I build and finish/refinish guitars and a while back I discovered a paint called "Ironlak" (brand name) that's marketed to mural/graffiti artists and intended for outdoor applications. It's pretty tough paint. Resistant to UV and extreme temperatures. It might hold up better on a gun than the garden-variety paint that you buy at Home Depot. It's available at art supply and hobby stores. I think Hobby Lobby carries it.
I thought people took care of their expensive tools. Just because it's a tool does not mean you just drag it around and wear it faster than being careful with it. I take good care and am careful with my chainsaw, my zero turn mower, my car and my guns.
I painted my handguard on my AR wolf grey and i ordered the primer, smoke grey spray paint, and the matte acrylic varnish online from a company called "mtn graffiti Spray paint". After seeing the results I strongly recommend anyone planning to spray paint their weapon to get the prep and paint from MTN. Everyone thinks my handguard came cerakoted from the factory lol no one even believes i spray painted it. Their paint dries quickly, they come with way better spray nozzles, they have those hard to find colors you can't find anywhere else, and they're actually cheaper than the spray oaint you get in stores.
I painted my CZ P10S AND MY RUGER OD GREEN ALSO A FEW MONTHS BACK FIRST TRIP TO THE RANGE HAD A FAILURE TO FIRE WHIT THE CZ BROKE IT DOWN OILED IT AND IT'S BEEN GREAT MY RUGER AS WELL 💥
Personally, I would never paint my pistol specifically if I’m going to carry it. I’m not giving myself any chance for it to fail. That being said, I am considering doing this to my AR15. Great video 👍🏼 What kind of paint do you use?

What kind of paint do you use?
The paint i use is entirely dependent on what I'm working on. I have at least 6 brands I go back and forth with.
Where you located ? Louisiana?
