The 7 Flushing is definitely gonna wind up being extended to Bayside 20 college point Whitestone elevated. The 11 trains to 14 street Hudson yards and 20 college point Whitestone elevated line while the 7 Flushing line being extended to Bayside.
Congestion pricing to pay for more waste, bloated purchasing contracts and featherbedfing more like it. Not to mention the fat cat pensions and chauffer driven cars for the big wigs...😂😂😂😂😂
Great video summarizing the history of this extension! If possible, could you include more maps in future videos? Especially when you were talking about the 7 to Secaucus Junction. If you want a platform to make maps, use Google My Maps. Also, I don't think the 7 to NJ would be high priority any time soon. Considering now that the Gateway Project is currently under construction and would have a better impact on NJ Transit. Though I believe 10th Ave should be built sometime in the near future.
@Mauricexproductions A 7 extension to NJ would bring the entire subway system under FEDERAL REGULATION, with little to no input from either city or state.
@@CraigFThompson That's a massively important point!! And if I'm not mistaken (which is highly possible), it would result in reclassification of the subway from rapid transit to commuter rail and fall under the FRA...not unlike PATH.
I feel as though NJ needs some subways going east-west across between NY and NJ to connect with subway routes here's what I'll do. I. With the case for SAS across 125 St. I work with it and plan for this to serve Fairview/North Bergen, a deep bore alignment may be needed past St. Nicholas Ave to bypass the 125th Station on the 1 line with an out of system transfer implemented. II. (The actual T which should run up 3rd Ave instead) would veer towards Harlem along Central Park as a Super-Express and would join CPW and take over local service to 168th Street from there it would serve GWB to Fort Lee and eventually Rt. 4 to Paterson giving northern Manhattan and New Jersey residents easier access to the East Side. III. Extending the G to Manhattan, running across at approximately 49 or 50 St. This as well as the T are New Jersey-facing lines that can potentially meet at Paterson, forming east-west connections whereas NJT commonly runs north/south. IV. The L would get extended towards Secaucus, meeting the 7 extension in a quad-track tunnel under the Hudson. The 7 would veer off under Washington Street. The PATH should be cut up, with the 7 taking the tunnels from just south of Hoboken, to just north of Grove Street, where the tunnel would extend south through Jersey City, linking with the HBLR at Liberty State Park, taking over both southern branches, becoming grade-separated in the process. HBLR would be truncated to the section to operate north of State Liberty Park. The 6 would take over the entirety of the WTC-Newark Line, fully de-interlining the PATH.
@@CraigFThompson AmTrak is mainly intercity (which is a whole different breed as it is NOT a commuter/regional rail line) and really doesn’t do much for those commuting within a metro area. As intercity, it has much limited capacity and frequency’s as well. No one is using AmTrak to commute within the NY Metro area.
@TheRailLeaguer Amtrak IS used, however, between several locations in a wide area, from Connecticut to NJ....and as you mentioned, it's not too frequent....
@ Intra-metro area ridership for AmTrak is actually pretty low, even going from CT to NJ, especially due to being expensive and lower frequencies. In fact, most of AmTrak ridership in the metro area is actually INTERCITY ridership. Example is going from New York to Washington DC or New York to Boston. Hardly anyone is going to New Haven on Amtrak from New York (especially at the prices AmTrak has), but some Metro-North New Haven and eventually Hudson Line trains are planning to go to Penn Station.
Yup! Send an extension of the 7 up Broadway to connect with the 1; this way, the unused express track from 96th street will see the action it deserves!
1:09 - 1:11 Can you correct the spelling error? A TBM *bores* a tunnel, and does not *boar* it. (A "boar" is a male pig.) Thus it's tunnel *boring* machine.
Honestly, instead of a extension to New Jersey, the MTA should extend the 7 train out east, to Bayside or Little Neck Via Northern Blvd. As always great video thorugh 👏
They need to combine the MTA when New Jersey Transit and the path Network and create a regional transit system. All systems is outdated. Bureaucracy like Maryland, Virginia. They need to do it. The old ways is not working. Let the MTA take over New Jersey's Transit and the path systems and give New Jersey control over the bridges that cross the Hudson and out of Staten Island. That way everyone could work together
Tbh the way NJ elected officials are treating Congestion Pricing while also staying mute on the toll and NJT hikes, they don’t deserve a (7) line extension. NYCT should only be within NYC
Agree here to NJT Amtrak, and even PABT won't help not even metro North because of the awful frequencies that the services has also the 7 to New Jersey can clean house of the Lincoln and Holland tunnels.
No, it doesn’t leave because it was historically funded by the city itself. Even the private companies, they got a lot of their expansion money from the city. The city had no reason to fund any expansions beyond its borders, because that wouldn’t benifit its own development and therefore tax revenue, so the subway never left the city. This changed when the MTA was founded in 1963, and control switched to the state, but by that point, the subways had pretty much stopped having expansions. It’s not that it can’t leave the city, it’s that it didn’t benifit the politicians in charge until after the subway’s expansion period
@yourbuddydom Yes. I definitely know that the 7 Flushing line is definitely gonna be extended to Bayside 20 college point Whitestone. That will be a big pain with expanding it
@@Animat_train However, it'll be much less of a pain than extending it into a whole 'nother state....
With the Congestion Pricing money, the MTA better extend more train lines sooner especially in Queens!
Like the one on the video I saw is (like) extending D and 6 to Co-op City. I mostly know it won't happen in the future 🤷♂️
