My life has been in a whirlwind for the past few months. I was diagnosed last week after months of tests with MEN-1. It’s rare and incurable. I started losing weight without trying then it’s progressed and I haven’t been able to eat much or stop the weight loss. I’m continuing to pray for you Peter. I would appreciate your prayers. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

@@PeterMRiley You might have Irritable Bowel syndrome (IBS) or Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), Crohns Disease or Celiac Disease which are all digestive conditions, It also could be certain food you are eating that's causing your symptoms, You could be Gluten or Lactose intolerant or maybe your body doesn't absorb fat which could be another problem, read up about it, there's plenty of information out there.

PETER!!!!! It's so good to see and update from you! I'm sorry to hear about the ongoing issues, and I think you're on the right path to research, learn, and help yourself. A little tip on the Vitamin D3; it has to be taken with Vitamin K2, otherwise, it won't be absorbed/utilized. Post cancer, I take 15,000iu of D3 per day, with K2. That's put my D level in the 80-something range. Fermented foods are considered to have the most "active" probiotics in them, so you might look into that, and find something you enjoy. It would also be very high in fiber, if that's something that would help you with the bile.
A year's time is not very long in the world of cancer recovery. Especially with significant, body function, altering surgery like you've had. You're dealing with a ton of toxins in your body (detoxing with Chlorella would be a good idea), the healing/refunctioning/etc. related to the surgery, and the altered body function due to the surgery.....it's a long road. Been there, done that, have the T-shirt. Best things you can do: Detox, eat mostly raw (uncooked) plant based (dip raw vegetables in guacamole), probably go gluten free as much as possible, and really focus on foods with really high nutrition, while avoiding things like rice/potatoes (except sweet potatoes), corn and corn products, dairy, and literally anything processed. Takes a hot minute to get used to shopping that way, but soon stops becoming "I just go around telling myself no all the time" and starts becoming, "I get to eat all of this!!!" It won't take long for you to notice significant changes.
Keep after it my friend!! You've got this!!

It's good to see you out and about Peter. I am not surprised you are finding solutions for your stomach issues, since you pretty much diagnosed your type of cancer before the doctors confirmed your suspicions. Sometimes it does require trying new supplements, something my son does as his stomach isn't always his friend. And it can get expensive, so your comments resonated with me. That said, it looks like you are in a good place mentally and moving into a better place physically. Very glad to hear this.

Every once in a while I think Peter hasn’t posted lately and boom, there you are!😂it’s great that you’re able to do more now. In a few weeks I’m going to have my fourth surgery for Neuroendocrine Carcinoid Cancer. It’s been delayed since March of this year. I was diagnosed March 1,2020 so I completely understand your concern about not being close to a bathroom. So far my liver hasn’t had any cancer but my appendix, small intestine, half my colon as well as many lymph nodes. I also had a preventative gallbladder removal with my colon removal. I’m still having digestive issues and have to be extremely careful with the foods I eat. My Oncologist and Endocrinologist told me bile salts only help with pancreatic nets but if they work for you that’s great. I still have to take the monthly injection of Octreotide and I discovered they have a quick acting ampule that you can inject yourself with in an emergent situation and it’s been an incredible tool to have in my bag of remedies. I think also psychologically it makes me feel safer being out as well. Anyways I thought I’d let you know it’s available. Also increasing fiber intake & the other things you mentioned. Since I’m also on chemotherapy my whole digestive track is a nightmare but before I started the fast acting Octreotide (Somatostatin)was helping me along with the long acting and being very careful of what I eat. Unfortunately because I have MENS 2 I will have to have these injections for the rest of my life. Or until a new therapy is found. Were you checked to see if you have MENS? I don’t remember if you mentioned it. Anyways enjoy the beautiful day😊it’s beautiful here in Canada today as well. Take care.

Hi Natalie. I've never been tested for MENS to be honest.
It's definitely an adventureat times being out and about with my current digestive system!
Best wishes for your upcoming operation, and any treatment you have in your future.

@@PeterMRiley I think you need to get tested because we carry a higher chance of getting medullary thyroid cancer(the deadliest and rarest type)I tested positive and I have 3 kids so since it’s genetic they all need to be tested as well as be educated about this rare disease for their health. Most people choose a prophylactic removal of their thyroid but it also depends on which MENS it is. Thanks and I wish you good health as well. Take care.

Hang in there and be patient with yourself. I was diagnosed with PNETs that spread from pancreas to liver about 18 months ago. Mine is not operable. However, I have been on lanreotide and that has helped so much with the discomfort. 19 years ago, I had my gallbladder out (unrelated issue I think). I really had to relearn how to eat. Avoiding fats really helps me. Also, I have learned that the lanreotide makes digesting fiber extremely difficult. I don't know if you are on any medication after the liver resection that might be aggravating your condition. I will pray that you feel better. I love to run and play tennis, so I completely understand wanting to be out there competing. I am still jogging (although slowly) and playing tennis and am loving every minute I can do it. Blessings to you from the US....

    • @PeterMRiley
      @PeterMRiley  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Hi Jennifer. I'm glad you're getting some relief from the lanreotide. I was taken off lanreotide recently as I was one year post liver resection. I think that's added to the confusion inside my body!
All the best and definitely keep getting out on that court when you can. Tennis is such a great sport. It was the main sport I played growing up and still watch it when I can.

Exercise may be good in moderation but it does drop the body temperature (after the body cools down take your temperature: it will be lower than before you started) so perhaps those who have a body temperature that is often on the low side should tread with caution when it comes to chronic, punishing exercise.
Supplements can be dangerous and some of them have been linked to various cancers; sometimes it's good to give the body a break from supplements (it's best to wean oneself off) to see whether one's health doesn't improve.
Someone on a diet comprised of mostly whole foods (in moderation) with a little bit of what one fancies thrown in for good measure may show low levels of certain vitamins and minerals; be careful that it is not simply a case of the body not storing what it doesn't need.
Each person is different with different nutritional needs so what applies to one person may not apply to someone else.

Ask your doctor to prescribe Cholestyramine. That will solve the bile salt diarrhea. The supplements don’t help and are a waste of money in my opinion. When I had my gallbladder out I had the same problem and did the supplements thing too. The cholestyramine gave me my life back. After a number of years I was able to wean off it and now I can eat anything I want with no digestive problems. I never thought I’d see the day but there you are. Have you thought about going to see an Ayurvedic doctor/clinic? All disease start in the gut so it’s important that you get it looked at - maybe panchakarma which is a deep tissue detox and a whole new resetting could be good? I was able to heal a auto immune disease with Ayurveda within 2 weeks my symptoms were gone - 4 weeks later I had build enough strength in my body to do panchakarma and 7 years later I have had no symptoms. If you go your research Ayurveda makes a lot of sense because we are all different mixes of constitutions and we all get out of balance. Clearly since you developed cancer your body was imbalanced before and now you had quite aggressive surgeries and I’m believing that your headaches could come from that same imbalances…same with your sinuses! It’s worth looking into and compared to other things out there it’s quite affordable and if you could take time off maybe even a 3 weeks stay in India would be a good reset. Just want to throw it out there as a lot of symptoms make sense from what I have learned from Ayurveda over the years. And being a mother of 5 children we have cured quite some amazing things with the help of Ayurveda. Auto immune disease, my husband who could never loose weight even though he was very active was able to loose 20 kg and keep it off as it helped calm his nervous system, autism, adhd, drug addiction to name some. It might not be for you but I just wanted to throw it out there as I think a holistic view on what your body has been going through could be the answer for you. Good luck 🍀
