This video made me fall in love with the phone , I was torn away between the G2 and Nexus 5, but now I know its going to be the Nexus 5 . Thank you Aaron once again. U rock.
Aron is the best when it comes to reviewing the cell phone and tablets, looking forward to see the full review of nexus 5. Hopefully you'll talk about how it fits in hand, or if it is easier to work in one hand.
I agree about the battery percentage indicator Aaron, I don't understand why they won't include that. Maybe they don't want to interfere with the third-party app developers who make battery apps.
Great unboxing Aaron! Just got mine up as well. I was fairly close to applying for your intern program as well but figured you had plenty of applications already according to your message. Thank you for your videos and inspiration! ~STR
You are definitely right in that the correct SOC drivers etc need to be included in the kernel build - but it is "Stock Android" in that it comes with a pre-determined by Google set of apps and the default launcher, without any extra carrier bloat added - at least the international versions anyway - I guess you could argue that the carrier branded Nexus 5 does not run "stock android" because it does have some bloatware.
Just a heads up to prospective buyers, the black attracts finger prints on the back VERY easily. It's no joke. Consider the white if you don't want to be constantly wiping the back clean.
Never had issues for where I go.. As a new company starting from the ground up, they don't have towers everywhere yet. I live in Toronto and mostly stay within the GTA and had no real issues. The people who have issues, tend to own CHEAP low cost phones. When they don't have their own towers, they ride ROGERS for Roaming, at very low costs. My bill is 1/2 what it was with Telus. Its worth trying, as they don't have contracts. If you don't like it, you can leave, with no fee.
That's great, but to other people the recent apps button is a lot more useful than the settings button. Like for instance, do you really go to settings a lot more often than switch applications? To me I much prefer having that button there easy to access at all times.
Hi Aaron. I am an S4 user, but I sold off my S4 and now am looking to buy either the G2 or Nexus 5. Which one do you think is better overall (without price considerations) and worth buying.
Android 4.4 seems to not have changed much. It's funny how everyone talks about iOS but quickly forget that Stock Android looks and feels the same since the Nexus One. Minor upgrades here and there, but not much different.
You're kidding me right? You honestly think there hasn't been any changes from 2.0 to 4.4? I have no idea what OS you're looking at to come to that conclusion but it certainly wasn't android. Yes. 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to 4.4 KitKat hasn't changed a LOT because Google is finally happy with the design. Not to mention, all of those are 0.x changes, so there's not going to be a whole lot of change. Complaining about this is like complaining that iOS 5.0 and 5.1 didn't change enough. As for people complaining about Apple's lack of change. This is because Apple kept not including features that would make the OS useful. Android managed to make their OS more useful from 1.5 than Apple can even do today with 7.0. iOS 7 is just now catching up in terms of being useful and convenient to use.(Graphics and awful UI nonwithstanding.) As for complaining that Apple hasn't completely redone the UI from iOS 1.1.1 to 6.1.3, this is for the same reason Android hasn't changed much from 4.0 to 4.4, they're happy with their design concepts. There's no need to change for the sake of change when something works. In fact, that reason is why even though I'm an Android fan, I actually really liked iOS from 1 to 6. 7 was the first iOS I hated an that was because they made changes just for the sake of change and ruined the user interface. Nobody asked for it and everyone was happy with iOS design the way it was. Yes it is good that they added features everyone WAS asking for, but there was no need to ruin the UI in the process.
The qualifications say that writing work and experience is required? I have a knowledge of writing but no online publishing. The majority of my work is video. Thoughts?
Those saying the startup is slow need to research. Its a one time requirement at boot up. It will never happen again. He should have tested boot up after set up.
Hi there, I was about to question you about unlocked phones. CAN unlocked phones call or text straight out of the box and have a 4G lte connection?????
I'm really considering to witch to nexus 5, but I have the iPhone 4S. All I want is a small comfortable phone. With good battery life. Let me know what you guys think about the switch
Instagram is not preloaded it. Just downloaded when you were talking. How do I know ???????? When you first opened the apps Instagram was not there later it was there
@phonedog I thought this phone wasn't for Verizon but when you showed a app it had my Verizon on there. Is that just a random thing or could you actually use the phone for Verizon
Each app is prob 11-15mb and songs are about 1-5mbs, now, to give you some background, 1024mb is 1gb; this phone has 16gb's. It can hold a lot more apps and music then that lol.
I'm an Android fan and have owned pretty much every high end Android device. Samsung does Android the best, especially the Note 3. Everything about it is top notch, spec wise. It's unbeatable in my opinion and from my experience. I love neXus devices as well as hTC devices.
I want this phone so much!! But i can't decide which i should take.. Black white or black??!! I think that both of them are very nice and so on... So please can you guys help me decide which one?! And sorry for my english haha....
I agree with the experts review.. there is no reason for htc1 to be in 1st place. i'm surprised its in the top 5 considering it has a weak camera and and battery.
Keep costs down? Have you used the nexus 5? Doubt it! So how would you know it's not enough? Nobody really knows yet if the battery is big enough with this new software so it's too early to say things like that.
is there any option of changing the arrangment of touch buttons becuase i am used to having back button on the right side and is there any option of removing recent apps button with settings one?...
Miss you Aaron! You had the best reviews and unboxing videos hands down!
This video made me fall in love with the phone , I was torn away between the G2 and Nexus 5, but now I know its going to be the Nexus 5 . Thank you Aaron once again. U rock.
I miss Aaron :(
Why where's he gone

simplicity icon pack by vogel icons is going to look so good on it when i get mine.

I like Aron Baker, he goes on and on, never lost in words.
Dear PhoneDog, you now have my full attention! Nexus 5 is SO F AWESOME! I'M SO HAPPY YOU UPLOADED AN UNBOXING.
That start up takes for ever. I already turned my iphone 5 off and back on and the nexus 5 is still going
Note that while Aaron doing the demo, there are apps updating at the back and the phone shows no sign of lag. Awesome....
I can't wait to get the nexus 5 on august first. It looks like a great phone
I agree about the battery percentage indicator Aaron, I don't understand why they won't include that. Maybe they don't want to interfere with the third-party app developers who make battery apps.
I'm definitely upgrading to the Nexus 5 from the Nexus 3 I still have, come December!
Great unboxing Aaron! Just got mine up as well. I was fairly close to applying for your intern program as well but figured you had plenty of applications already according to your message. Thank you for your videos and inspiration!

I actually do. The settings button is used as the menu button in a lot of apps
That's the initial start up and update process, not the normal time it takes to simply start up or restart the phone afterward.

Always love your videos Aaron! Always look forward to seeing these new phones!
Nexus 5 or iPhone 5S?
Would you recommend the htc one, iPhone 5s or the nexus 5?
You always make good videos. I always enjoy them and find them very informative! :)

My Nexus 4 got stolen. Probably a sign for me to get the Nexus 5. I'm now officially saving up for one.
whats the final cost for this including shipping and handling? An Estimation.
teach me, typing master.
I CANT TEACH YOU PANDA JAJAJAJAJA
You can turn on the percentage through accessibility, I believe.

"It looks like its powering already. Nah, just messing with you." Haha, i love the way he do reviews/unboxing.
How is the touch sensitivity? Better than Nexus 4 I hope.
Finally ! Mine is coming on Thursday !
I agree. And good to hear I'm not the only one.
Hi Aaron can you tell me how you get all these great phones. Do you get it for free or you have to pay for them
I thought it was going to be DOA there for a bit! My Nexus 4 is pretty quick to boot at the moment - I hope it doesn't go south when 4.4 lands on it!
Hows the camera and battery life???
Wednesday is too long to wait for this phone. It feels like forever when you add in how long it took for them to release it.
The colors on the front of the box make a number 5!!
Thinking of buying a new phone to replace my Note 2, this or the HTC One?
The qualifications say that writing work and experience is required? I have a knowledge of writing but no online publishing. The majority of my work is video. Thoughts?
I hope that super long load is just a first time you startup the phone thing because that took forever.
Those saying the startup is slow need to research. Its a one time requirement at boot up. It will never happen again. He should have tested boot up after set up.
Hi there, I was about to question you about unlocked phones. CAN unlocked phones call or text straight out of the box and have a 4G lte connection?????
Can we get a DogFight between this and the LG G2? especially for us Sprint folks
No 64 GB or at least expandable memory?
What were they thinking...

Should I upgrade from my droid DNA to the nexus 5?
The battery % is listed under Settings: Display: More Settings: Display Battery Percentage.... its not in the Battery folder.
Keep up the good work Aaron.
Was this Aaron's last video with phonedog ?
take the white one because you can enjoy both the back is white and front is black
That's some fast fingerwork with typing there.
why nexus 5 takes a long time to boot ???????? anyways nice video
Would the 16 GB version be able to hold 11 apps to download. 200 songs and one game app?
Each app is prob 11-15mb and songs are about 1-5mbs, now, to give you some background, 1024mb is 1gb; this phone has 16gb's. It can hold a lot more apps and music then that lol.
When will it be available on att with 2yr contract,?
I'm an Android fan and have owned pretty much every high end Android device. Samsung does Android the best, especially the Note 3. Everything about it is top notch, spec wise. It's unbeatable in my opinion and from my experience. I love neXus devices as well as hTC devices.

Does this have a notification/led light?
I agree with the experts review.. there is no reason for htc1 to be in 1st place. i'm surprised its in the top 5 considering it has a weak camera and and battery.

Great phone!
Thanks for the review :-)
Keep costs down? Have you used the nexus 5? Doubt it! So how would you know it's not enough? Nobody really knows yet if the battery is big enough with this new software so it's too early to say things like that.
is there any option of changing the arrangment of touch buttons becuase i am used to having back button on the right side and is there any option of removing recent apps button with settings one?...
He could just download a widget that has the battery percentage, but it is odd for the nexus not to have that.
To me the recent apps button is a waste. I like having the settings button and I'm used to holding down the home button for recent apps anyway.
Was it just me or did you guys try saying lg ac adapter 3x fast?
@sadiq the battery is very very very small so we all know what the results will be
I want this for Christmas. ANY MILLIONAIRE OUT THERE?
Will this phone work on Verizon?
Amazing...Why Aaron had to go??? :(

Can't wait for the cyanogenmod release of this!
