What I don't understand is why should someone's heartbeat change for telling a little lie, especially when the liar is a big star and the recipient of that lie is a lowly subordinate? You can't be judged as a sociopath for this non-event.
not to mention those machines aren't known to be accurate, there is a margin of error. but hey, its a TV show, and Monk had to be given a clue somehow to solve the case
