I loved the style of this video! It was so lovely and felt like a really gentle chat about the ship and your experiences but didn't feel like it rambled on or anything like that. My fiance and I are sailing on Sun in March 2025 for our honeymoon and I can't wait!
Hi, loved the video. Would you go on the Sun again or choose the new Star? We’re going to go with Princess and do one of these 2. We do have Celebrity booked for Jan of ‘25 and Jan of ‘26, but are looking to try Princess in Jan of ‘27. Should we do Star or Sun? Thanks so much.😊 Did I hear you say, "no transatlantic for Star"?
We did say no transatlantic for Star, but what we meant was not from Southampton, which is what it was originally going to do. If we had to just choose the one, then we'd go for Star, given we've already been on Sun, but they've changed so much since we did, we'd happily go on either of them.
@@SuiteNatured Thank you for your reply, I must add that our other consideration was on the Regal. Would you still recommend the new class? Thanks, love your videos.
17:45 That LED screen in the middle. Does it play movies during the day or does it just display scenic views only? Is it a static image or a moving video?
It is a moving image display, as well as the whole thing actually moves too. It creates a big entrance way for some of the acts, and goes into an arch type structure too, it is very impressive. The movies it was, were similar to what they show in the dome that we saw, which were videos of the port we were in. During the shows they use the screen very effectively as part of the show (like you see in the main theatre)
Our first Princess cruise will be a Christmas sailing this year, can’t wait! Thank you for the detailed review. Can you tell me if the “special bits” in the Eatery (8:04) count towards the 2 casual meals if you have Princess Plus?
Tha k you Kikky, have an amazing at Christmas. Those special options in the Catch By Rudi part of the Eatery don't count towards th two casual meals. If you have premier you can have them as often as you like, if you have plus or nothing then they are 5.99 each. Hope this helps. Linzi and Mark
I wouldn't like to go on a ship where you have to pay extra to access different areas. I don't like big ships anyway, but I know a lot of people like Princess. Do they have mocktails for non-drinkers?
Unfortunately the Ship Within A Ship element seems to be becoming more and more common Joan. To be fair to Princess, there is really only the Sanctuary that is for the new class, everywhere else is open to everyone. And yes they have a huge range of Mocktails on Princess.
@@SuiteNatured When I used to sail with my daughter who was under drinking age she used to get the soft drinks package. She tried every Mocktail they had and then the bar staff would modify them to her specific requests, more lime, extra pineapple etc.
She looks fantastic and we look forward to sailing on her at some point in the future, the transatlantic in Sept looks very tempting but is perhaps one cruise too many in 2024 for us, maybe 2025 will be our year to try her. Not sure we'll part with $150 pp for Spellbound, we'll leave that one to those with deeper pockets.
A transatlantic on Sun or Star would be fantastic as you would get a chance to really enjoy the ship without the distractions of ports. Do consider Spellbound though, it really is VERY good.
Love your videos and you’ve made me rethink taking another princess cruise. I’ve taken a couple of them to Alaska, and then moved on to others that I prefer. This new ship looks amazing but I agree without all of the entertainment in place it’s hard to get it a true score
Thank you so much Gina (sorry for the late reply), and it is definitely worth considering and very different to the other Princess ships. It will be a bit odd for us, as we are doing the reverse and going on Ruby Princess in Alaska in a few weeks, so will have to get used to an older ship, but we can't wait.
We have just had a Fantastic 19 day cruise around the Med, the Crew, ship & food on board were very good but the feeling of elitism was very strong on this ship as unless you paid extra a lot of the ship was off limits to the basic cruiser. Also something needs to be done about the terrible smell of stale tobacco around the stairwells and corridors of levels 9,10 & 11 from the Casino below. Such a shame on a beautiful new ship only to be ruined from the stench of cigarette & Cigar smoke.
We commented on the same thing (smoke smell) when we were on there too Lynne. We always knew we were on the Casino deck as soon as the lift doors open. Yet weirdly, when in the actual Casino it was nowhere near as bad. Seems the filtration system in there is working pretty well, but isn't capturing it at the exits, and it's something we are sure we will get fixed either shortly or at it's first dry dock. Let's hope it is shortly though. We didn't get a feeling of elitism as much as you did, and we only recall the Sanctuary, Cabana class and Reserve Class Dining rooms as being the only off limits bit, and we've seen that on most major cruise lines now that have the "ship within a ship" experience. It seems it is the way a lot of the major cruise lines have gone now (most Carnival group ships & Royal Caribbean Group at least). Linzi & Mark
Another rant about the horrible cigarette smoke nearly everywhere onboard the Sun Princess. It was disgusting. We thought the food was bad, even in the speciality restaurants. We hated that the buffet was no longer self serve. We couldn't get the meals we wanted and service was really slow. We enjoyed the forward spaces on the Lido deck and dome performances. That said, there wasn't much entertainment on our April sailing. Our mini suite was OK. Our steward as usual was an angel. We didn't care much for the "Scandinavian" minimalist decor of this class of ship. We like the darker wood and brass on the regal class princesses. We thought that the elevator floor priority systems worked well. Fixing the cigarette smoke issue would be an easy fix and something they desperately need to do immediately. Food preparation was well done, but when the cooks are working with poor quality ingredients there isn't much they could do. After we got off the ship we walked down the street to an inexpensive restaurant and had a fabulous meal, worlds better than anything we had onboard. That's a poor reflection on Princess.
Thank you for that, we took a look at it and it appears to be only doing it on certain platforms or devices, but we think we have found a way to null the hard panning (we do record in stereo), which should sound a lot better. We will do this from this Sundays video, so have a listen and let us know if it is an improvement. Thanks Linzi & Mark

are the curling tongs an extra charge? also, were there hair straightners? i sail a week saturday and need to know this!!!
Hi Sarah. There is just the nice hairdryer onboard everything else (curling tongs and such) were ours.

Princess have always done Mocktails which you can get on the soft drinks package or just order them conventionally.
Unfortunately the Ship Within A Ship element seems to be becoming more and more common Joan. To be fair to Princess, there is really only the Sanctuary that is for the new class, everywhere else is open to everyone.

When I started cruising three class ships were common; First Class, Tourist Class and Economy Class. It was that or do not sail. I am glad we did.

Thank you so much. Do we get an update to the SoloCruiser name in a month then ;) all the best for the wedding onboard, we love a cruise wedding.

Not being negative or anything, but hard panning the voices left and right kind of makes this unlistenable if you're a bit OCD.
