What I love about Cyclops is, he is on-par or atleast near Captain America's mind, in terms of strategy and calculation. That's something Cap himself has stated. The guy has, what is essentially a lower-class ability, and maximized it to it's fullest. Like how Cap can ricochet his shield off multiple surfaces to connect, Cyclops can do the same. Bro's got the sharpest mind. That and he was right.
Must be why the mutants decided that needed Cap brought back from the dead to lead them, not Scott.

Ive always been a Cyclops fan. And it isnt because he shoots concussive blasts, essentially being able to destroy whatever he looks at. Its because he’s spent most of his life trying to not destroy the world around him. He’s had to figure out other ways to succeed. He has evolved quite a bit as a character, and when he stares you down(metaphorically speaking) in almost certain defeat, its because he has a plan…so watch out. Its about to get real
Cyclops gets defeated all the time. His eye beams are overcome all the time. You have some strong head canon.
Cyclop's powers are very cool, but they are NOTHING compared to his strategic mind. I'll never forget how the man devised a plan to take down the Vampire Nation. He's always 50 moves ahead.

Gambit was my favorite as a kid. As an adult I appreciate the nuance of Cyclops' character more.

Me thinking about that one time during pre-Hellfire Gala Massacre when Cyclops was still lead the X-men & ricochet his optic blast off of every traffic light on the street to hit a certain target
Cyclops only shoots a concussive blast is as much as cap only throws a shield.
If the MCU does it to their strengths, Cyclops will be portrayed as the captain of a rugby team and not just the captain of of Varsity college team.
Cyclops is so cool because he’s the real Malcom X of the franchise and was the only one who adopted the ideologies of both Charles and magneto in a practical sense. On top of that, cyclops shines brightest during moments like this. Scott’s been carrying this franchise on his back since day one weather you like it or not and will do so gladly every time. The fact that concussive beams is his only power in a team full of men and women of mythic proportions and he keeps THEM in line? That’s why we love cyclops. Fans know it, marvel knows it, the X-men knows it, and their opps know it
Cyclops would be Malcolm X if he only fights for mutants, but Cyclops fights for everyone, humans included.

@@Aureilius2112 well according to Age of Apocalypse timeline. They tied. Wolverine cut out one of his eyes and Cyclops took one of his hands and it never healed back so the adamantium was melted into a metallic smooth stump instead. There’s that.
Cyclops is probably the most relatable and probably the most realistic depiction of a powered individual in Marvel. For me, at least the most interesting male character. He's got the weight of a whole race on his shoulders, and it shows. All the mental scars. He's not the perfect guy like Cap or Superman. He's just a guy doing his best. Probably adults can relate with him more tbf. The position he's in as the leader he can never be on everyones good side, but he has to make those tough calls for the greater good.
His power is also a disability, he can't control it. For me, that's good representation. He's also probably on the spectrum with how obsessive he is with planning everything out so he never hurts anyone, so he's prepared for any threats that his family faces. The man never takes a moment to breathe.
There's still so much more to speak about him. He's truly been the most fleshed out character in Marvel. He's THE X-Man.

They've really de-pushed the significance and rarity of adamantium. It's frickin everywhere now.
Part of the Mutant Resurrection Protocol was not just growing new biological bodies for dead mutants, but also restoring necessary enhancements - like Wolverine's adamantium skeleton. I don't know how many times Logan has died in this series, but it's been more than once - which means there's a few extra skeletons out there. I assume Orchis made the harpoon out of one of these.
We need to give wolvie a upgrade then. some metal that is superior and doesn't poison him. Maybe purified adamantium.

Adamantium isn't a natural metal - it's a mix of Vibraniun and Steel alloys - so I'm not sure if you even can purify it.
Alternative would be Adamantine, but that is even rarer and basically impossible to find.
@@TheCursedCat1927 Its fictional so if it can poison someone who is immune to all other poisons for some reason then it can be purified or that stupid trope of poisoning someone with a healing factor can be retconned because its just dumb.

Cyclops is underrated
My alreadt existing love for cyclops was cemented during the Fear Itself story, where X-men face off against amped up Juggernaut. The line "We have more plans than letters" was too cold. Tactical genius
Yessir, we love us some Ororo. And some Cyclops. I mean, let’s be honest, Scott is one of the only ones who has looked cool in every X-Men uniform. I’ve never liked that they expanded on his blasts as being from the concussive dimension or whatever. That brings him too close to a magic user IMO.
This is how you write a quality X-Men story over years with an incredible payoff!! Johnathan Hickman and the teams who worked on the X-men have done amazing work. I am so excited to see the finale.
I think of his optic blast like water (hear me out) if someone turns a firehouse on you, its going to knock you back.if you get hit with a constrained small stream like a pressure washer, its going to do damage too

I think he may have read the comments of that video. "Cyclops was right". He was no villain, Marvel just wanted to make him one. But Cyclops defeated his makers. He doesn't need to be an Omega level to be THE X-Man.
Dude how can you not love cyclops? He is both restricted and uninhibited. He is the better version of the aspect of superman who is afraid to let loose his power. Dude can just fly away but cyclops has to live with it.

Rob the reason people love cyclops ( myself included my favorite X-men ) is because with a power so basic he’s one of if not the best tactical mind in marvel, he’s a great leader, probably the best, great hand to hand fighter and has god tier rizz. He’s a great hero and anti hero and isn’t over powered or overhyped. But you believe in him and he’s the middle road between professor X and magneto.
And he was right.

scott's power was not always concussive in nature until a specific fanmail forced the editor to justify it that way (HE FELT he had to justify it that way, somehow, but i remember reading it and being disappointed. it sounded like the editor simply wanted to show superior knowledge to the fan). but even after that retcon, when a dramatic moment becomes necessary and mostly to underscore scott's power, we see a felled enemy / structure smoking and in a some occasions, glowing & smoking. god only knows why that fan mail was answered that way, it makes no sense as up to not too long ago, scott was like superman, sun-powered, which is why dark phoenix loved being hit with his eye blasts. in one of jean's constant resuscitations, beast built a capsure meant IIRC to either contain her power or stabilize it, remember that issue? they went into the capsule and scott kept feeding dark phoenix with eye blasts... "MORE". more what? more purely kinetic hits to the body? more heat-free explosions? that's not what dark phoenix feeds on. was she possessed by sebastian shaw? ANYWHOO... that 1 retcon destroys thousands of comic issues. effing marvel comics.

Seeing Cyclops in Xmen Schism step up as a leader in a more militant way like Magneto and blast Wolverine's smug face off gave me a whole lot more respect for him as a character.

In some comics, Cyclops' vision seems to be written as heat, but mostly concussive force. Maybe it was from having the phoenix force, but I remember him using his vision to fuse the tectonic plates together to prevent earthquakes

If you could ask most villians and heroes why Cyclops is the man .....They would tell you . Real recognizes real . The respect he gets among them is a level you wouldn't understand. Just know most heroes want him on their side and most villains prefer not to face him .

He wasn't a villain, until Iron Man fucked up the Phoenix Force. Marvel wanted him to be a villain, but Cyclops defeated his makers. Not sure how many superheroes have that on their resume.
