    Important difference between the two drives is the fact that T7 is an NVME storage with integrated USB C plug (single PCB inside), while T5 is basically an mSATA drive (860 EVO) plugged into an adapter card for USB connectivity. My concern is when the USB socked is damaged or in any other way rendered non functional, it is possible to recover the data (and the actual storage module) from a T5 rather easilly (2 philips scelrews under a sticker and another 2 to release the mSATA module), while it is entirely out of scope of a regular or even a tech savy user to tecover even only the data from a T7. Worth keeping in mind when purchasing. Still a best practice to keep good and regular backups of important data though.

    • @MrPanujit
      @MrPanujit ปีที่แล้ว

      Very important info indeed. I was searching whether any of the above could be used as a portable casing for spare NVME SSD's (Reason being casing for NVME SSD's are still very pricey at our country). The answer for T7 is definitely no.

    I got the T7 Shield on sale and I love that it indeed reads/writes very fast for its class. I am planning to only use an SSD for editing sports photos and videos, and then moving the raw and edited files onto a larger HDD for storage purposes. Many recommend having both but recommend against using the HDD for actual editing etc due to slow speeds, crashing, etc. I plan to get a larger TB for the HDD, with the SSD only being used to temporarily store whatever im working on. What size would you recommend getting for the SSD? Will 500GB be enough, or should I go for the 1TB? Looking to save money hopefully, since I'll have to save up and purchase both lol. Thanks!

    • @ScooterMediaVideos
      @ScooterMediaVideos  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That is exactly how I use the drives, editing off of the ssd's and then storage on hdd's. I would say if your are editing mostly photos then the 500 gb would probably be enough but if you are going to be editing alot of videos, I would recommend the 1 tb version as it doesn't take long to fill them up with video files.

      AFAIK, every phone would have different results as the speed rating of each phone's internal memory is different. Most of the phones speed rating is way below 500 MBPS. So, any SSD (SATA, mSATA, NVME, whatever it is) would yield similar result. Bottomline: it all depends on the phone.

Also, if you happen to have an android phone you could try plugging the drive into the phone to see if you can access the files.

    the 3:31 finger sensor sucks. if too cold doesn’t work, too hot doesn’t work, if my hand is a little clammy doesn’t work. oh don’t try to many times it will lock you out. yeah i returned it. it blows. i prefer the ssd t5, maybe i’ll look into to the T9 now

    I can't find the T5 on the market anymore. On the other hand, the T7 is now considerably cheaper. My MacBook pro 2016 cannot take advantage of the 3.2 gen 2 speed, therefore I guess I will not see the difference in speed. I just hope it will work anyway like the T5

    • @ScooterMediaVideos

      @@ScooterMediaVideos yes, I've seen it too but it's currently unavailable, pretty much the same on amazon UK or US or Germany. The only available option is used. In any case, if the T7 will work exactly like the T5, that would be perfect, but I'm not sure if Reading a 3.2 gen with a 3.1 gen USB port will cause any conflict... That's my only concern actually

    • @Dariocomposer
      @Dariocomposer ปีที่แล้ว

      The alternative option with still 3.1 gen USB port is the SanDisk Extreme Portable, which apparently has the same speed of the T7, but with this type of USB port. Only problem, apparently, is that it gets super hot

      In the bottom right hand corner of your computer there is a symbol that looks like an up arrow, press that and a few more icons will pop up, press the one that looks like a usb stick and then eject the drive from there. It should say "safe to eject drive now".

  • @raghavendramaiyabc

    Samsung T5 was a great device. It uses SATA technology. Not sure why Samsung has stopped manufacturing this model.
    Samsung T7, T7 shield and SanDisk Extreme portable SSDs become overheated quickly. Because these models use NVMe technology.
    Other than these, SanDisk Extreme portable SSD model also has data loss issue.
    Samsung SSDs have blinking indicator light (when it gets plugged in) which is not present in SanDisk SSDs.
    Overall Samsung portable SSDs are better

      i have spent years using them on my BMPCC 4k to shoot raw. i give them absolute hell and they never struggle under any load. didn't know about the T7 using PCIE. the heat is created by the speed of the data leaving the dies i would suggest. Nvme itself would not create heat.
