Has anyone else noticed that each faction has it's own 'death effects'? The underworld army monsters explode into purple wisps, the forces of nature burst into green-yellow sparkles, and so on. Even the space pirates, despite only appearing in one level, had their own unique death effects. It's just a little detail that I really liked.

And the game doesn't try to sugar coat it, the wish seed calls attention to it directly, humanity absolutely would trample anything including itself in pursuit of its personal desires, third world countries get ravaged for resources and control, politicians cannibalize one another while making crooked deals under the table, religious and charitable organizations exploit peoples good nature for profit. Its sick, and it will take literally nothing short of divine intervention to correct it or an inevitable ecological disaster that makes the planet near entirely uninhabitable...

Viridi knows what's up. All she's trying to do is bring the Earth back to nature, but she just doesn't think humans can be reasoned with. She's better than Hades or Medusa, at least.
I love Viridi's character as a foil to Palutena. Palutena loves humanity, but readily admits its flaws. (She isn't surprised in the least at how Humanity is killing itself for the wish, yet she still believes in the good of humanity). Viridi despises humanity, seeing them as the enemy of nature, but fails to acknowledge there is still good in them. Most of all, Viridi holds ALL of humanity responsible for the sins of a few. (You think every soldier there is fighting for themselves? They were sent by their lords and kings.) Ultimately, although Viridi's intentions are pure... her methods are why she's an enemy.
Viridi is just awesome ❤, I love her in this game for making a bratty and constantly annoyed character to be a great force in the narrative that everyone can enjoy
Credit to the modelers: it's not often you meet a character in 2D cartoon/anime-ish form and then also find their 3D animation equally as appealing. In the case of Viridi, they're both amazingly adorable. For once, I may actually prefer the 3D model.

I absolutely love the dialogues and characters in this game. Unfortunately my brother sold my copy when I left for uni. But now that I'm back home I plan to buy another copy to play for myself~
Ah, coming back to this series over a decade later, and I have reached the chapter that introduces my all time favorite Kid Icarus character, Viridi! I love this little goddess despite her hating humanity. She’s got an amazing personality and design, and not to spoil anyone watching through for the first time, she only gets better from here. There’s a reason they included her as a part of those character bio things with Pit and Palutana in Smash. God if there is ever another KI game, she better be there in some form.
You know, Chuggaa, I personally don't think you're the only one who feels that way. I mean, this is quite a huge turning point in the story in that it brings in another antagonist in addition to Hades.
Rewatching this series, I hope they make another Kid Icarus game like it. It's got such a great personality about it and I would love to simply see more interaction between the characters.
Those Reset bombs could actually be useful. I would help us to restore parts of the earth. Though we would need to move all the people out of the area before using them.
Although the writing and plot of this game is acceptable and nothing to be sneezed at, and while Viridi's intentions are clear, her motives make no sense. Outside of caring for offspring, and maybe the rare occasion of adoption or whatnot, humans are literally the only thing on earth that cares or even considers others outside of it's immediate circumstance. I mean sure, humans do cause a lot of global strife and chaos, but we're also the only ones who put that strife and chaos to rest, preaching both bedlam and tranquility.
I know this comment is 4 years old, but I’d like to use this comment to share my thoughts on a dead game. If you still use this account you can just ignore this i’m only here to talk about Viridi Obviously Viridi goes way too far with her nature nuke, but i think her motives are cut and dry. As the goddess of nature, she wants to do whatever necessary to keep nature in balance. Inarguably, nature’s biggest threat is humanity. So it makes sense why she’d want them gone.

Streetpass isn't nearly as good for someone who doesn't live in Japan or New York City. The odds of meeting other people who just happen to have their DS/3DS set for streetpasses goes down quite a bit.
I honestly agree with Viridi on some fronts. Humans do trample on the rights of other living things. Einstein said: "Only two things are infinite, the universe, and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the universe." A good amount of humans are quite stupid if you think about it. Not everyone mind you, but still, it's nice to see that Nentendo has recognized this fact.
What I find funny is that, for someone presented as a villain, Viridi is the only character you see more than once but never actually fight. Including Pit.
One thing I like about Viridi, especially as a villain, is the fact that she takes your moral high ground. When fighting the underworld, it is a clear "us vs them" plot, and you ARE the good guys. However, with Viridi, she makes all the valid points. Every word she says in this chapter makes sense, and her morals are clear. Humanity would cause wars over fake wishes, humanity does destroy the Earth, and humanity is extremely wasteful. Palutena... Not so much. She makes the point that humans are living beings, but we've driven at least 10,000 other species to extinction already! And then "we seek to defend the Earth and heavens from those who seek their destruction." Umm, shouldn't that put you on Viridi's side, not humanity's. "Humans are the closest to the gods." Well duh! OF COURSE we are closest to our portrayals of Gods, because the type of image we portray of an all-powerful being would be of ourselves. Another example of human selfishness! "Gods have no right to intervene" Uh, wouldn't being a God mean you have rights to do anything, since you're tasked with creation. "But wiping out humanity is NOT the answer!" Pit, do you have a better option? Viridi being the one who is moral comes up again in chapter 13, and the ch18-22 shenanigans that follow. She was the one in the right, and we were the villains who refused to change. If the game provided an option to let Viridi wipe out humanity [and fight Hades and Palutena] I would take it.

"In a few months, this place will be full of green" Sure, it would suck for city-dwellers (but rats have survived for 100+ million years longer than us) but after a few months, the reset bomb will change the landscape to a highly biodiverse area. "Humans can change". I'll write that off as blatantly false, citing the stupidity in the USA. (and the old taking priority in brexit, and the world failing to meet climate goals) Humans don't like change, even if it's for the best. Thus, we probably won't do what we're told.

"This place will be completely covered in green" If you think that it would destroy food chains and stuff like that, she could of just been specifying the ecosystem they were in. The reset bomb COULD not be pushing trees around. What I'm trying to say is if that the ecosystem they were in used to be the "Flowers blooming" "Trees growing" and green everywhere, the Reset Bomb could be setting it back to that. Say it was snow, ice, and tundras, and then humans came and changed it to just rubbish with barely any form of nature left, the Reset Bomb could change it back to the tundras and stuff. I think that "trees growing" "flowers blooming" is mistake for stereotypical wildlife environment.
***** Ok, Viridi is the goddess of nature, right? She'd be able to "reverse" the habitat, as it's associated with what she is the goddess of. She doesn't fully take control of it, as she is only reversing it. Time has more uses than stopping and reversing.

Viridi is just adorable. In a completely insane way. Usually having one eye clearly more open than the other somehow makes her seem even crazier.

I absolutely adore Viridi :3 She's my favorite character in this whole game.
You know, Chuggaa, I personally don't think you're the only one who feels that way. I mean, this is quite a huge turning point in the story in that it brings in another antagonist in addition to Hades.
Rewatching this series, I hope they make another Kid Icarus game like it. It's got such a great personality about it and I would love to simply see more interaction between the characters.

Although the writing and plot of this game is acceptable and nothing to be sneezed at, and while Viridi's intentions are clear, her motives make no sense. Outside of caring for offspring, and maybe the rare occasion of adoption or whatnot, humans are literally the only thing on earth that cares or even considers others outside of it's immediate circumstance. I mean sure, humans do cause a lot of global strife and chaos, but we're also the only ones who put that strife and chaos to rest, preaching both bedlam and tranquility.

Obviously Viridi goes way too far with her nature nuke, but i think her motives are cut and dry. As the goddess of nature, she wants to do whatever necessary to keep nature in balance. Inarguably, nature’s biggest threat is humanity. So it makes sense why she’d want them gone.

Streetpass isn't nearly as good for someone who doesn't live in Japan or New York City. The odds of meeting other people who just happen to have their DS/3DS set for streetpasses goes down quite a bit.
For my case, I bring my 3ds to London to do streetpass, mainly the conventions like Comic con.
I honestly agree with Viridi on some fronts. Humans do trample on the rights of other living things. Einstein said: "Only two things are infinite, the universe, and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the universe." A good amount of humans are quite stupid if you think about it. Not everyone mind you, but still, it's nice to see that Nentendo has recognized this fact.
To confirm it, yes, Mistress Viridi personally named all of her troops. Aren't they adorable?!
What I find funny is that, for someone presented as a villain, Viridi is the only character you see more than once but never actually fight.
Including Pit.
One thing I like about Viridi, especially as a villain, is the fact that she takes your moral high ground. When fighting the underworld, it is a clear "us vs them" plot, and you ARE the good guys.
However, with Viridi, she makes all the valid points. Every word she says in this chapter makes sense, and her morals are clear. Humanity would cause wars over fake wishes, humanity does destroy the Earth, and humanity is extremely wasteful.
Palutena... Not so much. She makes the point that humans are living beings, but we've driven at least 10,000 other species to extinction already! And then "we seek to defend the Earth and heavens from those who seek their destruction." Umm, shouldn't that put you on Viridi's side, not humanity's. "Humans are the closest to the gods." Well duh! OF COURSE we are closest to our portrayals of Gods, because the type of image we portray of an all-powerful being would be of ourselves. Another example of human selfishness! "Gods have no right to intervene" Uh, wouldn't being a God mean you have rights to do anything, since you're tasked with creation. "But wiping out humanity is NOT the answer!" Pit, do you have a better option?
Viridi being the one who is moral comes up again in chapter 13, and the ch18-22 shenanigans that follow. She was the one in the right, and we were the villains who refused to change. If the game provided an option to let Viridi wipe out humanity [and fight Hades and Palutena] I would take it.

When it comes to the side effects of a reset bomb, Viridi clearly states that such effects are temporary. "In a few months, this place will be full of green" Sure, it would suck for city-dwellers (but rats have survived for 100+ million years longer than us) but after a few months, the reset bomb will change the landscape to a highly biodiverse area.
"Humans can change". I'll write that off as blatantly false, citing the stupidity in the USA. (and the old taking priority in brexit, and the world failing to meet climate goals) Humans don't like change, even if it's for the best. Thus, we probably won't do what we're told.

Side effects: Well, consider the side effects of letting humans live. I feel that risk is a lesser of two evils.
People making a difference: Sure, some people are changing. However, it's not enough to counter the fact that we are still emitting more CO2 than ever before!
Trying to raise a point, She said that it doesn't harm natural habitats or wildlife at all.
"This place will be completely covered in green" If you think that it would destroy food chains and stuff like that, she could of just been specifying the ecosystem they were in.
The reset bomb COULD not be pushing trees around. What I'm trying to say is if that the ecosystem they were in used to be the "Flowers blooming" "Trees growing" and green everywhere, the Reset Bomb could be setting it back to that. Say it was snow, ice, and tundras, and then humans came and changed it to just rubbish with barely any form of nature left, the Reset Bomb could change it back to the tundras and stuff.
I think that "trees growing" "flowers blooming" is mistake for stereotypical wildlife environment.

Ok, Viridi is the goddess of nature, right? She'd be able to "reverse" the habitat, as it's associated with what she is the goddess of. She doesn't fully take control of it, as she is only reversing it. Time has more uses than stopping and reversing.
