Hey Rob! You'll probably never read this, but I just wanted to say thank you for all your hard work, it's been a thrill to follow this saga with your channel from the beginning. I used to stay up late all night reading Spider-Man when I was a kid, but as time went on and I grew up, I started to pay attention to other things in life. Now I'm turning 30 and I'm so glad guys like you are out there now - I would never have the guts to pick up and follow through all these comics nowadays, but listening to your contageously enthusiastic retelling is a joy when I get back home! You really helped me recapture some of that wonder and marvel (no pun intended) I thought I'd lost, almost two full decades ago. Anyway, lots of love from across the great pond, keep on rocking in the free world, and congratulations on keeping such a fantastic channel for all these years!
Notice Jean Grey never intervened when Apocalypse was tussling with the other mutants because Phoenix would have mopped the floor with Apocalypse. I will miss the Krakoan Age and I'm glad the mutants have a safe haven in the White Room, which is their version of the city of the Children of the Vault. At this point, almost every mutant that has died has been resurrected again except Sabretooth only because he died so recently.
This wasn’t the death of Krokoa. This was the death of comic creator ideas for substitutions of Hollywood. Hickman did a wonderful job of creator a word we as comic book fans could believe in, but of course factions formed and destroyed everything…
I must say I really liked the interactions with Apocalypse throughout the era while he was on their side. Like they would just be talking about something from history and he would be like "Yep, I remember that. I was there."
I have been an X-Men fan and reader since the 80s. At some point in the 2000’s I stopped reading them. Then when I heard Hickman was going to be writing them I jumped back onboard for House and Powers and was blown away. It was the best the X-Men had been in years. Then at some point I lost interest. It still saddens me to see this era come to an end. Hickman definitely made me fall back in love with the X-Men.
You literally mirrored my thoughts. Once they brought out the X-Men movie they started changing the comics. Just look at the costumes. Things started going black leather to fit the movie nonsense. Once Hickman took over, it was intriguing and interesting. Now we go back to nonsense.
Apocalypse is my favorite Marvel character with this wrap up. He was already up there but after The Hickman Treatment I fell in love. He has history & holes that could be used for future stories within all comics, one liners & a ridiculous power set.
I am with you. I really want to see him continue as an ally because this is a mutant with THOUSANDS of years of knowledge and history. So, much could be learned from him. Such a sad shame to see him turn back to being an adversary. Or maybe perhaps an anti-hero?
The ending feels like Marvel trying have its cake and eat it too. Krakoa has a happy ending but the X-Men can never have it. Also, they were just too much plotholes. What happened to the Four? Are they even alive? Will they go back to the White Hot Room? If that place is paradise, what use do they need for resurrection? I honestly love that the Fall of X started with the consequences of Krakoan's extreme actions, like literally punishing a mutant with the same fate as sabertooth for vandalism but ur right, they really did screw the pooch with this one
The Four are with Krakoa in the White Hot Room. They had need of resurrection to bring back all the mutants that died at Genosha, and now that work is complete. They can still resurrect mutants, but for now they’re going to continue to live their lives in a place separate from Earth.
With the exception of Jonathan HiCKMAN and a few others ( Kieron Gillen on IMMORTAL ✖️-MEN and Al Ewing on ❌-MEN RED) most writers definitely didn't know how to world build the NATiON oF KRAKOA, that could have been bigger even though it had a rough start, as most new Nations do, iT was far more interesting than the regular superhero trope we're going to get iN the next few months. i'M probably done with X-Men, I maybe aged out of what's coming, but I do have grandkids to pass the torch to.
@@HELLO_KORO the worst part is, in the current books, they act like KRAKOA didn't happen, back to protecting a world that hates them, after having their own NATiON. It doesn't make sense, they should All be in therapy after that traumatic experience.

Ironic that he's like the Apex of 'Evolution' as an external and Omega-Level but his thinking comes off as devolved. None of this hinders the characters because i'm highly aware of the meta surrounding these last issues of X-Men. Literally my favorite era of x-men and i feel like it competes with the legacies greatest but holy SHIT this ending making me eat so much crow lmao
Krakoa could have gone as a permanent age and home for the xmen. So many more stories could have bean told on a continental level ,it was such a good settings and so enjoyable . They could have leveled the xmen up to not just defenders of mutant kind but as one of many branches of security for the the island on a national government level. In a similar way that the Avengers are both earths warriors but mostly america . I kind of get it tho, its hard to silo the xmen stories off from the rest of marvel universe if they are such a big player in geo politics .
Truth. He stuck around and promoted this stuff. I bailed, because I AM angry and I DON'T stick around when shit gets TOO intentionally disappointing. I bailed on the entire "Fall of X" business and I'm not proud of it, but at the same time, it is self-care at this point. Because I have zero faith that Mickey Rat will ever show even a *tenth* of the respect Beau DeMayo did the characters and setting for _X-Men 97._ None. Their whole track record is that the MCU promotes ONE guy per film, literally, with ensembles being reduced to CGI set pieces and Quips-a-Million. A TEAM franchise is alien as fuck to the House of Mouse. They can't even do a team of Disney Princesses. They literally fired DeMayo before his cartoon aired. I'm sorry, I'll shut up now. Because yeah, nobody's really here to go off or see others do that.
@@bradleypoe6846 I think it is a bit more complicated then that. Disney managed to turn Marvel from a failing studio into a actual powerhouse with the MCU. I think the issue was that after they let the Russo Brothers cook and concluded with Endgame. A bunch of contracts expired, the Russo brothers left, Stan Lee died. And so all the brain/acting power houses buggered off leaving Disney to try and recreate something just as good with none of the resources that allowed the MCU to get that big to begin with. I suspect that a combination of BlackRock toomfoolery, braindrain, and people retiring have lead to Marvel just turning out dogwater after dogwater series since then. It's not going to get any better until it all goes under like in the early 1990's and Disney drops them.
I appreciate your honesty.. They dropped the ball with the story lol. Wolverine fought an Apocalypse double in the Savage Land.. Brutal. Walter Simonson wrote it back in 1990. They were trying to hint that Apocalypse had something to do with Wolvie's origins.Glad that didn't stick (But I might have missed a retcon lol)
It was dumb for them to turn him into a hero in the first place. I mean what next? Marvel try to find a way to make the red skull into a nice guy also?
@@ThatSentryGuy That's not exactly true, his whole goal was to see who was stronger out of the humans and mutants. Whoever won, he planned to rule over. Look at stories like "The Twelve" and "Age of Apocalypse" even "Blood of Apocalypse" he has been consistent until Hickman decided he wanted to recon the character. I also hated the fact they turned Beast (one of the most beloved Xmen into a villain)! They ended up reconning that also, but why do it? People love these characters how they are, most of us fans do anyways, but when Marvel decides to recon the background to characters that you love, it makes you non interested in even reading the comics.
A note. A lot of the resurrected mutants went back to the the white hot room with Krakoa. They said that some went back to see their families but they all had essentially 24 hrs to say goodbye before leaving again. So there's we're not entirely back to having a surplus of mutants. If anything it looks like most mutants are gone, leaving with Krakoa and only the main mutants stayed.
Imagine just being blipped back to life and just standing around and not immediately looking for your loved ones and freaking out from the total confusion. Lol mutant or not, you're still going to have and entire episode.
Great video, as always, Rob! I forgot that Enigma died. I was literally just imagining an Annihilation: Dominion event. I guess I'll have to wait for another Dominion!
[LMAO] The Dominion concept it's so underwhelming & kinda stupid. I even doubt you'd see it in GODS. I was hyped seeing it in the Defenders but after it was revealed - what a letdown.
The Pit was absolutely necessary. I noticed Magneto mentioned Toad not Sabretooth. There are some mutants who will never accept peace and continue to break the rules
Powers of x 5 is pretty good. Phoenix defeats Enigma and Dominions cower. Jean is Phoenix once and for all. She is now a Cosmic Superhero like she should have been decades ago. Phoenix ongoing series is about to be amazing.
I was very surprised, at first I didn't think I would like the Krakoan arc. Once I got in to it, I really loved it, especially Marauders. I am going to miss the Krakoan Era.
Man... I really loved that speech from Kafka, because it addresses the fundamental flaw behind Apocalypse's philosophy: "Social Darwinism" completely misunderstands the evolutionary concept of "survival of the fittest". As Kafka explains, it's not about being physically fit - it's about being fit for your environment. What makes you the top dog in one environment may leave you to struggle in another or if your environment changes over time, and changing a single variable can turn that entire ecosystem around you on its head. That moment could have been a great character moment for Apocalypse. Not as an immediate turnaround, but after some time. At first he'd probably still scoff at it and leave the youngsters to their "delusion" and run off to do his own thing - but when he attempts his next crusade and the X-Men effortlessly manage to avoid any collateral damage (despite him still very much wrecking them), he may start to consider that line of thinking... Sadly with how decisively he shut it down here, that doesn't seem likely.
I take side with apocalypse here. Kafka's point is that if everyone is altruist like i am, then as a "we" we change the context so that context fit us so that powerful work can be done by a group of people, but it can only happen when everyone helps you with context. What happens when you cannot change context? when you live in earth instead of the white hot room and other people contexts clashes with you? Apocalypse answer that he would beat other contexts out of his own might, his survival is not to be snuffed but to thrive by your own by your own might, basically if every mutant learns to really fend for themselves and develop their knowledge , they can grow the context out of their own might. So he beat but didn't kill exodus, adjusted and didn't kill kafka, he took the time to pain everyone in a different way, because they have yet work to do. When you can not only survive but thrive in any environment(including mental), which would include defending yourself, you become Apocalypse ubermensch, which is basically become a better you ion every aspect, and your work is not done yet, so painful encouragement
@@rabumalal "Changing context" doesn't just mean some magic reality warping. It's the main survival strategy of humanity. We altered our environments across the entire planet to the point where natural selection doesn't even apply to us anymore. We have entirely replaced the original context with our own and continue to change it - both physically (moving entire mountains, connecting oceans, etc.) and socially (healthcare, global communication & trade, etc.). Kafka's point is not "everyone should be a goody-two-shoes with no care in the world", but that in the world as it exists today, the raw domineering power Apocalypse worships isn't the most useful trait. A functional and resilient society has a much wider reach, and through cooperation can easily accomplish feats that would be hard even for an exceptional individual - so working as part of it rather than against it is the much more beneficial trait to have. Apocalypse's approach is "everyone for themselves" - which is easy to say if you're functionally immortal, have vast knowledge of advanced Celestial technologies and the abilities to magic those into existence. But everyone else is stronger if they can contribute to and benefit from the shared strength of a society, instead of living alone in the woods, struggling to survive all by themselves. That even goes for super-powered individuals. And yeah, making sure that society doesn't get complacent, corrupt and weak is a valid concern. Kafka said as much when he assured Apocalypse that his ideals are still a strong foundation to be inspired by. But there are far more efficient ways to ensure that than to occasionally beat up individuals. If anything that's more in like with the traits that can corrupt and weaken a society... The environment has changed, but Apocalypse refuses to adapt to the new conditions, which - ironically - is a pretty poor survival strategy. And it frankly shows in how much the X-Men treat it as a temper tantrum. His ideology is going extinct.
The Krakoa era reminds me of the part in Ultimate Spider-Man where he’s chewing out the X-Men. People don’t hate the Mutants because they’re Mutants. It's because they’re awful, awful people.
I'm not picking up another x-men comic for a long time if ever again. The damage they did to my favorite superhero group can't just be overlooked and moved on from.
Apocalypse is giving Bane in Infinite Crisis vibes. After years of slowly becoming an anti-hero and working with the good guys he flips because editorial needed it. "I finally know who I am. I am Bane. I break people."
Because people are getting tired of DC and Marvel making all their iconic villains into anti heroes. We need villains, they make for some of the best characters. It's more epic when they are defeated by the hero. The villain is suppose to represent your obstacles in life, and the hero represents you getting over those obstacles, and that is why most people love to see the hero go up against an EVIL villain, not an anti hero... Also, how much anti heroes do we need?
Man I agree with rob marvel really fumbled the bag on this one!! The whole fall of the house of X and all the tie ins the way they just ended the story so quick without wrapping up the different plot lines they had going on in the storyline
It feels like a metaphor for old school comics versus new school comics Like a little way of saying hey we don't hate the old comics but our new comics are because we are in this day and age you walked so we can run but the only problem is, like apocalypse felt and said, is that know I was what helped pave the way for you and now you want to just throw it in my face and not even be better but to be wishy-washy week pandering etc etc.
Over everybody in the comics game that i know of, The X-men are Rob’s bread and butter for sure. Even over DC. So when he’s beyond disappointed or over a comic run especially with the X-men , i know it was horribly handled
I can never get into comics ain’t no way all this cool shit happened and it gets reset 😭 This was my favorite story rob told . The way the X-men affected the planet is crazy only to just end in a womp womp
Idk, Rob... I was also born in '84, and I sometimes think parents nowadays need to be a little more like ours were back in the day. A little more like Apocalypse. A little pain can be a very persuasive and memorable lesson in the proper context. Though, I will readily admit that it can easily be taken too far and get out of control. But, yeah...
This is definitely how Apocalypse would react. This is good. I know you hate it. But this is the best possible ending. Sure it has to go this way for ongoing narrative reasons in the company...but it completely tracks.
On your comment with Apocalypse's teaching: I don't think parents are bad if they use spanking as a disciplinary tool as long as they don't go crazy with it. By the sound of it, your parents did, and look at you - successful, making millions happy
He totally skipped it. He had a perfect chance to make a new " a new God rises" type of video title as well. He has a thing against Jean apparently lol
I was so excited for Krakoa when it first started. no more of the usual genocide and trauma that's been the cycle for the xmen- Who are a metaphor for the marginalized, that's a fact. It shows amazing things happen when a community pulls itself together! And then writers started drilling holes in the boat as soon as it got going, and now it's over. And the solution for an oppressed community is to move to another dimension? WTF!
Rob you just can't help but make your own narrative can you? its not Arakko and Krakoa 5:44 its Krakoa and White Hot Room Krakoa rejoining there is now 3 versions of this place now
I 100% agree with you that Marvel has it backwards. It should be the comics influencing what they do in the movies rather than the other way around. Though this is largely because I was excited to Krakoa and house and powers of X adapted in the cartoons and movies. And I’m the type of person who got into comics and your channel because of the MCU.
The sad part is Apocalypse is kind of right. Humanity just tried to throw an extinction event for mutants and only turned at the last minute when they were in danger. Now they want to be philosophical about it and they were already doing that on Krakoa. They need to be more vigilant and ready to fight. Just dont be the ones to throw the first punch. I would be pissed too if my people went through what Orcus tried and what they told me is, were going to be nice to the people who pointed death robots at us.
Im so mad. The Krakoan age was the coolest thing to happen to mutants in a long time. It was so pretty with the Hellfire gala and everything and now its dead because of MCU needs. The mutants had peace and it was taken away.
The frustration of comics versus cinema is that they can coexist & not be reliant on one another... Seeing this comic*** story line get cut short (relatively speaking in terms of short for literature) due to the MCU demands/request(?) is poor ownership and weakminded corporate shilling.

Only got into x-men after dropping it for years because of POX/HOX for how different and interesting it was 😞😮💨
They missed a chance to have Jean use Emma as a bullet for a telepathic fast ball special
They missed a lot of chances to do great things.
Yeah, Jean was like, he isn't worth my time
This wasn’t the death of Krokoa.
I still wanna see Apocalypse throwdown with Uranos and/or Thanos.
Now we go back to nonsense.
just proves that marvel needs to trust hickman and pay him more than he is.
i stopped reading last year. hsd enough of their storylines ending disappointingly and the erasing of character histories.
@IStevenSeagaleveryone is different bud
The krakoa run had some great moments but was confusing AF
Apocalypse is my favorite Marvel character with this wrap up. He was already up there but after The Hickman Treatment I fell in love. He has history & holes that could be used for future stories within all comics, one liners & a ridiculous power set.
I think he's the best marvel character as well.
In a proper Timeline Krakoa would've lasted a decade, almost every Mutant nation gets destroyed
Almost?
But Krakoa remains a thing, only that now it's actually safe from getting Genosha'd.
I'd rather it ended the way it did than continue and see all my favorite and well-written Mutants turn into hypocritical dirtbags.

Krakoan era started off so strong only for it to go out so weak no wonder Apocalypse is pissed lol
It just feels as if magnetos resolution is being pooped on with what apocalypse is honestly reverting to.
This makes me so sad.😭
They should have had Jonathan Hickman come back to close the series.🤔
Rob isn't mad, he's disappointed
Apocalypse should be able to regenerate his eyes. But plot must go on.
I assumed he did. As I read the comic it seemed like his eyes came back after a few pages.
he is, he is just making the point of fighting everyone on their style to show them they have yet more work to do on themselves.
I’m terrified the MCU will make Apocalypse all silly and jokey like they do everyone
You are stupid
Thanos wasn't jokey I doubt apocalypse would be a clown
Like everyone? You must be talking about something else.
I get it. And agree.
Everyone has a quip. It's true nonsense. It's like every character is a Friends/Buffy The Vampire Slayer character.
Apocalypse turning heel again is dumb as fuck glad we have all the mutants back though we can pick and choose who we want on teams.
It was dumb for them to turn him into a hero in the first place. I mean what next? Marvel try to find a way to make the red skull into a nice guy also?
@@darksideapoc he always had an heir of mutant survival but they were actually thriving and he's upset because they "soft" pack of non sense
Didn't even last a decade. This is why I rather watch videos on comics instead of buying them - nothing is permanent.
Whenever someone tries to kill prof. X
Magneto is almost guaranteed to appear (almost)
Pure awesomeness
Thank you for sharing 😊
Imagine just being blipped back to life and just standing around and not immediately looking for your loved ones and freaking out from the total confusion. Lol mutant or not, you're still going to have and entire episode.
Xavier going dark so onslaught can pop out later and say "HA it was all me!"
Great video, as always, Rob!
I forgot that Enigma died. I was literally just imagining an Annihilation: Dominion event. I guess I'll have to wait for another Dominion!
Thanos might have become a dominion
[LMAO] The Dominion concept it's so underwhelming & kinda stupid. I even doubt you'd see it in GODS. I was hyped seeing it in the Defenders but after it was revealed - what a letdown.
Enigma isn't dead, just trapped in Gold Experience Requiem forever*
*until they need to use him for something again
I liked this video just because you were grumpy making it for us. Thank you!
The Krakoan Era was amazing. Thanks for the stories
The Pit was absolutely necessary. I noticed Magneto mentioned Toad not Sabretooth.
There are some mutants who will never accept peace and continue to break the rules
Wolverine's second adimantium skeleton was bonded by Apocalypse.
Powers of x 5 is pretty good. Phoenix defeats Enigma and Dominions cower. Jean is Phoenix once and for all. She is now a Cosmic Superhero like she should have been decades ago. Phoenix ongoing series is about to be amazing.
Damn apocalypse really said “and the thought is I brought all this so you can survive when law is lawless”
I was very surprised, at first I didn't think I would like the Krakoan arc.
Once I got in to it, I really loved it, especially Marauders.
I am going to miss the Krakoan Era.
Thanks for the recap & review👍🏻.
I'm loving your reviews man, keep them coming.
I love Rob’s enthusiasm.
They should have left Hickman to finish this story.
The Krakoa era reminds me of the part in Ultimate Spider-Man where he’s chewing out the X-Men. People don’t hate the Mutants because they’re Mutants. It's because they’re awful, awful people.
This is a good video. Left out some context and other information on certain topics. Still a good Rob video.
What context is missing? Genuinely curious haha
Great job of summerizing the events.
Been waiting for this💯
I'm not picking up another x-men comic for a long time if ever again. The damage they did to my favorite superhero group can't just be overlooked and moved on from.
So marvel is done?🤮🤢 darn.
@@Blackshadow164 pretty much. Not a single marvel comic I'd buy anymore
Thank god Kieron Gillen and Al Ewing were there to carry Krakoa after Hickman left. Real MVPs there.
13:41 Some good writing here. Sheesh.
Apocalypse said, 'Cam you smell what The Rock is cooking!"
Hearing this makes not regret dropping out of the plot since January.
Finally caught, you got no idea how much I had to come here to this channel and get lots clarification, practically education.

Man I agree with rob marvel really fumbled the bag on this one!! The whole fall of the house of X and all the tie ins the way they just ended the story so quick without wrapping up the different plot lines they had going on in the storyline

The MCU couldn't stop ruining things at movies and TV. They had to ruin the comics as well.
21:00 what an excellent use and showcase of nightcrawler’s powers.
I remember in middle school trying to keep up with the Phalanx saga and failing miserably because of the amount of X books.
It feels like a metaphor for old school comics versus new school comics
Like a little way of saying hey we don't hate the old comics but our new comics are because we are in this day and age
you walked so we can run
but the only problem is, like apocalypse felt and said, is that know I was what helped pave the way for you
and now you want to just throw it in my face and not even be better but to be wishy-washy week pandering etc etc.
Over everybody in the comics game that i know of, The X-men are Rob’s bread and butter for sure. Even over DC. So when he’s beyond disappointed or over a comic run especially with the X-men , i know it was horribly handled
Good to see Apocalypse still speaks like a preacher giving sermons. Too bad he's still mean AF.
I can never get into comics ain’t no way all this cool shit happened and it gets reset 😭 This was my favorite story rob told . The way the X-men affected the planet is crazy only to just end in a womp womp
80's and 90's, millennial. My dude, there is such a level of dead wrong here that I don't even know where to begin with.

Sure it has to go this way for ongoing narrative reasons in the company...but it completely tracks.
rise of powers of x 5 was the best issue of this era
On your comment with Apocalypse's teaching: I don't think parents are bad if they use spanking as a disciplinary tool as long as they don't go crazy with it. By the sound of it, your parents did, and look at you - successful, making millions happy
Did I miss a video on the ending of Fall of X and the battle against Enigma?
He totally skipped it. He had a perfect chance to make a new " a new God rises" type of video title as well. He has a thing against Jean apparently lol
Ok so I'm not crazy. This shit is confusing enough without skipping parts.
WTF!
Rob you just can't help but make your own narrative can you?
its not Arakko and Krakoa 5:44 its Krakoa and White Hot Room Krakoa rejoining
there is now 3 versions of this place now
I 100% agree with you that Marvel has it backwards. It should be the comics influencing what they do in the movies rather than the other way around. Though this is largely because I was excited to Krakoa and house and powers of X adapted in the cartoons and movies. And I’m the type of person who got into comics and your channel because of the MCU.
Now even the " Status Quo" had bended to the will of the mouse, so frustrating.
does any else feel like they missed a video that doesn't exist? Which video covers the gap between this and "The most powerful X Men Reutrns"?
He skips stuff
The sad part is Apocalypse is kind of right. Humanity just tried to throw an extinction event for mutants and only turned at the last minute when they were in danger. Now they want to be philosophical about it and they were already doing that on Krakoa. They need to be more vigilant and ready to fight. Just dont be the ones to throw the first punch. I would be pissed too if my people went through what Orcus tried and what they told me is, were going to be nice to the people who pointed death robots at us.
If Moira lost her powers when she was revived in the White Hot Room, why did she remember who she was, such that she was relieved when she turned 13?
Im so mad. The Krakoan age was the coolest thing to happen to mutants in a long time. It was so pretty with the Hellfire gala and everything and now its dead because of MCU needs. The mutants had peace and it was taken away.
Judging by the rumors for the MCU X-Men. They're doing something different with the X-Men compared to the comics so
I hope marvel understands this cycle of suffering for mutants has run its course
The krakoan era represented everything that is wrong with comics and instead of fixing it, they just doubled down in the end.
The frustration of comics versus cinema is that they can coexist & not be reliant on one another...
Seeing this comic*** story line get cut short (relatively speaking in terms of short for literature) due to the MCU demands/request(?) is poor ownership and weakminded corporate shilling.
Great vid again, Marvel did bottle this as Hickman was building something new and worthwhile.
Feige needs to hire guys like comics explained and blerd as story consultants
14:31 YES!!!!!!!
