paper at that point
i've been watching for 2 hrs now. I know it may seem redundant to most, but it is reinforcement while you practice/listen to new knowledge.
Good on you for being so disciplined.
Thank you for this video! I’m relearning asl currently, and watching these videos really help refresh my memory. You’re such a good teacher!
You are so welcome!
YESSSSSSS... She's awesome & patient!! I'm currently doing the same🥰
This was SO helpful, as a beginner, your channel has not only helped me begin to learn the language but also kept me practicing!
this video is genius, i leaned some of the word signs (like hundred, all together; instead of have, some grammar) quite different then you teach them. it’s so interesting to see the small differences in asl grammar depending on where you learned. it’s such an intricate language that it has its on dialects. just like english accents from different places in the world. so freaking interesting.
Thank you so much for this video! I run bingo and want to be more inclusive to my deaf residents so they can win prizes too!
You are an excellent teacher, I like that you explain how your hands should be, most of teachers don’t do that
Thanks! Are you having a summer intensive?
Thank you! Yes, we’ll actually be announcing the details really soon. We’re covering ASL 101 and 301
Looks like the number "9" and the letter "F" are the same sign? Does anyone ever get that confused?
"W" and "6" as well
"100" and "X" as well
How do you differentiate F and V from 2 and 9?

Great question!
This is great! Can you please do a video for the number of years? Like how would you sign 1960?
I never knew MILLION could be signed by making a flat M. I appreciate this video, Meredith.
You're welcome. Even still I'm amazed at how many new signs I learn for words I already know a sign for!
Awesome I am learning nicaraguan sign language, the way yuo said 3 here means 8, so nice sign language is so great.... thanks for the video...
How do we not confuse numbers with letters. Like the sign for "F" looks like the sign for "9", or the sign for "6" looks like the sign for "W" and sign for the letter "O" looks like the number "0"

What’s the difference between O & 0 or W & 6 or F & 9 ?
Great teacher
Thank you so very much for your video. You are a great teacher and I love that on TH-cam I can slow the speed down so I can better see the hand and finger movements and position. 😁
Thank you this video taught me immediately! But I'm confused on the difference between 9 and the Letter F do people sign them the same way?
❤PLEASE❤
It would be extremely helpful if you did practice (video shorts)-
Of about 5 things at a time.
I could just keep it on replay, so my brain doesn't hurt or feel overwhelmed.
I am healing from a traumatic brain injury-
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Really appreciated your explanation
This was really helpful! i've had a hard time with my numbers but I get it now!

What is the difference in zero and the letter O

Do you bounce three-digit numbers where all three numbers are the same (222, 555, 777, etc) as well?
u do 2 then the hundred sign then the other two numbers bounced
@@p0cket4rt Awesome, thank you!
" ASL sudoku puzzle book for kids "
I found this book on amazon and bought it for my son, and he love it!
Can I do the same shortcut during 11 what you did in the case of 16?
I have a question, How do you separate 2 numbers, like 3 and 5 without it looking like 35, is there a pause to separate them or is there a another way, i'm just starting to learn and i don't know too much.
So the letter F and the number 9 are the same thing? I'm so confused😭
A lot of these numbers look exactly like the alphabet for finger spelling how do you distinguish
What about when telling time?
Is there a way to sign scientific notation (eg, 1.0*10^3)?
sorry but trying to find out what state your from, so I learn signs in my dialect for IL ty
Quick question my friend is deaf so obviously I use sign language to communicate with her. Will she get confused with 0 and o when i’m signing or is there a difference?
It really depends on the topic you're talking about. If it goes with the topic she will most likely catch on that it's a 0 or a O
Great question! Since you are left handed you will use your left hand.
I'm a lefty... I'm also a liturgical dancer, I use my left hand for EVERYTHING!!
So I work retail and there’s a new girl starting so I want to say pant sizes right so for 0-9 I have my palm facing her but for ex: 12 and 14 do I still have it flipped? In your video the top of the hand was facing the camera instead of the palm. Thanks!!!
Hey, but you said in one of your earlier videos on the same topic that billion is just signed BILL
Yes, BILL is an abbreviation but recorded Billion to include others I have seen used.
This was great!
Thanks!
Is there is anyway that I can get your contact, I am interesting to learn this language deeply
I love how she explains the rules on most of them but I’m so confused about the 20s. Why do we sign 21, 23, 25 like that ? Why can’t it be the same way for how we do all the other numbers.
I see people in tiktok signing what they saying and now signing in asl grammer, is that normal?
I wonder why in the 20's you have to use your index and thumb instead of just your index and middle finger, but all good. I'm understanding! Numbers was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be.
She mentioned to use your dominant hand for signing at like 8 minutes in. I was learning them all on my right (non dominant) hand 😭
спасибо за урок ASL
I know this is a lesson about numbers but why do you have to repeat “me” when saying your age ? “Me” age 35 “me” ?
1:24
DOOOOOOPE!
Okay yeah, this one of the harder topics for me to remember...
Deaf person when they see your brand new Jordans: * pushes fists together twice * * then moves their index finger past their nose, not touching, but close * (shoes fake/your Jordan’s are fake XDDDD)
She gave the address 😮😮😮
i hate my pinky so much i can't sign 6 bc it won't go down

i hope asl isn't as verbose as this video ... had to stop after seeing 12+ minutes for counting 1-10
This video is for ALL numbers - not just 1-10. It's very good and concise. For any other language, you would need a much longer video to describe how to say all numbers!
