- Lets shine the spotlight on Swamp Thing's very own Frankenstein's Monster: Gregori Arcane, aka the Patchwork Man!
Patchwork Man and Swamp Thing were created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson. Both characters are properties of DC Comics.

As you pointed out he is a tragic character. He had a sad life, with little comfort. I think his death was really emotional. Ps: loved the fact you had that lost Patchwork Man story. I think that is not a coincidence. Thanks for the video.
Was it fate? ;) And you're welcome!
Mr. Rogues Perhaps; I dont know; but its unusual. Be well see you soon on another video.
He Looks like if Crazy Quilt took his name literally
@darth piett Nope have not read it
@darth piett it is the practice of making patchwork with a knitting needle
Or perhaps he's DC's answer to Jigsaw, the archfoe of the Punisher
I like that this character actually got an actual ending instead of being milked till he became unrecognizable like what sometimes happens with tragic characters. Can’t say I heard of him before but you really can’t go wrong when using Frankenstein for inspiration.
Love the original Swamp Thing series! Bernie Wrightson was an amazing artist!
Scott Free Me too he was great and unique.
That guy is the definition of a tragic character. Hopefully Patchwork Man will be in the upcoming Swamp Thing TV series that's coming to the DC streaming service.
He is in swamp thing series
Very tragic character, it actually almost brought a tear to my eye
Anton is the actual villain.
Jack groves of course he is
he's also SEVERELY underused in the original Swamp Thing comics from the 70's. he only got like two appearances in that series before eing dragged away y ghosts. then he inexplicably comes back in the Alan Moore revamp.
Sara Fontanini what's the difference between Underrated and underused?
@@srstriker6420 when a character is underrated he doesnt get the praise he deserves.
But an underused character doesnt appear much.
He is a monster. Egotistical, unethical, abominal and out-of-his-mind.
Amazingly, I had HEARD of the Patchwork Man, but I basically knew nothing about him other than his name, his basic look, and the fact he was a Swamp Thing Rogue. Obscure and relatively short-lived as he may have been, I think this guy had a lot of potential, based on what you've shown us here, and while I agree the ending(s) he got were powerful, I actually do wish that we could have gotten more of him. ON THE OTHER HAND, his whole story essentially sounds like a cross between Boris Karloff's Frankenstein Monster (you will note I credit that one specifically, since the book version of the character is very different) and Mr. Freeze (just replace his wife Nora with his daughter Abby). At first that sort of sounds awesome, but then I keep reminding myself that the Universal Sequels didn't exactly do much good for the Monster after his first two or three films, and that Freeze, renowned as he is, is actually a really hard character for writers to handle at times. So maybe it's for the best.
Read a Swamp Thing collection last year. Didn't know Patchwork Man had come back after that. Thanks! Great work! His solo story reminds me of Marvel's Frankenstein comic from the '70's.
I feel very sad for patchwork man poor man
Thank you so much for this video! I always got Patchwork Man and the Rag Doll mixed up, now I'm sure I won't forget
Moral is NEVER take shortcuts
Just watched this vid conveniantly near Halloween 2023, awesome vid... thanks Mr Rogues & happy Halloween from London 🇬🇧☔
0:45 - Patchwork man's stories
7:30 - Rogue's opinion
Wow rogues, it's like Patchwork Man is DC's answer to Jigsaw, the Punisher's sworn enemy
Forgotten super villains : clock king ( the william tockman version ). I say It's about time we get a video about him, don't keep the guy waiting. I know making these videos is probably very time consuming but he is one of my all-time favourite obscure DC rogues.
See what i did there ?
Yea, it’s time to stop
Since I discovered this channel it has went up fast as one of my favorite youtuber channels keep up the good work
Very interesting publication history for the poor guy. Are you aware of the Green Arrow / Batman villain Onomatopoeia? He's only been involved in 3 major stories focused around him (One Green Arrow, the other two Batman), and I'm not sure he's made any appearance since New 52 happened. He's a pretty interesting, if not very realized character, at least for me. Also just wondering your opinions on the villain Prometheus. If I recall correctly in your Wrath video you said Wrath was your favorite anti-batman, and your thoughts on him weren't themselves the best anyway, so I'm interested in if you like Prometheus in anyway, or just don't really care for him. I don't think he's really a great character, however that being said I do find him really cool personally, and sometimes that's all a character needs. His lair itself is enough to make him stick in my mind.
I like the idea of a Swedish DC universe
A brilliant Frankensteinian creature
I loved this character
Nice patchwork
I really like videos you release , that it inspired me to do superheroes and villains of many different comic book companies besides Marvel and Dc , a recent one I did a few minutes ago is over the Wicked Comics hero known as KillSwitch
Great choice for a horror themed month.
Thanks! You cant have Halloween without Frankenstein. So, now all we need is a vampire - as I've already done a werewolf. ;) So far though, I haven't found a suitable vampire - whose obscure enough. I mean there's several one shot vampires here and there, but I really want to avoid covering rogues whose only appeared in one single issue; those videos just end up being too short.
You know when I saw the description, I thought it was from one of the video I linked you about the scariest villains in comics, took me my surprise when it wasn't them.
Anyway, I have a villain request for you, and it's a Green Lantern one, Black Hand. Originally written as a standard super villain, he was revamped in the Post-Crisis continuity to become a darker, more disturbing character who eventually brought about the rise of the Black Lanterns and the events of Blackest Night. Seeing as how he's a Green Lantern villain and also a horror villain, I thought he'd be perfect for this month, although I'm uncertain where he'd fit in.
I can say for sure that Black Hand wont show up this october, BUT, it's very possible in the future. He, and many other GL rogues, really need to show up on this channel. I've been thinking for a long time about doing my top 5 best GL rogues, and hopefully I'll get to that before the year's over.. :P
Aw, well in that case, how about Gentleman Ghost, a Hawkman foe who's associated more as a Batman rogue, likely because his visual design fits more with the gothic architecture of Gotham City. If not that, then perhaps something a bit out of the ordinary, like the EC Horror Comics, Goosebumps, or even Dick Tracy!
Definitely never heard of him.
Hmm, would you guys say he could be rebooted character? Or left best as a one time villain?
im not sure but the house of secrets might have been one of the titles canceled due the 70s dc implosion
I have a few requests:
1. Forgotten Super Hero: Spider Queen. She actually predates Spider Man with a rather interesting gimmick that a lot of people may recognize. She showed up 1941, 21 years before Spider Man.
2. Forgotten Villain: The Walrus. Somehow, able to defeat an entire team of heroes but mostly a joke.
3. Forgotten Hero: Mad Hatter - Grant Richmond he was created in 1946, about two years before the Batman villain.
4. Forgotten Hero/Villain: Bozo the Iron Man - A robot that was first controlled for evil and later used for good. Predated the better known Iron Man by thirty-two years having come out in 1931.
5. Forgotten Hero: Kangaroo man. Can you imagine a super hero that's actually just a trained animal? Well "Bingo" the Kangaroo is just that. Although just an "ordinary trained kangaroo" he could even ride a motorcycle. Debuted 1941.
6. Forgotten Hero: Doll Man. Considering the popularity of Ant-Man and the Wasp, try the first shrinking super hero. This is Doll Man, a character who could shrink to about six inches. He even teams up with Ant Man on a few occasions. He first appeared in 1939.
Thanks for the great suggestions! I may end up doing a few of these; some of them I've already even considered.
Great! Thanks!
Another one that I think you might want is:
Forgotten Supervillain: Humpty Dumpty real name: Humphrey Dumpler. Poor misguided soul that is probably the most sympathetic villain I've ever seen in Batman comics. His main appearance was, "Arkham Asylum: Living Hell." From there he's pretty much just made cameo appearances.
An interesting one, a review on a very well educated kangaroo, that would surely take the cake
Try an underrated rogues video on gentleman ghost. He was one of my favorite villains on the brave and the bold, and he has a great unique look.
Hey Abby's dad! The DC Universe series gives us a glimpse, no doubt a test to see if it worked for potential future seasons.
Len Wein's "muck encrusted mockery of man" Swamp Thing is filled with dark poetry! But I never knew Patchwork Man had his own stories! Whoa thanks so much!!!
Must track that down now!
Do forgotten supervillain jarhead
Is that DC or Marvel?
Marvel
Im ugly from the insideout and yet life can be freaking cruel to this unfortunate soul .
I love your vids man
If swamp thing were to have a film the patchwork man needs atleast a cameo he deserves justice!
Wow. What a sad story
Are you going to do a video on Anton himself?
You’re a legend
Can you do a video on anton arcane
Guess I’m first, but who cares. Been a fan of yours for a while, this is my first time commenting.
As always, great work.
Thanks man!
@@mr.rogues4145 what's the background music called
@@michaelflame1965 Industrial Music Box by Kevin MacLeod.
@Mr. Rogues: It's a shame this guy never showed up in any of the Swamp Thing movie or TV series before. He probably would've been a perfect antagonist in a Swamp Thing TV series or movie. Would be pretty cool if he showed up in the new Swamp Thing TV series that Warner Bros. is trying to develop for their DC Universe streaming service! On an unrelated note; do you plan on watching season 3 of Daredevil when it premieres this week?
It's coming this week? I've been waiting ages for it! Daredevil and Punisher are basically the only "super hero" shows I really like.
Yes! It's going to be premiering tomorrow on the 19th! I'm so excited for it; it seems like it's going to be one hell of a season!
@@mr.rogues4145 especially since Matt and Frank were childhood friends
There was a 2nd Patchwork Man called Elliot Taylor who was one of the Creature Commandos.
I like your content I subscribed
Simon Garth aka the original Marvel zombie would be perfect for a Spooktober video.
Aww he is such a sad character
I have the issue in which he dies. Never knew anything about him. Great video!
Question, i wonder what is the background song you used
The background music is called Industrial Music Box by Kevin MacLeod.
I remember this guy! Shame he only appeared in one issue.
Do a comic review on "Batman vs Predator"
This Patchwork Man was a villain. You could do another story with the second Patchwork Man as a hero. The second Patchwork Man is a member of the Creature Commandos. or you can simply do a video in which you discuss the Creature Commandos. I look forward to either one.
Especially when it came to the second Swamp Thing movie
There was a patchwork man 2 in the creature commandos
You should do Meme, he was an x-men villain, a morlock, pretty ad-hoc with spooktober
Gotham rouges do Gentleman Ghost next please
Yeah, I remember the gud old patchwork man. Ironically he is the only Swamp Thing villain I remember...
Abattoir still take your fancy?
There's a character in a game based on patchwork man
Please do some unforgeten superheros
Don't you mean "forgotten superheroes"?
Please do something on THE U-MEN
Well well I never knew Arkham Asylum had a Swiss branch.
If hero's are in we can get a great lakes avengers video. Mister immortal .. he dies a lot that's his power..
Mister immortal cant die.
SweDC Universe!
DC can make justice league, why not add this sentimental character a Constantine & swamp thing piece which gives him a happy ending or recognition.
I would have liked that instead of that monstrosity (pun)
I like this story, but how is he a super-villain?
What happened with the video quality?
If you mean the sound, I had to remove a bunch of background noise, which for some reason gave it this weird, crappy quality. Hopefully it wont happen again.
thanks man, i love your videos
2 episodes in one week, Hhhhhhhhhhuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!!!
You're Swedish? I can't tell any non-American accent
Sorry. This should be irrelevant to the video. It is inconsequential.
But this is an interesting character.
visste inte att du var ifrån sverige.
Visst fan är jag det ;)
