And yes, Daggerfall is peak, procedurally generated worlds have their problems with repetitive locations if you aren't into making your own story, but the sense of freedom and scope with the mechanics is unmatched.

Modded Morrowind is the shit and I was 4 when it came out. Can't wait to try Daggerfall Unity. Also reccomend tomb of the snow prince. Instead of a bland flat area, Solstheim actually looks like the rest of the game.

I'm sorry, but the sheer replayability of Skyrim makes it S tier for me. I've put more hours into Skyrim than I have any other game, and I'm still constantly finding out noticing things I hadn't before. The main story isn't amazing, but the sheer size of the game, it's DLCs and side quests makes it S, however in willing to go down to A because of the lackluster faction quests and glitches.
I genuinely believe some of the glitches make the game better. For instance as a vampire lord you can glitch the human telekinesis spell into your left hand as a human.

Morrowind had the best story of the franchise hands down. its combat however is absolute garbage. The navigation system will turn off modern gamers but the lack of handholding actually lets you immerse yourself in the world. Im happy with A or B tiers.
I am on my twenties and I played morrowind a few years ago. Best western rpg I've ever played. The world and inmersion are amazing and thr story is absolute bonquers. Its true I needed a few mods to really enjoy it (like a walk faster mod) but apart from that is a beautiful game

Because it shouldn't take me too long and no one asked: Here is my own list. S: Morrowind A: Skyrim (even with mods. This is pure nostalgia goggles for me as it was the first TES game i sunk my teeth into. I know it is a shallow and dull experience but I love it anyways) B: Daggerfall (the unity version is great and the modding scene is fantastic and would bump this up to S), Oblivion (only the Shivering Isle dlc and Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild storylines save this from a C rank for me) C: D: ESO (it breaks canon at several points and I just don't like mmos) F: Arena (but only because I haven't played it and I haven't heard good things about it. Though I respect it for being the first in the series)
Morrowind: S-Tier, while outdated and while many things didn't function as they should, it had so many gameplay options. For its time, it was quite advanced for a 3D RPG. This is the game that makes you realize how spoiled we are for our simplified modern game mechanics, while good understanding of an outdated system can still be an experience in an of itself. Skryim: A-Tier, because you just cannot get around it being grossly simplified (although done really well) compared to Oblivion and Morrowind. That said, it's only fair the game got a major rework to improve on combat, especially between Melee and Magicka builds... although we all know that Stealth Archer is the only realy way to play. I also subtract some points as in my opinion the main story leaves out some major possibilities (such as siding with Paathurnax, where the only option is to just ignore the Blades completely... which makes no sense, as you). Other questlines are also surprisingly short. On the flip side, both Dawnguard and Dragonborn are excellent DLCs. Oblivion: B-Tier. Don't get me wrong, this game did a lot of things such as push the envelope on face generation, ingame physics and it had a very well constructed story and an extremely well themed UI and soundtrack. That said, it is also remembered for it's horrible face quality, repetitive Oblivion portals, removing skills from Morrowind, a horrible Speech system, overhyping the AI schedules and dumbing down the game prior to launch and being one of the defining origins of the concept of modern DLC. In addition, Oblivion just hasn't aged well in the slightest. I hold the memories dear and at the time this was an excellent game for which it deserves credit, but with years of hindsight comes the wisdom of seeing the many flaws in the game as well. It's not a game you will keep coming back to, or want to keep coming back to. Daggerfall and Arena I... just can't rate as I feel it would never do the game justice. I've never really played them, I only watched people play them. There is no doubt in my mind they did not age too well, but will arguably still deliver a hardcore RPG experience for those that seek it. ESO is "Should-Not--Be-On-This-List"-Tier. It's not part of the main ES games. Or if we include ESO then we might as well include Battlespire, Redguard, Blades and Legends. That said, ESO is not a good game, at all, to begin with. It doesn't even cater to ES fans, just... RPG MMO players who have heard of ES and can be lured in for the overdosis on ingamecurrency items and pay2win content. ESO should have just been titled FOMO. It's utter trash.
Eso is great the only mmorpg that I ever put time in. The world looks amazing its fun to run around with friends (if you have them) its a cool experience seeing parts of tamriel never seen before. Class system is cool and the combat is better then in any other elder scrolls game.Solid B tier is acceptable. Still I hope elder scrolls six will be more of a complex rpg like morrowind was with a customizable magic system like oblivion had and not oriented after esos combat. Hope they will put more of the clearly dnd inspired rpg elements back. With the classes race and anything. Lol, ESO honestly deserves D tier for the way it handles its payment model. Shouldn't have to shell out nearly 2 games worth of money just so I can play the game, and then buy the rest of it. Should have just had a normal subscription service. Arena being C tier seems fair. The idea of being able to explore all of tamriel is cool, but there are way too many drawbacks for it to be any fun.

Skyrim is definitely overrated. It's definitely a good game. Solid 7 out of 10. It's still a downgrade from Oblivion and Morrowind. There's just such a lack of depth with every aspect of Skyrim. The storylines suck. The forced roleplaying sucks. Music is top tier like all of Jeremy Soule's OSTs. The 200 year time skip and retconning of Skyrim's history was especially dissapointing.
I skipped Daggerfall, it was diarrhea on the screen. Oblivion was probably the most enjoyable game, as it was like Morrowind where you could easily put things on shelves.
Oblivion is a far bigger game than Skyrim, from the perspective of pure mathematics. It has more gameplay mechanics, way better questlines, and vastly superior RPG elements, than Skyrim. Not to mention a far better setting. Skyrim does not belong in the same Rank as Oblivion. It belongs much lower. B at best.
Morrowind has bad game design, is too slow both in leveling and literally because of how slow walking is, has like what five memorable characters (two of which are LOL DRUGS and the other is Dagoth), has redundant blade skills rather than a better grouping of weapons (having more skills does not make a game better), and the majority of jerking off for the game comes from 4chan posts and "video essays" (posing)
Leveling: Use trainers or know how to properly level your skill Speed: Use the Steed star sign, spells, or simply level up your speed Characters: You can say that about Oblivion and Skyrim as well. People remember Delphine because she forces you to kill Parthanax, Parthanax, Alduin, Tulius, Ulfric, and the Jarl of Whiterun. Oblivion it was the Emperor, Martin, Jeoffery, and Lucien. Mind you I also recently watched TH-cam videos about Oblivion and Skyrim lore, so I can only imagine asking someone to list 5 memorable characters of a game they haven't played in over a decade. Blade Skills: There's only 2...? Short and Long blade so idk what you're talking about unless you're referring to Axe, Blunt, and Spears. People love Morrowind because as Oblivion/Skyrim was probably your first introduction to the Elder Scrolls, Morrowind was an introduction to TES for others. There's definitely things Morrowind did better than Oblviion and Skyrim just like how Oblivion did things better than Morrowind and Skyrim did better than Oblivion
@Wire Doge Leveling should not be a pay 2 win feature of the game and the rate at which level yourself and skills is ass, it's far too slow and because you have to choose major skills they're already high which makes leveling yourself more difficult than it should be. I've heard the quantum physics argument about Oblivion leveling before and it's awful, this is not defensible I should not be walking at 2 miles an hour because I didn't dump points into an arbitrary stat. I've heard anything from "bro just level it" (waste of points and a stat) to "it makes the game feel bigger" (yeah I can slow motion a game too). My enjoyment of a game should not be stunted by them making Speed the awful mistake that it is. You might as well make it a stat tax if I'm gonna be forced to level it, it's ridiculous I remember Delphine because she's with you for most of the main quest, is one of the last Blades, reforms the Blades, is involved in the Civil War debate at High Hrothgar, and you meet her at the beginning of the game and it turns out she's involved with a lot Ulfric, Tullius, Skald, Baalgruf, Karliah, Mercer, Rune, all Dark Brotherhood members, Delvin, J'Zargo, Ancano, Ralof, the Greybeards, Serana, Harkon, the Dawnguard members, Miraak, Paarthurnax. Hell the DLC ones I only thought of at the end of my typing this section because the base game already had so many, while Morrowind has a few good ones in it's DLC like Tharsten, King Helseth, Almalexia (again, a god, so reinforced by the religion in the game) They are fleshed out to varying degrees, some like Ulfric and some have just a few lines but those are unique lines not just keywords about their class (which has nothing to do with their character in Morrowind) or a fetch quest. The majority of people in Morrowind are just quest pushers with nothing else to them and are disposable. The three most people remember are gods, Caius because dude weed lmao and Crassius because he wrote p*rn, I can't even name another unless it was maybe Divath Fyr. The lore carries the game hard, the characters you talk to do not unless they're a god Melee being split into five different categories is too much when the difference between them is too little beyond some artifacts. I hear all the time how the other games "cut too many skills", but the reality is that those melee skills have no differences to justify separating them beyond roleplay which isn't that strong when the only things that separate them are numbers and which artifacts have what Ofc everyone remembers their first one more, it's the rhetoric about Morrowind that separates it. It's usually some memory lane bullshit, memes about how the game isn't balanced (this becomes it's own issue as some people think glitches should define rhetoric), or some posing about how it's just so much better than the other games because (insert how THIS is real roleplay while other thing isn't). It's becoming a race to the bottom too with people pretending that the first two games are god-tier games that ah gee they just don't make em like they used to
I got into the elder scrolls pretty late, Skyrim was the first one I played. I thought and still think it’s incredible. Then I play oblivion and I enjoyed it, but was obviously less impressed because I was used to Skyrim. Then I played Morrowind and I’ve played that trash game maybe an hour total before uninstalling it.
morrowind was just impressive at the time for a lot of reasons but that shit was mid af. So clunky I had to stop playing, skyrim had some of the same problems but superior to all ES games

Eso is great the only mmorpg that I ever put time in. The world looks amazing its fun to run around with friends (if you have them) its a cool experience seeing parts of tamriel never seen before. Class system is cool and the combat is better then in any other elder scrolls game.Solid B tier is acceptable. Still I hope elder scrolls six will be more of a complex rpg like morrowind was with a customizable magic system like oblivion had and not oriented after esos combat. Hope they will put more of the clearly dnd inspired rpg elements back. With the classes race and anything. But I dont have much hope because that would mean youd have to make a complex game casuals maybe wont understand and seeing skyrim and fallout 4 the trend is to dumb down for the masses.

Lol, ESO honestly deserves D tier for the way it handles its payment model. Shouldn't have to shell out nearly 2 games worth of money just so I can play the game, and then buy the rest of it. Should have just had a normal subscription service. Arena being C tier seems fair. The idea of being able to explore all of tamriel is cool, but there are way too many drawbacks for it to be any fun.

I agree with Trump on Morrowind being a better game than Oblivion. I love Oblivion but it's combat sucks. Like, really badly. Morrowind actually makes you feel powerful when you kill things.
Anyone putting Morrowind above Skyrim and Oblivion is an absolute degener te. That game has the worst gameplay I have ever expirienced in my life.

Honestly Skyrim is kinda crap. It was the open world game of my generation and we all loved it sure. But the writing and combat was crap so why did we love it? Because it was the first of it's kind?

I might be in the minority here, but Oblivion had a much better storyline than Skyrim. Mirrowin is a close second, but it's just a slog to go through. Daggerfall in Arena are kind of in a class of their own. Heaven played e s o since launch, so I can't comment on i'm fine how good it currently is.
Oblivion and daggerfall are easy S tier. Morrowind is b and Skyrim is like a very high c or a low b.
The big three all go in S tier, the rest have their place.

Skyrim is definitely overrated. It's definitely a good game. Solid 7 out of 10. It's still a downgrade from Oblivion and Morrowind. There's just such a lack of depth with every aspect of Skyrim. The storylines suck. The forced roleplaying sucks. Music is top tier like all of Jeremy Soule's OSTs. The 200 year time skip and retconning of Skyrim's history was especially dissapointing.

Oblivion is a far bigger game than Skyrim, from the perspective of pure mathematics. It has more gameplay mechanics, way better questlines, and vastly superior RPG elements, than Skyrim.
Not to mention a far better setting.

Morrowind has bad game design, is too slow both in leveling and literally because of how slow walking is, has like what five memorable characters (two of which are LOL DRUGS and the other is Dagoth), has redundant blade skills rather than a better grouping of weapons (having more skills does not make a game better), and the majority of jerking off for the game comes from 4chan posts and "video essays" (posing)
I literally can't get into Morrowind. It's combat is just too janky.
Leveling: Use trainers or know how to properly level your skill
Speed: Use the Steed star sign, spells, or simply level up your speed
Characters: You can say that about Oblivion and Skyrim as well. People remember Delphine because she forces you to kill Parthanax, Parthanax, Alduin, Tulius, Ulfric, and the Jarl of Whiterun.
Oblivion it was the Emperor, Martin, Jeoffery, and Lucien.
Mind you I also recently watched TH-cam videos about Oblivion and Skyrim lore, so I can only imagine asking someone to list 5 memorable characters of a game they haven't played in over a decade.

People love Morrowind because as Oblivion/Skyrim was probably your first introduction to the Elder Scrolls, Morrowind was an introduction to TES for others. There's definitely things Morrowind did better than Oblviion and Skyrim just like how Oblivion did things better than Morrowind and Skyrim did better than Oblivion
@Wire Doge Leveling should not be a pay 2 win feature of the game and the rate at which level yourself and skills is ass, it's far too slow and because you have to choose major skills they're already high which makes leveling yourself more difficult than it should be. I've heard the quantum physics argument about Oblivion leveling before and it's awful, this is not defensible
I should not be walking at 2 miles an hour because I didn't dump points into an arbitrary stat. I've heard anything from "bro just level it" (waste of points and a stat) to "it makes the game feel bigger" (yeah I can slow motion a game too). My enjoyment of a game should not be stunted by them making Speed the awful mistake that it is. You might as well make it a stat tax if I'm gonna be forced to level it, it's ridiculous
I remember Delphine because she's with you for most of the main quest, is one of the last Blades, reforms the Blades, is involved in the Civil War debate at High Hrothgar, and you meet her at the beginning of the game and it turns out she's involved with a lot
Ulfric, Tullius, Skald, Baalgruf, Karliah, Mercer, Rune, all Dark Brotherhood members, Delvin, J'Zargo, Ancano, Ralof, the Greybeards, Serana, Harkon, the Dawnguard members, Miraak, Paarthurnax. Hell the DLC ones I only thought of at the end of my typing this section because the base game already had so many, while Morrowind has a few good ones in it's DLC like Tharsten, King Helseth, Almalexia (again, a god, so reinforced by the religion in the game)
They are fleshed out to varying degrees, some like Ulfric and some have just a few lines but those are unique lines not just keywords about their class (which has nothing to do with their character in Morrowind) or a fetch quest. The majority of people in Morrowind are just quest pushers with nothing else to them and are disposable. The three most people remember are gods, Caius because dude weed lmao and Crassius because he wrote p*rn, I can't even name another unless it was maybe Divath Fyr. The lore carries the game hard, the characters you talk to do not unless they're a god
Melee being split into five different categories is too much when the difference between them is too little beyond some artifacts. I hear all the time how the other games "cut too many skills", but the reality is that those melee skills have no differences to justify separating them beyond roleplay which isn't that strong when the only things that separate them are numbers and which artifacts have what
Ofc everyone remembers their first one more, it's the rhetoric about Morrowind that separates it. It's usually some memory lane bullshit, memes about how the game isn't balanced (this becomes it's own issue as some people think glitches should define rhetoric), or some posing about how it's just so much better than the other games because (insert how THIS is real roleplay while other thing isn't). It's becoming a race to the bottom too with people pretending that the first two games are god-tier games that ah gee they just don't make em like they used to
I got into the elder scrolls pretty late, Skyrim was the first one I played. I thought and still think it’s incredible. Then I play oblivion and I enjoyed it, but was obviously less impressed because I was used to Skyrim. Then I played Morrowind and I’ve played that trash game maybe an hour total before uninstalling it.
morrowind was just impressive at the time for a lot of reasons but that shit was mid af. So clunky I had to stop playing, skyrim had some of the same problems but superior to all ES games
