Very nice film.👍👍🤗. I remember Echo Bay as being beautiful. We'd stay at a motel in Overton. Valley of Fire was really gorgeous. Thank you Russ. Be safe.
Hope you are staying cool out there. Boulder Harbor used to be awesome. I used to go there all the time. Does your GPS show you underwater when you drive out there? Ours did. Unbelievable. Thanks for all you do.
Hello Russ. I traveled the road from Lake Mead to Valley of Fire State Park in 2019. It goes around Las Vegas and connects with Interstate-15 just before Mesquite. Valley of Fire has many beautiful "Rock Formations" looking like animals or funny topics and the Park has a large campground. You will drive for about 40 miles in the Gorges of the Virgin River in Arizona then get to Saint George, Utah. There is a nice campground at Exit-18 in Arizona along I-15. Did you know people in Saint George are the "brightest" people in America ? They live just east of Area 51 and were hit with radiations for a number of years during the A-bomb tests. Now they "glow in the dark" ... (A joke someone in Las Vegas told me). The Beehive State is full of interesting National Parks (Zion, Bryce Canyon, Arches and many more). Happy Trails, my friend. RICHARD
I like the sites you pick and your photography. More importantly, I enjoy your lighthearted, easygoing, and witty commentary. Thanks. Stay safe on the roads.
There's so many videos showing these areas, but when filming on the road I rarely see any other vehicles. Like you're the only one left on the planet. That must be an eerie feeling.
Good Day Russ, Another wonderful video. I enjoyed it very much despite the fact it is so heart breaking to see such a beautiful lake disappear before our eyes. Yes, we are watching history. Thank-you for the tour.
Thank you Russ for this unusual tour. It is sure full of surprises. I marvel at what is happening. I can't help but wonder if we are not near the end of the end times, but that is just me. Just finished hearing about our calendar & how out of sync it is with all it many changes. Time will tell. I figure if we make it through September with climate change we will be here for many more years. If not, I have these memories. Thanks again. Let's keep on truckin'.
Hello Russ, That boat will buff right out! I bet you got a good deal! Lol! Sure will look good behind "The Beast". Russ, thanks for taking us here and showing what is happening right before our eyes. History in the making sad but true. Can't believe the houses are still being built there. Who would buy a house with no water in the lake. Unbelievable.
I believe that other lake was Lake Las Vegas, which has Hilton and Westin hotels on the lake, plus condos and houses, and golf. Really struggled after 2008 financial crisis, but I hear is finally taking off now.
Look at it from the bright side. At least we don’t have to worry about Hoover Dam giving way because of too much water pressure. The dam isn’t going to break. The sun may crack it.
I was contemplating that last night... I'm thinking if the water comes back, it might be more of a problem for the dam than had the water remained... stresses and such, let alone changes in the concrete due to exposure. I wonder...
@@monkeybarmonkeyman With the demand for cheap energy taking priority the problem will get worse. We’re headed for a recession which will is slowing demand for oil and gas but will ramp up for the fall and winter.
It's impossible for the Hoover Dam to fail. It's almost 500 feet thick at it's thickest point. As a matter of fact, some of the interior concrete is still curing, decades after it was poured.
🙋Hello Russ️! That was nice to see the little creek still running. It would take quite a few more creeks to make a significant dent in the Lake. Loved the aerial view.
If or when the lake gets lower should the Fish and Game catch or( Corral?)the fish and release them Into a different lake according to the environment they live in? The thought of the lake getting lower, the water temperature will rise and fish will start dying by the thousands. Any thoughts?
Thanks. Glad I found your channel as I love the desert...and your channel gives me that. You definitely show up close the significance of the drought. Here's another gallon of gas.
Lake Mead is beautiful like the moon is beautiful with all of its sweet nothingness, no trees, tiny sharp plants, burning sun, and bright white sand that burns the corneas. Just great! And it's the nations only lake where anywhere you take a picture it looks the same!! And you get to pay for this treasure each time you visit!!!
Thanks for sharing Russ. We are seeing this happen in a lifetime. Makes you understand how or why the Cliff Dwelling tribes and others abandoned their way of life. Mother Nature will always win.
Really enjoyed this video, the Las Vegas folks hopefully we'll try to save a little water cuz it is a serious situation enjoy the video keep up the good work 🙂
WOW! Thank You for showing us Lake Mead. I was born in Henderson and the change is unbelievable. I was wondering if, while you were in Overton, did you get a chance to visit the museum and underground Native American Dwellings? My Family loves to hunt for artifacts and in Overton, by the horse corrals is where I found our families first arrowhead. There's a lot of cool stuff around there.
It's interesting to note that the Las Vegas Valley Water District returns 90 million gallons of "reclaimed" wastewater into the Las Vegas Wash every day - which then goes back into Lake Mead. Not sure I'd want to fill my RV fresh water tank there, but from what I've read, it's relatively clean - all things considered. It also makes Las Vegas officially the lowest net user of water from the Colorado River per capita.
BTW……ya better stop relying on the info you are receiving…….. If ya aren’t blind, then you are willingly ignoring this CATASTROPHE that is GOING TO HAPPEN! And that is what I consider dum!!! Toots…..
@@thebluetarp 100%.....the fact that it lasted THIS long is just mind boggling to me. That and the fact that most people are just flabbergasted that an artificial lake in the middle of a DESERT is drying up.

They say history repeats itself. The water will return but not in our lifetime. A positive will be that the docks and ramps are already in place. 👍👍🏍🏍🏍🙋♂️
We're drying out here in SW Oklahoma. Hasn't rained in over 2 months, cattle ranchers and farmers emptying water sources in order to feed and water. Lawns brown, structural damage to buildings due to dry soil, fires.
Enjoy the video’s. I was just thinking you should just get a small off road motorcycle to ride down to the water. Nice in light easy to get out if you get stuck.
I wish the Park Service would really clean up all this trash. Have HeavyD trash the boats and get a group of volunteers to pick up the small garbage. Then have the marinas pull all there abandoned docks, tires, and cement blocking and pile it up.
Well, the story is much more complicated than just the water level that you see. Levels are falling below the intake tower ports. The lake flow is falling even though it is not dead pool. The latest report says that the water is becoming alkaline. Only 5 of the seventeen generators are working.
This is so sad. I hear the Colorado River in Mexico is just a trickle. It has been for some time, even when Lake Mead was full. We have destroyed an entire ecosystem down there. This river was never intended to serve so many people.
I agree to this thought! What is really questionable is why contactors are still building houses/condos out in these dry areas where the water is so low 🤔
I see many TH-camrs reporting on lake Mead. Nobody is talking about cleanup. Are there any plans to take this opportunity to remove this pollution from your water supply?
In Oklahoma at the launch someone forgot to strap the pontoon boat down they pulled up the ramp and the boat slid off the trailer onto the ramp. Like 25 people had to help slide it back on there they were so embarrassed and they came up a foot short as outboards aren't cheap. Like 2 months ago I was fishing a berm and heard a big thud in the road and someone with a Bass Boat lost a motor in the middle of the road it was getting dark and I heard another big boom and a car hit the motor as I walked out of the woods that foot was ruined. They are supposed to have a bracket to hold that foot so it doesn't bounce off. This was all at Copan Lake Oklahoma.
I highly doubt they recouped the money spent chasing the waterline. Just taxpayers money wasted on a dying lake. People feel sorry for the boaters and fishermen and businesses, but they they should be grateful they had the use of the borrowed land for so long. Mother nature is taking it back. I hope those people aren't buying that based on the lake view. That's going to be gone before they finish construction. It's amazing, I live in Tucson and there is nary a peep about this on the news. It's not just the water. The turbines are almost useless.
