  • Ever since I bought my house I've been meaning to go to Sundborn and visit Carl and Karin Larsson's artist home in Dalarna. I had never been to the region and to me, this is the heart of Sweden. It has always been Swedish (unlike the part where I live in Skåne that was Danish until a few hundred years ago) and there are many things from these parts that are so Swedish. Red houses, Dala horses, traditional midsummer celebrations and costumes and let's not forget the people of Dalarna.
I found a B&B outside of the city centre but in the middle of the UNESCO site of the old industrial copper mine area called Polhem B&B which I can recommend due to it's location and fair prices (only shared bathrooms but there is a bookable sauna). Link here: polhembedandbreakfast.se/ (not sponsored).
We spent three days away and also made sure to check out the other local sights like a guided tour in the copper mine, Falun city centre, Museum of Dalarna and Linne's Wedding Cottage (Sweden's most famous scientist owned this house in the 18th Century and had his and his wife's wedding celebrations here).
Here is the list of all the awesome sights we saw, I can recommend all of them:
    - Falun copper mine area -the industrial site on the surface and the guided tour in the mine
    - Elfsborg area in Falun with streets after streets with traditional red painted houses
    - Dalarna Museum with the collections of Dala paintings, Dala horses and textiles/costumes as the hightlights.
    - Sundsborn, both Lilla and Stora Hyttnäs (Lilla Hyttnäs is the Larsson's family home)
    - Carl von Linné's Wedding Cottage
SO sorry again for the dirty lens. I spent a whole month filming things and creating content without time to edit anything at the time. So I never saw how bad it was. I have tried to remove some of it when editing but it's not easy. I have learnt from this and I am not doing it anymore, I assure you. I hope you can se past it :-/

I love the ornate decoration of the cabinets and the artistic look. Beautiful. I wish people still put that craftship in everything now.

I love the style of Carl and Karin Larsson,; I'm happy to learn that they were in France interested in the impressionist movement! Their house and garden are some sweets!
