Completed the hunter safety course few weeks ago online (due to corona it was offered online), now I am waiting to sign up for the bow-hunter safety course, then I just have to buy a bow and practice and im set for my first hunting season in the Fall!
Thanks Allie. Growing up in Minnesota I never hunted but most recently I have enjoyed the outdoors by taking walks in my neighborhood park as my workout routine during the summer months and early fall and would love to do hunting and outdoor activities in the future because it helps my mental disorder. I really appreciate this. ❤
Make a budget. Find someone that knows their archery. Or find a nice archery shop with staff that care and aren’t looking for the next sale. And go try bows regardless of their make. Mission, PSE, Diamond, Bear, don’t know if Hoyt and Elite have budget bows. Probably some other names out there, trad bowhunter now. Which is a completely different rabbit hole to go down if interested. What someone might like in a bow: you may hate.
Looking to get started hunting have been doing some research online and apparently in VA where I live as long as you’re above a certain age you don’t need the hunter course you just pay and apply for a hunting license
I have a question how much does it cost to hunt in the US? And I'm not talking about the travel expenses ammunition and equipment , just the licenses for big game and small game. I assume it varies from state to state but could you give me an example or at least a ballpark. PS I love your channel.
As a new hunter this year with my girlfriend. We certainly appreciate this information . The app you mentioned about finding public land helps alot . Thanks Allie. keep up the awesome info 👊

Allie, did a great job here, but I would add, learn basic first aid skill, and learn basic survival skills; map skills, shelter, water and fire..... I would say the number one skill to learn, is building a fire in any condition. Stay safe out there.
Excellent video Allie!! 2 things. Hunter Safety certifications are valid in other states if one decides they want to hunt another state. Also, I highly recommend having a good mentor. I know most of us get interested because of a dad, family member or significant other (like you and Nick), but if someone is interested and don't have anyone, you'd be surprised how many state agencies can put someone in touch with a new hunter. Colorado does a fantastic job in that area and actually have a TH-cam series just for this.
Nice job Allie, Great idea. That's the thing. All us older hunters often forget what it was like to start with, especially if we came from a non hunting or outdoor family as I did. Well done and looking forward to seeing what you can teach them. Thanks.......Damon from Australia.
