Great for U.S. white beginners but I wish someone would talk about the effect of class, race nationality age and personality on vocal pitch, resonance and onset. Otherwise we will all sound like cute white American girlies...

Why would someone need to affirm a gender? Its actually "try to sound like the opposite sex".

@@1888CHAD8881 they are not totally separate. Gender is originally a grammatical concept. Many languages have more than two genders. Sometimes the genders have nothing to do with sex. (e.g. "animate/inanimate") - it's a linguistic category.
Later used in anthropology to describe behavior, routines, ritual which is *connotative* of biological sex.
