Is this exactly the same procedure if 1 our genuine Ducati keys works and we are adding a new spare genuine (uncoded) key (which was misplaced) . Thanks
I lost one of my keys for my 2014 Ducati Monster 796. I looked all over to get it replaced, no one could do it, not even the dealer who said it was impossible without the 5-digit code. I bought my Ducati from that very dealer, they never gave me a card with a 5-digit code. You're supposed to get that card and two black keys, I just got the keys. The usual way to get it replaced is buy a blank key from Ducati for $90, then have a locksmith laser-cut the key (another $40-$50), then you can (have Ducati or do it yourself) program the newly laser cut key with the bike using the 5-digit code on the card. Without that card you're basically SOL. Without any keys or card, you need to replace the entire gauge panel, ignition, etc. - $2000-$3000!! There is another way, it is called the Ducati Key Clone, a knowledgable locksmith can use the remaining key you have to duplicate another functional key (laser-cut and programmed). Only one locksmith in Phoenix area can do it - ALCATRAZ LOCKSMITH (602) 677-5045 ask for Todd Hagan. It took him 10 minutes - fully functional key at about $100. He can even do it w/o any keys, but it would be considerably more expensive, but not the $2000+ Ducati price.
our hyperstrada had fault EXVL.. so we send the bike to a shop claiming they can clear the fault .. (referred by friend) when they hook up their scan tool .. they cannot clear fault ,and to make things worst the cluster indicators, signal lights front and rear. tail lights are all blinking alternately kinda like a police car blink... what could be the cause and what does the bike is doin? wont start now.. no crank.please help

Hi, I recently purchased a 796, the bike was running well, I fitted aftermarket indicators with the incorrect globes, the engine management light is now on, the fault says CAN,, could this be the indicators ?? or where should i look < thanx

It is very similar. I have not had a chance to setup our Hyper dash. I think there may be a different button to push to get it into program mode. But, I cannot remember for sure. Play with it a little bit. You cannot damage it.

both keys must have unique and valid electronic codes in them. It will depend on how the aftermarket key has been programmed. If it has a valid code in the electronic chip (transponder) then it will work.

Up until 2013, the immobilizer system that was used in the Monster line was the I2K system. This was true for Monsters 696 from year 2009 to 2013, true for Monsters 796 from year 2010 to 2013. After 2013, Ducati switched the immobilizer system to the I2K-2 system. This system only comes with the immobilizer and 2 black keys. 2 black keys with removable transponders for the 2015-2016 Ducati Monster 821 and 2014-2016 Monster 1200. There is also the 2 black keys without a removable transponders that Ducati mentions only for the Scrambler, but forgets to mention the 2014 Ducati Monster 696 ABS and probably for the 2014 Ducati Monster 796 as well. I currently have a 2014 Ducati Monster 696 ABS, and CAN confirm that my bike never came with a "Code card", but with only 2 black keys. The owner's manual as well as the dealer also confirmed this. The 2013 Ducati Monster 696 owner's manual does reference a "Code card" but this has been removed in the 2014 version.

You will need 2 keys to register if you buy a "NEW" cluster. However, if you do not have a code card, we recommend getting a key set with code card before doing this. This is available at keysforducati.com
Hi. There is an IMMO error lights on my Ducati Monster 696 and it doesnt start the engine. i dont have the Code card. I only have a key without chip (lost it and tried to start the engine without chip), Can I get this code from the dash and program new key?

you have to have 2 OEM keys or correct and unique aftermarket keys to do this procedure.
OK can you clarify this for me?? I have a 2008 848 with one Key that already turns the bike 0n. So what I would need is another key with chip in it??

The 2014 Ducati Monster 696 Immobilizer system is the I2K-2 and does not come with a code card.
Sorry, you are incorrect. You are referring to the 2014 Monster 821 and 1200. The 796 is still on the old system.
