You did a thorough job explaining and showing us how a self-retie is done. What I will say is that if your hair is fine and you want the hair to swell more a three-point rotation is best and two-point rotations isn't recommended for a number of reasons. The reties don't last as long and hair can weaken over time. Also, when locks aren't mature, yet a two-point rotation can cause lock to unravel easily. I think starting off with a two-point rotation was good to get used to doing them yourself.
I find that I'm getting more volume even with a 4 point rotation bc my stylist doesn't comb the new growth nor add products during my retie. The manipulation of my hair activates the production of sebum which is the hair's natural oil.
Wonderful tutorial sis! The 2 point rotation allows you to always end in a downward direction. Don't use too much tension your locs will still look amazing
Awesome video. You did a great job explaining the rotation. Omgeeeeee! I am familiar with the rotation but you showing and explaining it was so clear. I had to subscribe to your channel. Nothing but love ❤️ for your skills and explanation! I just crossed three years and am loving my journey…. Thin fine hair and all!
Let's say meticulous... your hair is absolutely gorgeous. My count is close to yours and you have always been my loc inspiration. 26 months in and I ❤my hair. Not ready for the self retie too afraid however this is a great tutorial. It actually gave me a bit more confidence ❤ Thank you for always being so informative and uber inviting.
Thank you so much for this video the very best I ever seen just started my sisterlock journey and would love to be able to diy so this is a blessing in disguise I've subscribe so I'm on thanks again God's blessings on you 🙏 ❤
I totally love your locs. I do not have sister locks but I do have traditional locks and I love your meticulousness if that’s a word in keeping your parts well groomed it’s amazing. I totally love your videos that you present. Even though I don’t have sisterlocks, I love the idea of the rotation and the interesting way it is done if that makes sense, keep making the videos. Love it.
I’m glad I ran across your page.. I’m very inspired! By you…. I’m approaching my 2yr locaverssary this Dec. and will start doing my retie’s come January 24! Thanks for sharing! ❤
Viewing this is amazing 👏. Your very clear. Give me knowledge and options 😅 for after I'm established ❤❤❤❤ explanation why rotate certain pattern different area of head makes sense with my my sample Loc from. Consults lays certain way to style. 🎉❤❤❤❤❤ yours is clean...blessings
Great video! I’m impressed by the way you first explained the rotation technique for the back and top of your hair. I myself, have microlocs and I’m 14 months in🎉. However, I’m so interested in doing my own retires bc I’m very meticulous about my hair. Even when I was a lose natural and fine hair. Anywho, your locs look great. I hope to get there one day😊 Blessings ✨
Thank you so much! ❤️ I understand I was determined to learn how to do my own as well for the same reasons. You got this just get a set up that allows you to comfortably see you hair and take your time.
Hello. Thanks for the video. I’m working on my setup for self reties. Can you make a short of your mirror/light set up you use to retie. It would be tremendously helpful ❤
Fantastic job! Succinct and to the point. Clear compass (4 point) retie! Have not started my loc journey yet; but, you've got in the right direction. Thank you!! ❤❤
Have started with a braid loc. Watching video again. Neatness is key. Glad added some moisture to get" flyaway hair" to come together. Had to learn to address dandruff. This will be my 1st retie.. fingers cross!! Blessings 2025!!❤❤❤❤
I remember when I interlocked one loc into another one time. I was probably 3 months in so I just combed out the 2 locs and restarted the 😂 Your idea sounds much more reasonable. Thanks for that. I'll start my microlocs journey again after the sides of my hair grow in
Great job! I love your loc’s! I can’t wait to see my progress. I got my microloc braids on 8/2 /23. I have had 2 retires. I am retired from the US Navy so I have the time to do my own retires. This is the 1st video I have seen that has given me the confidence to do. My question is how do I determine what size needle to use. Thank you !
I actually purchased my interlocking tools Set Off of Amazon, which I will make sure it's linked, and it had 4 different sizes and I went with the one whose opening, where you feed the loc through, was closest to my lock size.
You made this look so easy lol Great job. Once I figure out how to braid my locs in the back without feeling like I'm doing acrobatics, I may be brave enough to do a self retie lol.
I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!!! Very helpful… I’m just like you when it comes to being precise about my hair. Yours is very BEAUTIFUL AND NEAT!!! It’s hard taking this journey and being dependent on someone else to do your hair… I know that’s what I’ll struggle with when I get my establishment next month. Hopefully I will be able to do my retie in the future like you! So motivating! God Bless! ❤❤❤💯💯💯🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾😍😍😍
Thank you! It was hard for me too! With the way I am about my hair, I figured it was only a matter of time before I took over! But I went over a year before I started doing them myself.
One more thing CeCe…What products do you use to keep your frizz down?. I believe I heard you say water and essential/carrier oils in a spray bottle…But what about shampoo & conditioner?
You did a great job. I'm struggling to tie my mini twist so I've been doing a lot of retwisting (my twist keeps unraveling). I feel if I get this technique down, I'll be on my way to sister locks. This is a great tutorial for me. Thank you 🙏🏾😊
Hi Cece, I just reach my 2 year anniversarywith sisterlocks ,I'menjoying it mainly becauseI rarelydo anythingwith my hair after I wash , my hair is very fine so it dries very easily.thank you for showing g the rotation
The way you explained this makes me wanna try doing ONE retie just to see if I can. However, I know that I can't because I have arthritis in my hands and shoulders, and there's NO way I could sit for the 6 weeks it would take me to do it.😂 So, my loctician has a client for however long she'll do my hair. Thank you for a wonderful video.
Hi I loved your tutorial. My daughter is in her 2 months sisterlocks journey. I'll be do her re-tighting at times. What do you recommend for re-tighting using just water and sisterlocks moisture spray?
Definitely will use this as my guide to start my own self retie. I hate my parts aren’t clean like this I’ve asked my Loctician to fix it but it seems it’s an issue.
I know I'm responding to this late but I wonder if anyone knows why they don't keep the parts neat because that was one of the reasons why I was so eager to learn how to do my own reties as well. I thought it was just me being anal because I'm a hairstylist but I seem to keep hearing that other people want their parts to be straighter and cleaner and I just want to know if there's a specific reason why they don't focus on that.
I love the way you explained it. This is the first time I probably understood 😂. I still don’t think I’m gonna be able to do mine though.😂 your hair is beautiful 😍
Thank you! 🥰 That is extremely understandable because retieing your own sisterlocks is a serious undertaking and you need a lot of patience and I'll admit I've made several mistakes while I learned to do them.
@@CimplyCeCe I just retied my own also! I learned from TH-cam University too! I've bsonw a great job just like You! ❤❤ I'll be 3 years next June 29th 2024!
Thank you!❤️ I'll be honest I have no idea what it means to "seal the end", so I'm guessing no I don't. 🤷🏿♀️ if you don't mind would you explain it to me?
Very thorough explanation. I anticipate maintaining my hair on my own soon. Kinda scared but I know I can do it . I’m on a 2 point rotation. Im a bit concerned about the talk around the negatives of the 2point rotation. Anticipating my locs will be okay nonetheless , unless I decide to transition over once I begin self maintenance .
Thank you! 🥰 I don't know enough, but I've seen Locs on a 2pt rotation and they look amazing! So I wouldn't worry too much. If you notice anything that concerns you, you can always change rotations!
Sorry I know this is a late response! My starting rotation always depends on the rotation I ended on. So ideally I always start going "West" but that changes dependent on how I end the rotation. So no, I don't always start at the same rotation but I try to. Most of the time I do because most of the time I end on the same rotation. I hope that makes sense. If I start "Weat" I always end "South" so as long as I end "South" I always start "West"
I just retie mine. I dont even care about the grid anymore lol. sometimes i accidently interlock at the root, that's when I snap, crackle and pop them lol.

Thank you and good luck, at the beginning of my journey of self-reties, I did mines too tight, just be careful but you got this!
The end rotation of the neck and shoulders brings back so many memories after a self-retie!

Neither, It's whatever they do to start sisterlocks.

What is the best Loc tool to use for retightening?
I've only used 2 tools my whole journey. I ordered the interlocking tool that I use for most of my head off of Amazon and I ordered a micro tool off of another website, which I'll make sure is Linked in the description. I have no other tools to compare it to so I don't know what's best.

Great video. Thank you. What do you do when you already have frizz all the way down the hair shaft?
I'm actually not sure... I feel like after I colored my hair with permanent color my frizz went down a lot like it matted it a little bit more.
Question, who started your locs?
My Sisterlock consultant's name was Cherie and we live in Kansas City.
BEAUTIFUL LOCKS!!!
Thank you!! 😁
You did an amazing job. New Subbie here.
I like
Great job
How can I get my own tools
I ordered mine off of Amazon. I searched "Interlocking tools".
What pattern do you have?
Thanks so much for all the details you provide. It's very appreciated. Side comment..are you a singer? LOL The raspiness of your voice sounds like you sing your heart out on Sunday mornings. LOL
Where you get the hair clip from
I tried for one locks and it tangled 😢I wish I had long locks , I like that colour 😮😊
Sorry to hear that! 😞
Does the product cause any build-up on your locs?
Not at all
Hi Ce Ce how long did it take you to retie.
Now, about 9hrs!
sometimes you have to pop strands if your roots grow wild
True!
What mirrors are you using?
3WAY MIRROR: HIEEY 3 Way Mirror for Hair... www.amazon.com/dp/B0B9RTKWRP?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I ordered it from Amazon

I promise I'll be doing better from here on out.
Does this hurt when retightening
No, to me the Retightening process doesn't hurt unless retied too tight or you have knots in your Locs.
Gel in Sisterlocks?
Yes, I wear gel in my hair.
