I actually liked the rare occasional ones where the "who" is part of the mystery. Mr. Monk Goes to the Bank, Mr. Monk Joins a Cult, Mr. Monk Goes to the Office, Mr. Monk on Vacation, Mr. Monk Fights City Hall all come to mind.
It is literally in the journals, the ink that was used to write them was mixed with the melted gold, can't believe I just remembered that 10 years after watching that episode
"Funny thing about gold: the metal itself don't change much. Heat it up, melt it down, bury it in the ground, the gold itself never changes. It sure changes people, though." - Joshua Skinner.
5:20 -- I love how Stottlemeyer and Randy just stand there staring at the guy repeatedly and intentionally running into their car. They never go over to see his face closely or get a look at his license plate, ... or tell him to stop! They wait till he drives away. Good cops! (Not.)
@@scienceguy8 That's why cops never interfere with a nighttime bank robbery, right? It's just money. No point in trying to arrest the criminals wielding guns while they're taking the money. Also: It's just a car? How about the fact that they are letting the obviously dangerous driver drive away so multiple members of the public can become the victims of the vehicular homicide?
Terrific! The writers, the director and producer of this show probably think so well during hours the opens because it's so important catch the public attention in the first minutes (or seconds!) so i think this' one of the reasons Monk is one of the best police suspense series ever! I already missing watch it in TV, I hope some day one channel decides to streaming it.
In the “Mr. Monk Goes to the Circus” episode, I think it’s safe to say the murderer was definitely showing off.😉 Also, giving what Dalton did to his partner, probably would have been safer not to have told him.😥
He don't care about getting away with it, he was establishing an alibi. Can't be accused of a worse crime if you're in a hit and run while DUI against a cop car. I don't remember the episode, but according to comments I've seen on other vids, his whole plan backfired because he got in a real car accident, and ended up in a coma.
So many great lines but Discher was given the funniest lines. He had at least 5 great ones in the Snoop Dog "Murderous" ep. Best ever..." He called me White ". " Oprah's giving prizes!
"Most other 49ers died broke or hungry." I don't know, but I'll bet they didn't call themselves 49ers at that time. It seems like the kind of nickname that would come at least a little bit later, with some historical perspective.--similar to how World War I wasn't called that until there was a WWII. So he wouldn't have called his contemporaries "49ers."
Can I just say that these criminals despite being smart, them killing was completely unnecessary? Dexter Larson could have just taken his magazine to another company for distribution to pay off his debts. Even without the mansion he would still have his fame and current wealth, the adult entertainment industry is a thing. Natasia had little motive to kill other than her Seregei was annoying, the fact that she didn't even try to deny it also incriminated her. She wasn't even with him, she could have just ignored him till the day he died, or switched circus troops. Brian Baggage, just keeps his share of the inheritance. Same with Brad Terry. Dalton had the strongest motive but he was pretty obvious about it, it would have been safer to just share the gold profit, or just pretended to be a PI or journalist who wanted to know the mystery rather than marrying Randy's mom.
I always loved this show because it was never really about who did it, but how they did it

that is true
Stottlemeyer: Dwayne, do I look like an idiot to you? Dwayne: Yeah, you sort of do. This one is my favorite.
Classics. The "Gold is in the journals" reference is one of my favorite mysteries because there's a bit of science behind it.

Eh, it's just a car. No point in getting too close and making yourself a target for attempted vehicular homicide.
