Several years ago I went with Brazilian friends. They talked to the manager and he pointed out how they brought people from Brazil who knew how to make the meals. All the cutlery and items on the table are all imported from Brazil. Basically the only thing not from Brazil in that restaurant, is you :)

She asked for just a small amount and the guy said he could pour a half ounce. After explaining how to experience it, he walked off and mentioned that it was over 100 years old. It was then we started to wonder how much it was going to cost. When we got the bill, $122 for half a shot of that brandy. I'm not mad, but it seems like something they could have mentioned.

Americans complaining about the food, about the price, and saying to go only for the Picanha. The piece of picanha in US costs $60 bucks. You can buy it and cook it in your home. The main mistake that Fogo is committing is trying to please the trash american taste on food. Their menu is almost half americanized and it is going to loose the quality, specially because the rapid expansion of their restaurant chain that require more staff and they are hiring americans to cook the meat like gauchos, and it has been reduced the quality of the Brazilian barbecue. Americans don't give a shit to how it is prepared, they will put some spicy sauce on it anyway. It is hard to please a taste that has been eating mac'n cheese and brown sugar on meat the entire life. Some comments require a well done steak, without salt and juicy meat, so deep your meat in a glass of Coke and move on. If you are not prepared to taste something different, please, don't go or don't come back.

The truth: when you sit down, different waiters repeatedly bring the cheap, uninteresting cuts to fill you up. Then, the prime cuts and interesting flavors come out in small quantities and you're already full from loads of cheap stuff. If you want excellent meat, go to a proper steak house and order the piece of meat you love, cooked the way you love it. FDC is a disappointing and expensive experience and this video is an advertisement, not a review.

I couldn't believe this place. A guy came around and cut of piece of steak off the size and thickness of a quarter. I thought he was having me sample it, but he gave my wife a quarter size piece and left. I turned the card back over and another guy came and did the same thing. Just bite size taste. What the hell is this crap?
I turned my card over again and before I know it, there is like 4 guys cutting off quarter sized pieces. I asked for some filet Mignon but that guy never did come around.
On the trip down there, we were looking over the menu items online. I made the comment that who in there right mind would get sausage when all these steaks are available? Now I see why. It was the only piece of meat that we got all night that was bigger than one bite! After almost an hour of waiting for these bite sized morsels, we finally gave up and asked for the check. I bet we each only got about 3-4oz of steak over the course of an hour.
Up until this time, I was pretty disappointed. That was until I looked at the bill. Now I was freakin' mad. I paid and we left.
I think we ended up stopping at Steak n' Shake on the way home.
This was several years ago, maybe they eventually figured things out. I'll won't risk finding out..

What I learned from the first trip there was to decline most of the meats - they're good, but you want the stuff that's really special. Beef ribs are always a treat, and picanha is defeinitely the thing you want to hunt down. Skip the chicken, skip the sausages etc - those are chip filler. Bacon wrapped filet is also good, but really I pretty much red card anything but the beef ribs and picanha. They're by far the best and what i want to eat the most of.

They first try to load you up with the cheapest types of meat such as low grade steak or chicken hoping you get full and once in a while they throw you a bone and give you a good piece later on like a lamp chops or shrimp. I guarantee you, they will never start you off with her best piece of meat, and for a good reason. They hope you load up on the salad so you have less room for the prime cuts. This is how they make their $.

I've been here many times. It's delicious. It really is. But I wanted a particular cut of meat and asked a manager twice for it and never got it. I watched it get hogged up (between my far away table and the kitchen) three times and NEVER got the Picanha. I loved everything else but I would have liked to have gotten a sample of that. This was in San Antonio Tx.

Cant believe she so off with the words in Portuguese, Google translator has improved so much and its done in Brazilian Portuguese too. So she really doesn't have a good reason for words like feijoada and farofa to be mispronounced like that, Its ok to be slightly off when trying to say a new word in a different language but for a professional TH-cam video isn't a good look. Probably should of been checked by a 5 minute Google search and then cross check with Brazilian or Portuguese native speaker.

Actually, DO forget the salad bar. You're not paying $50+/person to eat leaves. They're relying and hoping that you do as salads tend to fill people up albeit temporarily but enough that you may miss out on the meats you want to try. Plus it's very cheap for the restaurant. You're paying for the meat selection/variety, eat the meat.

They have other things that aren’t leaves there and are very good, like salmon, cheeses and expensive cured meats. It’s worth it.

This place is awesome best place to get steak. A steak house charge you $50 for a 8 oz. For a few $ more you can mix up your meat and enjoy. It’s hard not to get full at the salad bar too many tasty options. Yes it’s expensive but in life aren’t all the good things? Even the dessert is good. So find a happy person and cruise over to a good time. You’ll feel so good you won’t mind being $175 short.

Funny thing is that the same barbecue they serve you in US, is the same i am doing right here at my home, if you ever come to southern Brazil you shouldn't go to this expansive restaurants, and instead go to a house of a brazilian friend, not only he will invite you for barbecue, but you wouldn't pay anything, and eat the same as in this restaurants.
Now be careful, if your friend is very young ask if his dad will do it, odds are this boys wouldn't know how to do it.
