This BGM is draining my brain cells almost as fast as Aquas, fitting with Kanade's "No thoughts, head empty" expression
even members are saying that they are similar xD
Oooo umh umh umh
Combined with her 0,75 talking speed it almost feels like trying to get out of quicksand or trying to escape from your paralysis demon😅
It's messing with my head because this is Bae's ending screen BGM so I keep thinking the stream is ending.
@@aomarithis, for me as well 😂
I’m Japanese high school student. I’m glad fan of hololive have been increasing by en and id in the world. And I want to be able to understand her streaming.
Her Japanese is so cute!!
Sorry, I’m not good at English.
Your English is great. It's not an easy language to learn. Be proud.
Stand proud hololive.
JP bro your English is already on a level people can understand, good job!
My friends. first stop using "Sorry, I’m not good at English." that just discouraging yourself. be proud. your english (as in this comment) is at the point you can make normal conversation. Great work!
Fantastic English! Keep practicing!
Calli: “I wanted to show them that we’re working hard”
And show they did! No exaggeration to say that Myth’s impact on the EN VT space is insurmountable ^^
it probably helps that Coco maybe had a hand in helping make it a reality due to her bi-national heritage.
@@Bakuganluver23 Coco laid the groundwork, but the significance of having successful full-time English Vtubers cannot be understated.
and ironically the one who works the least hard of all of them is the most popular
@@andylawlzz and the one that works the most hard of all of them is the most hated online. The internet truly is a magical place
Tell that to gura
Coco and Haachama paved the way for EN but the Myth girls built that goddamn temple.
Calli reached out to the music sphere outside of weebs, Tenchou bridged the language barrier, Ame did technical work, Ina handled art while Goomba became the face of EN, and they did it by making mistakes and learning to be better. Maybe the new generations are fresh and entertaining but never forget the gen 1 pioneers of every branch carried everyone to where we are now.
Couldn't be more proud to witness it all.
I’m kind of jealous about people they really know HoloEN history. I feel I miss a lot of things. (my mother language not English thought) really need HoloEN Wiki.
@waohope one day, the newer generations will tell you the same. Envying how you know well the Gens of this day, to be a witness to a memory they could only read in texts.
I was in the rabbit hole when Coco debuted, I envy THE TWELVE that were there when Sora just debuted. But these memories we shall share one day, even when we're in our 60s and they've all graduated because as Hololive has put it, we shall live in the moment. And we shall always share this moment with others.
When I wrote the original comment, Myth was complete. Now I write this one, Ame has gone her Ameway.

yea calli is one of the most hard workers in entire hololive and she definitely proved it .

Calli, AO-chan, and Kaela somehow competing for most work humanly possible to do.
Kanade's reactions plus the close-up cracked me up.
I've noticed that the JP members tend to do that when someone is talking. The "hm hm hm hm" sounds and the like. I looked around the Internet and apparently in Japan it's customary to do that to show someone you are listening to them.
@@Pseudowolf yeah and if you didn’t nod and “hm hm…” or “hai.. hai..” they might think you didn’t listen to them or you don’t understand anything what they just said. When you learn japanese through classes, the teachers would also teach about nodding when listening to someone’s speech. That is why sometimes we wonder why japanese people nod even through a phone call.
@@YTReturnzI had a coworker who moved to the US from Japan only a few years before I met them. Legit, he thought that everyone in the US were just staring at him like he was a weirdo or something. He said that I did that too and I was like "Wtf I listen to everything you say! What do you mean?" Then I learned what you said; that japanese people expect "hm hm hm" and "hai hai hai" along with the nods so Americans looked sooooooooo rude despite paying attention to what he was saying. He adjust really fast though and realized that Americans have...... different ways of being rude...
On the flip side, whenever I was talking with him, I thought it was really weird that he kept making noises and nodding the whole time. It definitely felt like he was paying attention, but it also made me feel like he was pressuring me to hurry up or keep going so I just kept talking faster and coming up with more things to say...
This looks like a little kid sitting on her grandma's lap asking for stories of the good old days
More like asking for advice for their future. Kanade wants to be known for her music, She has been asking some of her senpai about it.
But Myth really was something special, as if the stars aligned.
It’s hard to stress how skeptical people were when HoloEn was announced. We were excited, sure - tentatively - but it was a lot of “Will western people care about idols? Is there enough of an audience here to support them? Will the fans be able to integrate into the culture? Will EN talents be able to interact in the company? Will the company be able to actually support them?” Etc.
We really didn’t expect much of anything, honestly. We definitely didn’t expect Myth to be so…well…mythical.
I remember being incredibly hyped. I wasn't worried how they would do, but holy crap, when I saw the numbers they got right off the bat, that was insane. I think no one was prepared for the juggernaut that Myth would be straight out of the gate 😱
@@brothermoth689 I’m not saying we weren’t hyped or I wasn’t hyped. It was just that no one knew how it would go. Hololive was gaining steam in Japan, JP Hololive was gaining steam worldwide, but an EN branch? Would that work? No one knew.
We had no idea.
@@TheJum and let's not forget Gura's meteoric RISE into being EN's "face", so to speak.
Man, I also remember them getting so much crap for every little thing. How any tiny slip or delay or gap in streaming was maliciously misconstrued as "coasting," "not trying hard enough," or "just being in Holo as a stepping stone and not being actually committed." And then when they did blow up, you had some resentful stans of other branches not liking them for overtaking some older JP or ID members quickly. Those voices settled down eventually, though there are still some die hards who will pop up every now and then, looking at any perceived flaw to blow out of proportion.
@@TheJum It's actually understandable because I think Hololive wasn't sure if there was a big demand from western side that are into vtubers that time. Thankfully, I'm glad it went well for Myth.
Myth back then set the highest debut standard ever for vtubers around the world. And even till today, it is really hard to match the quality they showed in their debut.
To be fair, they had basically every expectation on them at the time, not helped by the fact that THE biggest name for VTubing was venturing into something largely new (and dare I even say niche) at the time.
And my god Calli came out swingin’.
Kinda ironic with how incredibly scuffed some of the debuts were, special shoutouts to Ame being so sleep deprived and delirious she couldn't even remember what she did during her debut.
Imo Advent top that
not really? There was a fair amount of scuff in the debuts but that's what made it so special, like don't get me wrong a debut is an important thing and you should try your best to not mess it up but the scuff from the debut is just something special because its your first time seeing your new potential oshi and it turns into a very memorable moment
Nah not really, if we're going pure quality Advent had that down with literally no scuffs or technically problems whatsoever. During Myth, there quite a couple of apparent issues back then, but that made it all the more endearing and memorable
Calli was the one who convinced me to give Holo a try
Same. She's literally the reason why I got into vtubers.
looks like that makes three of us
I woukd say that make's 4 of us
I would say that makes 5 of us
I'd seen various Vtuber clips back in 2020 (Miko GTAV inccident), but It wasn't until I saw her song: "Off With Their Heads" that I was really pulled into the rabbit hole. Although I am a Takodachi, Mori holds a special place in my heart for being my gateway into this incredible world.
thanks for the closed up for Kanade's reaction
And now, almost FOUR YEARS later, I couldn't imagine Hololive without the EN girls.
To think that what was originally 5 adorb goof balls has now grown into a 15 member branch!

You just had to be there. Myth's debut blew everyone away.
I love how Kanade has been seeking advice from her music related senpai, It shows how much She really wants to have a career in music.
It shouldn't be understated just how important Hololive English's debuts were.
I remember reading somewhere that said "There will never be another (Vtuber) Generation like Hololive Myth." and I feel that is correct.
Holo EN and holo ID must be appreciated for their hard work. I also felt doubtful when Holo ID Gen 1 was announced. I thought at that time maybe Holo ID generation 1 wouldn't last long. As an Indonesian, I understand the culture in my country
Why do I think like that? Because there used to be a lot of idols in Indonesia in 2013/2014. In the end, idol culture didn't last long, it only lasted 2 years. The idol in Indonesia that still exists is Jkt48. I am very grateful that Holo ID can continue until now
Because of COVID restrictions, Myth really was an island unto themselves, not able to get as much support from Japan as they would have liked, which is why Myth embraced the "We'll do it ourselves!" mentality; I mean, Ame built a whole-ass 3D home studio just for Kiara once travel restrictions to the US were relaxed and the 5 girls could finally meet IRL...well, she built it for MORE than Kiara, but I don't know how much use it has seen since then...
The 5 girls of Myth worked incredibly hard in the first 2 or so years to build themselves up and then to be supportive senpai to IRyS & Council. Myth walked so Promise & Advent can run. That work ethic has made Myth EXTREMELY well-respected, not just within hololive, but I am sure the greater Vtuber community. They EARNED those million-plus subs for each member. (Sadly, that same work ethic has also likely been a contributory factor to the burnout that Ame & Gura are currently experiencing...and Kiara just took her 1st serious break since debut in Sept 2020...)
And I am not discounting the part Coco played in all this. She planted the seed for an EN branch in Yagoo's head and pushed for it behind the scenes. Kaichou is a good part of the reason we have what we do now with EN.
It's a heart warming story but bro the goofy ass BGM bruh I can't.
Calli's really improving with her conversational Japanese. It's great to hear.
HoloMyth was one of the best things to ever happen to the en vtubing scene.
The EN vtuber sphere has always been more indifferent to the idol aspect of Hololive, so Calli feeling like she had something to prove with her music is understandable. Safe to say Myth succeeded beyond all expectation and turned the overseas fanbase around significantly with their efforts in the 3D concerts, culminating in Our Bright Parade when it became clear how many EN fans had embraced the idol experience.
I think it helps that as far as the talents attitudes go they also weren’t super trying to lean into the “idol” part of hololive. (It was still there, don’t get me wrong, but it wasn’t AS much there I feel.)
It's funny, when they wasn't following the idol path, but the work is exactly the same as idols/artists and goes further beyond, as content creation and multimedia for entertainment.
ID's debut struggled with low expectation and EN's debut struggled with high expectation
TBH, Holo Myth is what got me to discover Sora, Miko, Botan, Pekora, Subaru, Aki, Mel, etc. If it wasn’t for Myth, I don’t know if I would have fallen into the Hololive rabbit hole.
Funny. Kizuna is how I discovered Sora.
I remember the moment she showed up as the first member of HoloEN. What a way to introduce yourself to the world.
Myth's explosive growth was a phenomenon nobody could have predicted.
So now I see why I always view Calli as the leader of Myth, she was there first member. Also can we all take a moment to really look at this, they put in all that work and look at them now. Peeps were scared of the idea of an English branch at first, now the fans are wildly cheering for Advent the third english branch. Myth continues to act as the legends and the ground work for their kouhai
I remember the debut. I was not convinced it would be great, and got shut down immediately. Every single debut was great, and things only got better from them. I have never been happier to be wrong.
Calli, Kiara and Amelia have been serious workhorses for EN
Yup that is indeed true
i watched soooo many vtuber debuts that i lost count. i can still remember each of the myth debut like it was yesterday. They are legends.
I'm more impressed with ID still here. Considering the racial, political, religion and cultural tinderbox that is South-East Asia, and considerably lagging behind in term of technologies compare to JP, EU and NA.
Indeed. Let's give props to them to for working so hard and proving that hololive had a market outside of Japan in the first place.
@@franks777_KFP While I do think they deserve a lot of credit and are a bit underrated in that regard, I think the reason you don't hear people rave too much is 1: Nijisanji stepped into ID first, so by the time Holo did it, it was more of a "oh, Holo is following them, huh." And 2: and this is just hearsay, but I've heard that when Japanese companies want to experiment with the idea of going international but don't have the resources or confidence to go full tilt into Europe or NA, Indonesia is their goto "let's test the waters" country (large market, close, easy to set up), so it was almost more expected in a "small to medium Japanese companies branch into ID all the time, sometimes they're successful, sometimes not," kind of way.
It also helps the girls that were hired wanted to be in the Company for a long time / where hard working
Not the biggest ID fan outside of like 3 people but those chicks really do try their best despite being the least invested in branch
You're so true. Even I'm from ID, I doubted that holo ID would be successful when it first debuted, but all of that was overcome by their hard work and they can still survive today. When they had a concert at holofest I was very happy to see them😇
Arguably, the ID girls are not only closer as friends rather than coworkers, but have a closer bond with their fans, who don't judge them anywhere near as harshly as the JP or EN branches.
And woe unto you if you piss off the SEA fans. They will fight for their oshis.
Time before Myth debuted, there was so much doubt in the air. But then time went on, a few weeks passed, months went by. It was amazing seeing the Myth girls carve out their place in the Hololive universe. They made sure the EN brasch was here to stay.
Maybe at this point, this sounds like a broken record, but before Myth debuted, Coco, Haachama, and Holo ID gen 1 were at the forefront of English speaking V-tubers from Holo, so as much as people said that HoloMyth changed the game, we should never forget their senpais who crawled so Myth could begin their baby steps

P.S.: adding this one little fact that Holo ID 1st generation basically went through "baptism of fire" from both EN and ID community to get to where they're right now, my utmost respect to them for persevering
still couldn't believe how perfect of a line up holoEN Gen 1 was, we have a singer, an idol, a gamer, an artist, and, of course, a gura. Hololive truly captured 5 lightings in a bottle.
There's was so much drama in EN V-tubing at the time especially from V-Tweeters that many thought it would end up the same way, a lot of people thought that it wasn't something that could work in the west but they really proved people wrong and paved the way for the EN-Vtuber scene to be taken seriously. It hasn't been an easy road and they have had to overcome their share of drama and haters but I think they've been able to be really professional and bridge the gap between Japanese V-tubers and western ones.
To this day, I still can't wrap my head around how great Myth was (and still is).
Crazy how you can still feel the effect of that hard work until today. The girls really is a big part to hololive.
btw, i'm sorry, but everytime i watch kanade stream i can feel my brain eroding second by second.
Yup, i know what she's talking about clearly.
When EN was announced, the tide shifted so much. I still remember the feeling.
The first 5 members literally paved their own way.
Idk why people felt the way Calli described. It's not like ID wasn't already a thing at that time.
Last year her MV end of life keep getting recommended on my youtube, so I finally give in and watch it... Turn out I really like it, and then I watch another holomem MV & Cover videos and also liking it. After that I start waching their stream... And also liking them too... And now I just sink to deep 😅😂
I mean one myth member just had to say 1 letter and I was convinced this branch was gonna go far. Like hololive EN was seen as a golden ticket since the global market has so much greater potential than the domestic JP one. So there was a whole lot of expectation for EN to measure up.
bring back those memories when myth debuted and one of the most common thing at that time was people were confused as why they did not see the subtitle but still understood them
Gotta say I'm glad my exposure to vtubers (which got me into the rabbit hole) was the podcast, cos if I had watched Calli's debut stream there's no way I would have stuck around until she played RIP, that's how much I hate that kind of voice acting. With the podcast it was kinda annoying but it was still an interesting conversation. Then as it went on you could hear her relax and that got me hooked enough to check out the rest of the gen
The uncertainty was real before Myth debut. But those feelings washed away quickly after debut.
Then a whole load of new fans came in.
And look where Calli is now. She really catching up to Suisei's status on EN side. It also helps that she have experience for music production, and her debut song blows everyone out of the water, reaching the mainstream media.
Calli's Japanese really improved to conversational. She really is working hard.
Coming out the gate with so much content and passion definitely helped put HoloEN on the map as its own powerhouse, and not just a sub-branch of HoloJP
Without holomyth, we won't get to know kanauru and so many animators who helped them a lot
Still waiting for Gura to release her first EP

@@BeforeON3 Gura has "A" grand total of 4 original songs: REFLECT, blue horizon!!, Full Color, and Tokyo Wabi-Sabi Lullaby. Q (which was released on this day 2 years ago) might count as a fifth, but it might be more-i of a Calli-original.
The zoom-ins xD
You had the opportunity to add best girl's face when calli said sou desu yo ne
I don't get the doubt personally. Hololive EN debut was only a year after Gen 3 and 4, and Okakoro, and came hot on the heels of the debut of Hololive ID and CN which were still going strong, even without hindsight it's hard to imagine a world where not a single Holomyther blew up.
seeing calli with that BGM makes me have mixed feelings
and it's not a one off thing, she actually still works hard to this day
Funny that there was no order with the release of the songs... and yet they do feel like it had a perfect order of progression:
- Reaper or Rapper?: simple rap intro, not much of it beyond showing Calli's skill
- RIP: the REAL calling call of Calli and while she might not like it that much nowadays it is definitely a staple of "here I am, let me show you how I do my shit"
- Deadbeats: An inbetween both song, fun but an absolute shitpost. Basically something so her newest fans feel comfortable getting into the stream
- Live Again: the end of the show... and also a show that Calli can go soft. Works as a great anime ED
Hype around Calli's first MV being featured in her debut was my introduction to vtubers beyond Kizuna Ai. By the time I checked her debut VOD, and was impressed by what they could be, I'd missed Kiara's debut and nearly all of Ina's, which I caught the very end of. I made sure to be there for the rest, meaning that Gura and Ame's debuts were the first vtuber live streams I watched, and I haven't escaped the rabbit hole since. I can't imagine what they have been through, just from hearing the way they talk about how hard it's been, but if nothing else I hope they're reaping the results of their success.
i definitely thought it was going to suck at first because i’m the type of guy who watches all anime with subtitles but i quickly realized that with no original Japanese voice to compare them to, it didn’t matter in the slightest. now i definitely watch more EN Vtubers then JP!
Myth's debut was special, because so much of the content came DIRECTLY from Myth. So like Ina's art, Gura doing Ride on Time, Kiara with her quirky and funny energy, Calli rapping and releasing an EP, Ame's creativity and tech-supporting others. They were all SO interesting, even people who knew vtubers already were like, "WHOA, they're actually taking this super seriously."
It's hard to even communicate how much of a positive impression they made, though Kiara had a difficult time of it at first, because we wouldn't see her best side -- dancing and choreography -- until MUCH later.
And then Mori realized that no matter what you do Twitter will always hate you.
I've been a fan of Hololive even before the days of Coco and I have to say that wherever Calli got that idea that there were a lot of people doubting them, it was not in public space.
I do have to say though, I had my doubts too. I never said it anywhere, but it's clear there are communities that shared my thoughts.
From my experience, Gura is what really pulled everyone in, and well... The numbers show themselves, let's just say that. It was up to the rest of myth to keep them. They all showed individually what they were capable of. Literally, every each one of them had something unique to them to give. And they gave it their all.
That’s sad to here people actually doubted myth. I was in a pretty bad place when they debuted and with the help of them especially a certain gremlin I got better over time thanks to them. All I ever wanted for them was success.
Kanade the journalist 🥸
I’m beginning to forget what I even did or watched on TH-cam pre myth
One interesting thing about the Dead Beats EP is that several of the tracks are by Calli herself, including the mixing IIRC. I don't know if she's done that since for a commercial release.
Its true i was one of those doubters
I started watching some vtubers a few weeks before myth started streaming and thought "neat". I watched the debuts and a few streams from myth and thought "neat. That'll be a few million subs for each soon". I never look at social media because I like my braincells, so I know there were a lot of people constantly saying "this won't amount to anything" or always saying "wow, these people are just coasting on their fame" when they didn't stream twenty hours every day, because some people on youtube talked about that stuff, but I never really thought things would (or could) go any other way. I feel like this isn't just obvious in hindsight, and anyone who thought this was ever not going to work out spent too much time looking at twitter weirdos :D
lol, this is the first time ive heard Cali speak japanese without her fake american accent

Honestly understandable why they have doubts that EN branch will not be successful since western media are not really into virtual idol stuff. Gura's debut did skyrocketed EN Branch popularity.

I personally do think that. Cover also has big doubts about HoloEN especially before its debut or even during their first year.
HoloMyth was the rabbit hole for me
I was actually annoyed every time Shiny Smily Story appeared on TH-cam ads. But seeing all of Myth unique qualities change my perspective on Vtuber especially Hololive as a whole.
Myth is not quite idolish that I found them to be endearing, how I miss the TTRPG full Myth collab
Yes. I will be honest. I was one of them who doubted EN. I thought English speaking people are going to act like anime girls would be cringy,. I was dead wrong. Fell in love when I started watching them.
All you have to do is give it a chance
I have to admit I'm one of those doubters. I don't hate them tho, more like didn't care. It's because I'm so used to JP Vtubing at the time and was so skeptical of EN branch, thinking "It's just another twitch streamer, but in L2D anyway". Kinda regret my first 2 months for not paying any attention to any of their stream. If anything I was only watch Gura's karaoke clip/compilation someone posted on YT and that's it.
Now I'm just a fan of everybody lmao
I actually has the doubt about Hololive EN at first. Calli's rap song during debut impress me and make me thinking like "WOW!!! Hololive EN is a real deal!." . Calli and her genmate kickstarted the age of ENVtuber.
I feel some JP VT companies still don't treat their overseas branches with as much care as Hololive does.
The bgm is making my brain rot. xD
Back when Myth debuted, we expected them to be like what NijiEN is right now. Mismanaged normies who were Pokimane but anime. Good thing we got the best female streamers on the internet
I don't know if it had anything to do, but HoloEn announce a month after Aloe's graduate did make people think it was a way for cover to appease the fanbase. It was a pretty bad time for Hololive with the west Taiwan incident as well. 5th Gen just debuted too. Some comments are afraid they steal Gen 5 spotlight. In the end, 2020/2021 was indeed the year of rise of vtuber
I remember even the EN audition announcement seemingly flew under the radar with as few people were talking about it.
Well the first time I heard the EN branch of Hololive I was exkeptical about it and I thought to myself that it's kinda cringe. But after experiencing Gura that all blew out the window.
BGM 💀
Idk about others, but my doubt was never about the talents. My doubt was from the company actually supporting the EN talents the same way they would support their JP talents.
Ooooo
WTF CALLI CAN SPEAK JAPANESE NOW
I mean also Calli and Kiara got the most hate, cause tbh they werent that good starting out compared to the others
Too late to see early jp debut. But just in time for En debut. Thanks miko for that gta n word melody.
Sorry but what does ep means?
Extended play - just mini album.
Calli has a childhood trauma surrounding being lazy. Thus, she is ever the workaholic.
Ngl I doubted too. I mean, we all know about the state of the Western entertainment industry and what is going on with some people, especially in EE.UU. But they all prove me wrong right away. Calli debuting with a record smashing original song and all of that, and was something new and good. And now I obviously love the EN girls. Hololive is the best at scouting, best agency in the world. Maybe not perfect, but definitely the best.
I think the only bad part about HoloEN had nothing to do with them. It was all the consumer tourists finding out about Vtubing. The community died shortly after and became fragmented chunks.
To be fair to Calli, Hololive English absolutely gets the short end of the stick support wise. They target English audiences, but basically all of the merch (and honestly, most of the songs) are Japanese.
Calli on trash taste is what brought me into this rabbit hole, that and a gigguk video
Like most of og holo fan, I was skeptical when they announced HoloEN. I thought its just gonna be a group of generic western streamer being lewd with toilet humor. Glad they proved us all wrong and show that they are just like the JP girls but english spoken.

The air around that time was “What will they bring to the table?”or “If these girls can capitalize on the rising popularity then it’s a massive success”
It also helped at the time EN had people starving to be in Holo
Not as much now but at first that application list must have been insane
I will also say Holo got lucky that 3 of the 5 genuinely went above and beyond to prove that the branch had legs
Cali
Ame
Kiara
Each went above and beyond to make things work
and we still do. it's the luckiest and worst gen in the entire company. if it wasn't for timing and covid they would be less known than holostars.
