Finnish Pancake | Pannukakku

- Pancake, or pannari, is a common dessert in Finland, especially on Thursdays after split pea soup lunch. Here I show how to make traditional Finnish pancake dessert with strawberry jam and a whipped vanilla quark.
Ingredients:
4 eggs
1 liter whole milk
1 dl melted butter
5 1/2 dl AP flour
1 tbls sugar

Fifty-five years ago, my Finnish Grandmother would make this for us in the oven using a cast iron skillet. Once it deflated, she would sprinkle it with sugar. We all loved it!

This is the BEST!! I made my first last year and my family, coworkers and friends can't get enough of it. It's like a pancake, a crepe, flan, creme brulee all rolled into one. It has easily become a favorite.
And it's so easy to make too!
@@finnishyourplate It really is. I was surprised my first attempt turned out so well. The oven does all the work and when presented it just looks like you’ve spent hours whipping up a simple, elegant desert. 🙂
I’m thinking if I make this and add some sultanas it would then become almost a pancake, crepe, flan, Creme brûlée, no bread and butter pudding?!? 😮

This is the good stuff :) Surprisingly THE best pancake is made by the finnish army(on thursdays offcourse).

This baked pannukakku seems like it could be a healthy alternative to frying pancakes..... well except for the cream. 🤣
Oh I got you covered! That's why you extend the cream with the quark (yogurt) so it's not quite as heavy.
