A near perfect run with mantles, the arguably best weapon, full strongest MR gear AND heroics and it still takes over 3 minutes of flawless speedrunning to kill AT Nergi?
Not really flawless speedrunning. A guy called crafter_king did sub 4 AT Nergigante with Bow back in the base game. If he did it now it'll probably be sub 3 or even lesser.
Even still, that took a fair amount of time. Goes to show how much of an absolute nightmare this thing was. Was it well designed? Ehh, very debatable. Was it a challenge? Oh yeah it was.
For sure it was a good challenge but when you play Tanky GL set (Kjarr Buster Bomber before IB) you could beat it easily around 10 mins. Just play it cool and slooow. The nightmare was hunting it with friends or even worse with randoms... I guess hunting it solo was the easier way to defeat it, in my case anyway. How did you hunt it?
@@brokemono I'm a Great Sword main, so I had to learn to really adapt and be patient, as it sure wasn't a pushover like base Nergigante was. The trick was waiting for the spikes to grow and spacing out the damage inflicted to cause him to topple over. Also hunting him in groups sucked, especially if it was two people, as the HP was inflated for 4 players regardless in base World. But, it still allowed for very memorable experiences.
@@bigthecat4276 Ahh shiiiit, I'm a GS Main too but instead of learning to hunt it with the GS... I pussied out, watched a tutorial, got the GL set and just beat it that way. Kudos to you, man.
I honestly had to use two different weapons to beat it, starting out the fight with CB and once it got too fast, finishing the fight by just helicoptering IG where it could barely hit me (but it does fuck all DPS)
AT Nerg was arguably an MR monster in HR. His HP surpasses a lot of MR monsters and it wasn't until hitting velkhana in the iceborne story that I, still running HR armor, encountered a monster that hit harder than AT nerg, and even then Velkhana was still a notably easier fight. I actually ended up enjoying AT nerg, but I can't argue that he wasn't overtuned.
Share your story man , what kind of gear were you using . As for me i used sns , get armour that gives max def skills , divine blessings and evade window took 35 mins the first time taking it down
AT nergi is the definition of powercreep : even with the strongest set aviable in base MHW was an absolute nightmare, and if rng wasn’t your friend and he started to spam the pepega slam... i still have Vietamn flashback from that.
mustve taken me at least 40 runs, gave up over a period of months, came back and powered thru with farcasters max potions and temporal mantle galore just to BARELY do it in 40 minutes. absolutely insane.
AT Nerg really put my lance skills to the test. Sure I could block every attack, but I needed to predict his attacks and perfectly block them while poking the hell out of him. Him and AT Vaal taught me how to master the lance.
Actually fought AT nerg with high rank gear, dusted the cobwebs off my drachen armor along with my old faithful Fire LS. Probably the most fun I've had in MHWI in a long time.

For this kind of video they would restart if they got hit as it would lower the completion time. So you might as well be on 1hp and have heroics active for the damage bonus.

At first I thought clutch claw was fun but then it became a cycle of tenderizing/knockdowns and now hunting feels very formulaic and less dynamic. Probably just me though.
Nope, the majority of the community feels the same way. Yeah sure you can go without tenderising and be just fine but at the same time you think "I could be doing more damage if this was tenderised". At least with the lance you can just spam counter claw and it's a free clutch attack without the hassle of getting yeeted off because you didn't expect it to recover from an attack that fast, just to wait for another opportunity. Dat counter claw still sexy tho.

I went to kill regular nergi the other day and cleared quest in like 2'40 and felt kinda bad for him. This video just reminded me of that. 11/7 MH content for reminding me of MH trauma from half a week ago.

Are you kidding? What a coincidence! I just went against this bad boy today and actually had an amazing fight with it. I had some IB in game armour as well as some endgame armour that haven’t been upgraded at all and still could beat it with not a single cart. Lunastra is a lot worse and terrifying fight as her firepower or nova blast still eats through your health during the fight. She carted me twice due to the Nova blast.
This needs to be done against extreemoth. I did it with my gf easily the other day, but only bc there is a way to always aggro it and avoid charybdis casts

I tried soloing AT Nergigante back in BG I instantly gave up because I kept dying at the final part. When G-Rank / Master Rank came out, I can actually solo it. I did not have Safi’jiiva’s weapons back then. I was using a flippin LS.
i just realised that you can use offensive guard to get 15% extra damage so if team darkside uses this they can pass the 10k dmg value right? Ps correct me if i am wrong
Our group also did this quest again at the winterfestival in 2019(Iceborne) with high end MR gear and nergigante still hits like a truck. We couldn‘t imagine how we did this Quest back in Vanilla.
Usually when I got new gears I would often pick up Nergigante on investigation quests. I fight him too many times that I'm actually used to his moves and patterns. AT Nergigante is just a lot faster got several new moves and deals more dmg. No big deal.
I only started playing since Iceborne came out and I still think the AT monsters are tough. Can't imagine how tough it was if I could only use high rank gears.
I recommend watching a bow guide but if you dash as you hold the charge it automatically goes to next lv charge and if you shoot a lv3 charge then slide then shot again you get another lv3 shot

Wait wait wait wait. I have to do this, as a mandatory quest?!? In order to achieve 100% completion? I WENT OUT OF MY WAY, TO DO THIS THROUGH AN EVENT QUEST! I didn't really have much of a hard time. I died once but was able to get him right after. His main weakness is patience and temporal mantle. Vitality doesn't help much but i used it also. The reason i did the event quest was because i needed the legs for the paralysis longsword build TDS also created. Looked like a decent set to start of MHIceborne
My gunlance has around 750 defense maybe? I haven't tried my bowgun yet which has like 900 defense but man when blocking he didn't seem to do that much more damage then he did normally as a tempered. but still a bit noticeable.
At nergigante is still the only monster in mhw that I would compare with on of the harder souls series bosses,in terms of challenge,took me 15+ hunts to take him down solo with a perfect GS meta build,he was not very fun to fight,but he sure was challenging af and it felt real good when I finally took him down lol
I didn't realize AT Nergigante was so difficult for most people... I beat it on the first try without having to change my build or cheese anything. It was hard, for sure, but I didn't know it gave other people so much trouble.

I beat AT Nergi twice in vanilla MHW and both times I had to solo it because he was just impossible to do with randoms. I ran an evasion focused raw insect glaive.
What do you guys think is the easiest Arch-Tempered Master Rank Elder Dragon? Personally, i think Teostra, his attacks are just so predictable and his moves are so short ranged
Very interesting! I do wonder why use a bow when the record holder from high rank was cybele_MH whom used tarroth assualt glutton HBG. I understand there were nerfs and buffs to the iceborne weapons but at this moment HBG is dominating the speedrun leader boards of IB. In base game the only weapon that has similar or better times than HBG was aerial greatsword and it is no longer viable(aerial GS speedrun) because of the big nerf it recieved. And on top of that didnt bow also get nerfed? So would this be the best weapon to use to highlight the power of master rank gear? It did NOT even beat the best HR time. Great video though, great show of skill and thanks for uploading!

Very interesting! I do wonder why use a bow when the record holder from high rank was cybele_MH whom used tarroth assualt glutton HBG. I understand there were nerfs and buffs to the iceborne weapons but at this moment HBG is dominating the speedrun leader boards of IB.
In base game the only weapon that has similar or better times than HBG was aerial greatsword and it is no longer viable(aerial GS speedrun) because of the big nerf it recieved.
And on top of that didnt bow also get nerfed? So would this be the best weapon to use to highlight the power of master rank gear? It did NOT even beat the best HR time.
