As someone who is an entertainer for children, this made me feel upset and hurt. Yes, it is for story wise and I am not blaming the writers or crew, I am upset about the in depth universe of The Purge and with this teacher. Yes, feelings are difficult to manage at times, especially bad feelings. At the same time there are healthy ways to express and communicate and even deal with these issues in ways that don’t hurt other people or ourselves. This teacher was using tactics and even lessons that are very similar to what Mister Rogers educated and turned them into negativity and it just hurts.

To answer your question kids are not off limits they are fair game. Because as it says only high level officials are off limits in all except one of the movies.
