@@CiiDisabledGang 4-9 hours. You can pause anytime though and go back we're you started also you have 90 days to complete after starting the test. The quiz answers are timed.
Thank you! I finally acquired my hunting license. It was easier than expected. I finished and in hours my profile with the CDWF was updated (this happend amid this pandemic - Jun). I printed the certificate Hunter Ed gives but at a Big 5 Sporting Goods they just asked for ID and payment in about 5 minutes I was out with my hunting license. I'm just waiting until July to finally buy a long gun.

Ive finished the hunters ed course, going to purchase the license when my Go Id uploads. Do I need any other info/ certificates to be able to purchase a rifle/ shotgun?
Andrew Romero a valid California ID , and be prepared to wait 10+ days. And must be 21 years or older unless you have proof you are / were in the military or a peace officer or have a valid California fish and game issued hunting license ( which you do ).

I moved to and live in Los Angeles, and have no experience starting at 34.
I didn't even now where to start and wasn't getting much info since I don't have hunting friends. This clip just took a huge load off my mind to get started.

What I can never find is tags I’m so confused on where I purchase tags it’s probably so simple it’s why I can’t find anything on it
So tags are either sold over the counter, or through a draw system. It’s too late in the season to buy anything IMO but you can try going to Walmart and see what they have left.

I'm getting my hunting license for the first time in California and the first time as an adult. I'm of two minds about the course. If you don't need all that information and time to digest it it feels highly excessive. A simple test would suffice.
If you do need it because you didn't grow up with firearms hunting, maybe 10 hours of education is in order. It's leaving a sour taste in my mouth.

Right on thanks for the info. I started into firearms with pistols and ive recently picked up a couple rifles and want to get into hunting. I live in the sac area know of any places to hunt near me? How would i go about finding places to hunt?

Oroville.....FYI, for a limited covid time, CA hunt safety is ALL ONLINE. no physical class required.
also Oroville gun range is Free, wide open city owned range, open from sun up til.sin down.....has clay pits for rec vehicles, skeet, hunting area........Oroville wildlife area.

Awesome first ep! I've been trying to get into hunting in my state for the last year. I've got my GOID and applied for a license last year but expired without harvest... Due in part to not knowing what to do next, or finding the right information to properly get a tag. Is there any more information or resources you guys (or anyone here) can point me to? Looking at the maps and specific tags has been confusing. Thanks!

@@TriedandTrue916i just completed mine a few min ago. took about 5 hrs, you can start and stop when u want ,each page is timed, otherwise could prob do it in an 1.5 hrs. it says that my hunter ed cert will auto be uploaded to my CA fish/wildlife profile within 24 hrs, then i can purchase annual hunt license online or print it and take to licensing agency (walmart), license is $51.02

Does foreigner or tourist who comes from other country can be allowed to buy and own gun or borrow gun for hunting in your country?
Does each state settle regulations for each state? Is a license just for each state or can be allowed to go hunting in all states?
Is there any agent or consultant whoever can help foreigner or tourist to get license and go hunting?

Hunting license is by state. (If I wanted to hunt in Texas I would need a non resident license). As long as you have a hunter safety completion, you can hunt in any state once your purchase their respective license or tag. Each does set their own rules on hunting so make sure to check out the regulations on their hunting or fishing website. I am not sure about the tourist portion, but I would definitely check out ca fish and wildlife website for that. Maybe even email them? Any ways hope that helped... kinda!
In our area, nobody is allowed to buy guns, shooting and hunting are strict and unreasonable restricted and ruled.
If someone has those many guns and cartridges as you do, must be put in jail for many years, even more than 100 years or shot to death by government.
We are eager to go hunting and shooting, but out of area, go abroad to other country only.

There’s unreasonable and strict restrictions and ruling in our area, rulers always want to keep ruling power at all. The laws of apply to guns are nominally, nobody is allowed to buy guns and cartridges actually, all are cheating people in the world.

What happens is they dont tell you that after you pass online for your first time one has ro wait for someone to give you a follow up. I've been waiting at less four or 5 months to hear back aftera and hour followup. This is after i made tons of calls to fish and game. What should I do from here. Now that june is the next time classes are here and the Covid-19 hit.
The voucher you obtained from the online portion should be good for a while. Unfortunately with all this Covid, you have to wait till classes reopen. Once they open you can just attend the class. Sorry this virus postponed everything!
I understand the virus put everything on hold but thats not why couldn't get the follow up. I even drove a 100 miles to ask questions as that's the only place I could go, tried speak with the game Warren's who couldn't help. They don't have the right information that's a must all I want is to hunt for food like all the normal people lol. Thanks for responding.

I’m having trouble getting my Go ID.
Hey where can I get my GO ID because I try to register for it and it just asks for my date of birth and then asks what my GO ID is and obviously I don’t have one yet

Do you need to have a certain type of rifle to hunt?? Can it be a ar style rifle??
Most people prefer bolt action due to size of caliber and stopping power, but as long as it’s CA compliant, you can.

Great question! The traditional in class method is just longer. The online and follow up class is just meant to help with time. Traditional in class will be hunting safety 101. Very simple and easy!

Alright so I am about 12 years old and once I have done all of online how do I go get my license and show identification if I don’t have a drivers permit or state ID? And if not is there a way to just do it all online with no in person practice?
I believe post Covid you can do it all online. Whatever safety course you take automatically updates the department of fish and wildlife. Once you apply for your license it will already be in the system that you completed your safety course. So I would go ahead and make a CDFW account and use your name and social if you know that.

Has to follow guide lines including; lead free, 3 rounds, featureless, etc.

Great question! No. Some people get their license before even buying their first gun. All you need is a valid ID

Hi guys, i got a license last march but didnt use it. I probably need a new license but how does a beginner get started? Ive been googling but not finding too much.
So I take it your already have passed your safety certification. So if you asking on how to get into the actual hunting? I would say start with something easy and try to go with a buddy. For example jack rabbit or coyote, available all season and no need for tags. Then once you start getting more comfortable step up your game and do some waterfowl or upland bird.

Hey I got a question. Lets say im 18-20 therefore Im required to get a hunting license to buy a shotgun in California. Will I need to renew my license in order to keep my gun legally even if I am just using the license to purchase a gun and not actually hunt?
I’m pretty sure they rule changed as of 21, not sure I would ask a local dealer, but no you would not need to renew your license.

Awesome welcome to the club! So not sure with this whole Covid thing on classes currently, (maybe I’m wrong) but the test consists of 100 simple common sense questions. Find some practice tests online.
There is no follow up class at the time. All criteria can now be met online for California. Am literally doin mine now. Take about 4 hrs. Is $24.99..... hunter-ed
I have my liscence but its temporary is that normal ID k im getting in to hunting small game and im really trying to find a invasive species to hunt
I believe you should be fine. Depending on what state you live in, I would research local invasive species. Usually, that type of game requires little to no licensing.

Correct. Your certificate gets stored in the system and you get a “GO ID” . Then you just buy a license!

The answer is yes. Just show the certificate to CDFW licensing office and they will honor it. I think you can even email.

Not sure if they updated it because of covid but currently you can do the entire thing online, no in person meeting. After you pass the class they will email you the card which you print

How many question is the follow up course test
It depends on the class, but usually 100 multiple choice questions. Ranging from common sense gun safety, to basic hunting rules.
