I tried them both, we went with the 2022 GC L and have no regrets. It feels so premium and is so comfortable to drive city or highway. The infotainment system is absolutely top notch and looks better integrated into the dash instead of the tablet style slapped on top. Apple car play works flawlessly and is wireless in the GC. All 3 rows are comfortable and spacious, I’m over 6’1” and I can fit comfortably in the 3rd row which isn’t the case for a lot of 3 rows we test drove before making our purchase. V6 is powerful, transmission is smooth and it always seems to be in the right gear. It won’t blow your socks off with speed but off the the line it is quite peppy for the size and was quicker than I’d expected. I’d buy this vehicle again tomorrow in a heartbeat.

My wife and I went with the Jeep GCL Limited. Our Luxury Tech II package included ventilated seats, upgraded cameras, wireless charging, rear sunshades etc. a little over 55k out the door. We also tried the Wagoneer out for a few days it was nice but did not fit in the garage, & in Texas heat that’s a non-negotiable.
Coming from an Audi SQ5 and Porsche Macan this meets our desires/must haves out of a 3-row vehicle, particularly for a growing family. I just couldn’t see us driving a Kia for a few years after the hype dies down. This was also her push gift, I still have the Porsche Macan S. We’re confident we made the right decision and my wife who always wanted this truck loves it. FamCam is the new wave for toddlers/newborn ❤️‍🔥😮‍💨

As a former owner of three Hyundai products (same as Kia) I’d like to address the warranty difference. Quality issues and failures plagued both my Sonata and Santa Fe. When going to the dealership to address issues, the dealer did not actually have the authority to do repairs. They had to get authorization from a higher authority. This process sometimes took days. Sometimes our dealership had to argue on our behalf when the answer came back “no”. We had a phantom electrical problem which only showed up when it rained. This problem never got fixed. The drivers seat leather is paper thin and split within 3 years. Hyundai only fixed it after we threatened a lawsuit. We ended up selling the Sante Fe back to them and buying a Honda. We had several issues - way way more problems than our Honda CRV and we always seemed to be arguing with Hyundai. Be aware, the long warranty is not without its baggage. You will feel like you have to beg to get warranty repairs or argue against the “normal wear and tear” excuse. I also had a Genesis which IS a high quality car, but that too let me down. It was a great car until I bought it into the dealership for a recall and they reprogrammed the motor which took much of the power out of the motor. It was no longer the powerful luxury car i purchased. Hyundai said nothing about it and when I questioned them, they just said it was a reliability update. No more Korean made vehicles for me. I ended up leaving the Genesis right there. I’m tired of fighting that fight.

I went to Jeep Grand Cherokee L and so happy. Super quality ride and so far 20k miles trouble free.
It has everything for long travels, but wish the tank were at least 30 gallons. Mine got 550 miles per tank, 23 mpg at 75 miles.
Only thing I would change, the 4wd works great.

The GC Summit Reserve is such a nice vehicle. For long trips the driver assist that steers and controls the speed for you is really amazing. Closest thing to a Tesla type experience I've seen. Massage seats, night vision camera that alerts you to something like a deer, 21" wheels, 19 McIntosh speakers and just an insanely nice interior front to back. It's worth the money. Just picked up my Telluride EX premier pkg. yesterday. I paid $7000 OVER the $44890 MSRP. Was not happy at all. BUT, the car specs I wanted was almost like looking for the Loch Ness monster. At my 3rd dealership (that I almost didn't go to), I found the EX in the color I wanted . I wanted an SX in white and no one had any and wouldn't trade another dealer nor order me a new one from the factory. They had one SX in Wolf Gray and nothing else. After I bought the car, the dealer said he only had 5 Kia's left on the lot. He was effectively going to be selling used cars (any brand) by November. I hope they all suffer for taking advantage and charging exorbitant prices . I have NEVER (until now) paid MSRP. The dealer probably made $15000 in profit including my trade in. The car absolutely is a great car, especially if you can get one under MSRP.

Good for you. Anyone that pays ridiculous markup on the Kia needs their head examined. I have a 2021 Telluride S that Jeep is going to give me $7 k more than I paid for it in 2021. Because I did a factory order on the JGC Limited, they are giving me 1000k under MSRP as well as the $1500 Jeep rebate. Win Win. The fact I don't have the same warranty is a downer but you cant have everything. I asked about upgrading to a 22 Telluride or a 23 but they want 10k market adjustment. Kiss my ass.😅😆😚

Sorry to hear that. Had very similar experience shopping for a Stinger. Putting the dealership aside, I can guarantee you you won't be disappointed with the car. In this segment, you find most of the competition does things interior wise that just doesn't make sense. The Koreans really 'think' about things when designing. If you can't stand KIA, at least check out the Palisade. Maybe the Hyundai network is better there for NH.

In the current market, we ended up going with the jeep GC L Limited (the one in this video). The current mark-ups on the the kia and hyundai, due to their popularity, put the prices far about the GC. That being said, I don't think you can really go wrong with any of the 3

Great comparo Brothers! Nobody can deny the Telluride's value. It literally mixes luxury and mainstream with a surgical precision. Yes, the wood is "plood" and there is a "aluma-look" trim, BUT it is how they put it all together. Factoring in the standard driver assistance suite, heads up display, and other luxuries for "$50k"(more like $60k in my neck of the woods right now), it is an outstanding value. Yes, on paper, the GC is inferior. It is missing a few of the luxuries and other items this SX has, but Jeep has to do something that Kia does not: Also incorporate a real 4WD system into the vehicle. That cost has to come from somewhere, and Jeep takes it from some of the interior features. With the current pricing of the Telluride, this SX should've been measured against the Summit(not Reserve), which offers all of the features and more that this Kia has, in addition to air suspension, opt V8, etc. These two all come down to what it is important: the Kia is certainly worth a look, but at 20-30% over MSRP right now, absolutely not, whereas the GC can be purchases at MSRP or less and not be upside down severely.

In my opinion the Kia is a mini van that can power the rear wheels in a slippery situation. I've driven both vehicles, and for me the clear choice was the GC L. I pull a boat and need the higher tow rating, I will do some minor off road driving at times, and I still want a luxury vehicle to take my customers out in. The Kia really rolled/leaned a lot in turns, and I found the interior to be nice, but just not as nice as the GC. I've reserved the GC L Overland with the technology package, and it should be here in a couple of weeks.

Good details and comparison , but there are some things left out. For instance the Telluride is no way comparable to the Jeep in off road, or towing capacity. American Cars dont always match feature for feature at similar trim levels, but they are getting better. The Jeep aims for towing and true off road market, not just elevated all wheel. I looked at the telluride but it can only tow 5000 lbs, meaning I can't tow my own trailer. My Jeep (third one I've owned) can tow 7200 lbs, and hit off road areas the Telluride couldnt touch. Not trying to poopoo the Kia but for many jeep owners they buy them for more than electronics and features. I have a 2017 GC Overland w/every option possible, and got it for same pricing as the current telluride so got a good deal. Thx for the info.. :)

To me Jeep has a lot more road presence, brand loyalty and off road capabilities that simply put cannot be ignored... this is a proper SUV. It’s design has been around for ages and is a nod to how well it will age over time. Kia on the other hand has a design which will be overhauled as soon as new iteration hits. Cadillac has used vertical lights for ages but now has moved away. Interior design is where GCL leaves Telluride in the dust. Tablet screen design is about 12 years old and most premium automakers (Porsche Audi etc.) are moving away from it. I think Jeep nailed it. Not sure which lots you are looking at or at all but you’re not going to find a 4x4 GC L Summit configured for less than $65K. A few months ago I heavily favored the Grand Cherokee L until I drove one. The engine lunges like crazy on the L with the 3.6. By the way Chrysler is the one playing the markup addendum game at a lot of the dealers not Kia. This publisher is a little out of touch with the Grand Cherokee L. A fully loaded limited trim will run you close to $56K just on sticker with the Luxury Tech Group that gives you ventilated front seats and some other stuff. I would never do business with a dealer that charges markup on a KIA vehicle for crying out loud. I just ordered my 22’ Telluride SX Prestige AWD with nappa leather for right around $48,5K. There are plenty of Kia dealers around without markup. Given the $7K price difference between loaded Telluride and low trim Limited GC L I’ll take the Telluride any day. You have to go up over $60K Overland to get all the off road features that aren’t even available on Limited trim at all.

While the Kia Telluride offers it for nearly $20k less. And Kia has the best powertain warranty in the market. And let this be clear, Kia is now a brand that deserve recognition. RIGHT, there is a video where someone took their Telluride off road into the snow with the 20/21 inch all season tires and once the tires started continually spinning the KIA shut down probably due to drivetrain temp. as a lockout to prohibit damage which is a good idea in a way. There is no use tackling heavy snow and ice with 20 inch all season tires, most reviewers admit the 20's are for looks but 18 is MUCH better for trail/offroad. NOT a good idea to constantly spin with the wrong tires but i doubt the Telluride would come close to the GC. I had a 1996 Grand Cherokee 5.2 for 12 years and always used AT tires but manufacturers realize most wont be taken offroad so they equip with all season, 2021 GC comes with 265/18 tires, i have been looking at a few Laredo models for about 35K with rebates.

How do you choose the top end kia and the mid grade jeep . Keep it 💯and go premium for both brands and perform the test. Might wamna throw some off road testing in there as well.

I went with the Kia. Paid 50k for SE AWD nightfall package.

We traded in a telluride for the Jeep Grand Cherokee L Summit with the 5.7 hemi. The infotainment center with night vision and seats with massage plus upgraded leather . 7200 lb towing, air ride 4x4 there is no competition when you get to the mid 60 price point.

The Jeep is beautiful on the outside. Sadly it has less features for a higher price than the Telluride. One minor item I have noticed lacking in some three row crossovers is ceiling air conditioning vents in the rear. Since cold air naturally sinks downward, the ceiling location creates a more comfortable experience for rear passengers. The Telluride has them and the Jeep doesn't. As much as I love the looks of the Jeep, the Telluride is a better value in my opinion. Thanks for the great comparison review. You guys give the best reviews!!!

Because the Jeep has the in the c pillars which is much better then in the ceiling. The Jeep also has more features then the Telluride like air suspension, night vision, and massage seats with significantly more adjustability. The Jeep may be more expensive but it should be because it is a nicer vehicle in pretty much every regard. It competes better with the Aviator, GV80, XC90, and Q7 vs the Telluride, Pilot, Highlander.

Telluride is a puffed up minivan with regular rear doors styled by JC Whitney to look like a Cadillac.

Unless you need the off-road (which the Kia has zero capability), you may as well just stick with the Telluride vs. a lower end JGC. The Telluride/Palisade are just SUV bodies on the Sedona minivan platform. At the GC Limited, Summit or higher level though the JGC is in a different class altogether. Massive off-road capability, Best in World ZF transmission. Real luxury trim as opposed to fake. If you put the V8 on there you are two planets apart from any Kia or Hyundai.

The Telluride has awesome off road capability! I guess you haven’t watched any Telluride off-road video’s. It didn’t win World Car of the Year for nothing!

Someone who gets it! The Kia is an attempt at luxury but it is in no way a luxury SUV. It is like a kid trying on dads business clothes. The GC L Summit Reserve interior, ride quality and road noise outclass anything within 40k of it. It made an SQ8 feel dated and cheaper. That is pure insanity. Jeep killed it with this things interior in the high trim.

The Telluride IS a premium car! Drive one before you make that judgement. I’ve had Range Rovers stop & compliment my Telluride. A Jeep is a Jeep.

For me the warranty wins me over to the KIA. My personal experience with Jeep has been very bad particularly since the Mercedes take over. The death wobble and how it was handled destroyed my love for jeep. I will never trust them again. They essentially took no responsibility. With KIA the warranty is what it is and they’ve more than proven themselves as a strong reliable company over the past decade. Plus the styling is amazing. Luxury

I laugh at the KIA for trade value as well. I went and looked at one and they had a 7k MARKET ADJUSTMENT! 57k for a KIA is nuts! Just ordered a 2022 GCL limited, black appearance package, and LUX tech 2 package, dealer also discounted put me at 54k. You have to be smoking something to buy a KIA at such an inflated number. If we were talking about MSRP or less, than it is a good bargain. The center display and buttons look very outdated on the KIA, as well as the analog gauges.
