    Far too many variables not isolated, different scenes used, no run averages, obvious outliers and other issues like capped frame rate in some of the games. I am not even sure you tried to make the memory timings the same as the kits linked have different timings which make a big difference to performance. Sorry to be negative but this test needs to be way more scientific to be valid as the differences should be waaaaay smaller between kits using the same speeds and same timings in the same benchmarks.

      @ChrisMizo  ปีที่แล้ว +13

      I do appreciate the criticism that there are certain variables with testing pending on how it's tested, certain games were capped to see more stability, and why I've tested multiple other games and this was based on just stock expo, this video was more for those interested in straight out of the box usage and not a deep dive on over clocking. Thank you for watching ✌️

    Fun fact with the DDR5 Gskill ram, they don’t let you mix kits even when they are identical. Found out after a buddy bought two 16GB kits and his PC wouldn’t boot. So you no longer can buy ram kits today and upgrade later down the road with the Gskill Ram not sure about other MFCs but it’s on gskills page.
    Gskill - “Do not mix memory kits. Memory kits are sold in matched kits that are designed to run together as a set. Mixing memory kits will result in stability issues or system failure.”
    No one is talking about it but if the other mfc’s are the same way that needs to be a PSA. No matter though people should know this about GSkill.

      It's common knowledge to not mix RAM kits.
      You can still add additional RAM and it will function normally. You're just not guaranteed stability while using XMP, but it's still possible. I bought a second kit later on for my current build and was able to get XMP stable. I even tightened the timings too.

      problem with DDR5 is that manufacturers are making kits CPU Specific. they are selling kits as Intel XMP *OR* AMD XPO with identical primary timings. Retailers do not always list whether the kit is Intel or AMD specific (usually if it doesn't say then it is an Intel kit). the AMD XPO kits are generally more expensive than their Intel counterparts

      Very late to the party but I'd just like to pitch in and say that this is not necessarily G.Skill's doing. 12th Gen Intel CPUs have had an awful time running 4-DIMMs with DDR5. As Buildzoid said: "It barely functions". So if your buddy was using the XMP profile on the 2-DIMMs, the system was likely to have tried to run it on all 4 and therefore, would not boot. Well known among the enthusiast community.
      Please back your comments up with technical evidence before suggesting we need a PSA. G.Skill's statement does NOT suggest they did anything to block it, it only implies that 4-DIMM DDR5 is much harder to run than 4-DIMM DDR4 at the moment.

    • @ryanocallaghan8833
      @ryanocallaghan8833 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ChrisMizo I think it is misinformed. DDR5 struggles on 4 DIMMs regardless, and the only 4-DIMM kits I have seen released for DDR5 are from Corsair, validated only for Intel 13th Gen CPUs!

      thanks so much for watching and the great compliments! you'll save some money on z690 now since many manufacturers will be trying to offload them, z790 for full optimization of 13th gen power is also a great option, but if it were me I'd go z790 especially coming through an outdated system and will help future proof your PC 👌😁

      I went Z790, 13700KF and ddr5 5200 CL40 RAM.
      The ram was cheap and I'm upgrading it later to 6000 CL30. 13600K should be fine as the 700K definitely feels overkill right now and they're not too far apart in performance.
      I'd probably recommend a second hand GPU in good condition if you can get one. I got a 3060 for 1080P gaming fkr £300. I'd say 4070ti or another similar performance card with 12GB VRAM minimum for 2K gaming and will run most games well in 4K. 4080 or 4090 for good 60fps 4K gaming in everything unfortunately lol ideally 16GB VRAM minimum.
      But it all depends on the games you want to play and any that might come out in the next few years. 2K is a nice sweet spot to not have to buy the top range components while not being painful compared to 4K, but the cards are limited to minimum of 3080 and 4070 to be able to play all games I'd say due to VRAM limitations on the 8GB cards, such as spiderman, diablo 4, hogwarts legacy and a few other recent or upcoming games.

  • @ViciousXUSMC
    @ViciousXUSMC ปีที่แล้ว +1

    In pictures/videos the GSkill looks more vibrant and saturated while the Corsair looks more milky and pastel.
    You said the Corsiar is brighter so maybe this is just an effect to the camera not being exposed well for how bright the LEDs are.
    Would you say that in person there is a difference in the quality of the LED, not necessarily the brightness.
    I am more concerned with color accuracy, saturation, contrast, and the number of leds for aRGB effects.
    I like a sharp look (more fiber optic) not super diffused as long as you cant see individual leds.
    I have a 2x32GB GSkill Trident Z Neo kit right now DDR5 6000 but kind of thinking about getting the Corsair 2x48GB kit as GSkill does not offer a DDR5 6000 kit for 96GB and the Corsair is on my motherboards approved list (even though its sold as Intel memory) there are 96GB kits from GSkill but they cost more , are not on my compatibility list and are only in speeds faster than DDR5 6000 and that is kind of a waste on AM5 where 6000 is the sweet spot and offers the best timings.
    There is some generational differences the old Trident was 4 LED but from what I can tell the new stuff is 8 LED while the Vengeance is 10 LED.

    • @ChrisMizo
      @ChrisMizo  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You’ll notice the Corsair LEDs are much more brighter as Gskill is much more dim, the color accuracy you would have to rely on the motherboard manufacturer such as ASUS or MSI in order to reach the color you would like to receive.
      I’d say a more fiber optic look would be Corsair’s as it’s much more contrasted and exposed compared to Gskill where it almost seems to attempt to mimic the color of your choice and is a bit dull.
      Hopefully this helped out!

    • @ViciousXUSMC
      @ViciousXUSMC ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ChrisMizo Ok thank you, I have both on order but the specs of the GSkill are better so I'll probably go with the specs more so than the looks. Huge lie, Corsair have stability issues, specially in AMD CPUs, the 1% lows are abysmal on Corsair, going so low as 10 fpss compared to G. Skill 80 fpss, more people should talk about G. Skill having more stability and better price over Corsair, not just, "I got higher fpss.", yeah, but they are all over the place dude, way to have an unsmooth experience.

    No, that's not true. Ever since DDR ran at 100 Mhz, they decided to start a marketing BS to report speeds in bytes (not 32 bit words) so suddenly it became DDR1-400. Then every generation they pump 2x the data back for every request in a 2x longer transaction and double the bullshit name. So DDR1-400 = DDR2-800 = DDR3-1600 = DDR4-3200 = DDR5-6400. All those speeds are PRECISELY IDENTICAL 100 MHZ X 4 BYTES! With DDR1 you got 4 bytes, then DDR2 = 8 bytes (2 clocks of 4 bytes each), then 16 bytes (4 clocks of 4 bytes each), then 32 bytes (8 clocks of 4 bytes each), now DDR5 = 64 bytes (16 clocks of 4 bytes each). All that is changing is that the cache line returned is 2x larger in back-to-back 4 byte bursts, which gives a 2x bigger marketing number, but not much of an improvement in processor performance since the 4-byte bursts are still roughly 10ns apart (100 Mhz), maybe a tiny bit less than 10ns at the highest performance DRAM. Each generation does NOT give faster memory, its to make the memory cheaper. So if you had DDR4-3200 you have to buy DDR5-6400 to have a prayer of a faster computer.

    Greetings sir. Is it good to use DDR4 RAM with Intel Alder Lake? My purpose is to do 4K gaming, 1080p live streams, vector artwork, image editing and video editing.
    Recently I spent a week for sleepover in my friend's house. His PC is a very decent one with 32GB 3600MHz CL14. I tried all my works in his PC to know if the RAM is sufficient or not but the results are like most of the times 32GB of RAM was having a very little of headroom left. Windows task manager says it's being utilized upto 90%.
    When I game all launchers are open in background, discord is open so that I can VC or just post some epic moment or snapshots, OBS Studio and Clownfish voice changer needs to be open sometimes too.
    So, multitasking is a daily routine of me and during that 1 week, I learned that maybe 32GB is not so favorable for heavy multitasker like me. On top of that there's no 64GB, 128GB or 256GB kits in DDR5.

    • @ChrisMizo
      @ChrisMizo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Deathstriker, being a streamer either DDR4 or DDR5 will work well for you, DDR4 is still a excellent standard to use, 32GB shouldn't be a issue to use temporarily, I'd give it a shot a few more times with only your required software such as OBS, clownfish, Discord etc if you need more just go with 64 GB. The more RAM you have can also have a impact on your gameplay. Hopefully this helped Deathstriker!

      I have both. The Corsair is better IF you want RGB control. The Corsair sticks have hardware lighting controls that does NOT require stupid RGB software. The G.Skill NEEDS the stupid software otherwise it'll default to rainbow. But the G. Skill looks cooler especially in white.

    DDR5 6000 36 36 36 is probably among the worst DDR5 you can buy. First, the 36 timings is a dead giveaway that it's Samsung memory. SkHynix M die is far superior. Second, Samsung DDR5 is fairly consistent a 5600 c36 kit uses the exact same memory chips, just buy that instead and increase the clocks to 6000. That is if you absolutely for whatever reason want to go with Samsung

      @@cutipustotallus307 On DDR4, sure I'd get Samsung b die over everything else. But for DDR5 - Not so much.
      SkHynix A die is by far the best chips you can buy due to their insane speed potential, you can do like 8000cas38 without going crazy on the voltage.
      SkHynix M die comes in second, obviously not as fast as A die, but significantly cheaper, still a good option nonetheless. I'd stay away from Samsung due to their very odd behavior when selecting your timings. Stability can be a major issue with those chips.
