Tantrums Are NOT OK.

  • Toddler tantrums are one of the things that most inhibit parents from being able to be the most effective parents they can be. This behavior not only causes stress to the parents, but it also is very distressing to the child! Many people say tantrums are “normal”. But, tantrums are not “normal” and should not be accepted or tolerated.
    Teaching and training a child to get control of their own emotions and behavior is something that can help them throughout their life! If you start teaching them early, having self-control and being aware of how to deal with anger and frustration becomes a natural part of their behavior rather than them throwing a fit whenever they don’t get their way.
    The Mommy Answer Lady explains in this short video that “normal” is used to excuse behavior that really should be addressed.

    Exactly. The baby is having an emotionally overwhelming experience so they do this when they loose grip. We need to help them to feel a sense of stability.

      A sense of stability includes teaching them how to behave. When they only know to lose control, that is what they do. That's part of being a good parent.

    Thank you so much for everything you do on this channel. Great information, I totally agree that teaching and training in self control is what our children need, and not leave them to scream it out, though consistency is the key in achieving results.

    I just got in a debate about this with a friend who has a child. She was saying that CTM is punishment not discipline. She was saying children don’t know how to control their emotions so you have to just let them know you hear them…. I totally disagree with her. I have a 3 month old, and when she is old enough to start throwing tantrums I am going to do the CTM method.

      She doesn’t understand the CTM method if she thinks it’s a punishment. What punishment do you know about where the child is in complete control of when it ends? I don’t know of any.
      This argument is always made by someone who either didn’t listen to the entire method or doesn’t understand human nature.
      I’m glad you do! Thank you for your comment. 😊💕

    Great video! I wish I knew this when my babies were little. Perhaps when the grandbabies (eventually) arrive!

    Can I request a video about screen time rules e.g. In your home. Some say an hour a day, some say 30 min., some say once a week. What is your stance on it?

    • @MommyAnswerLady
      @MommyAnswerLady  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can certainly do that. There are different circumstances for different people. For example-some screen time could be learning with a typing program. That would not be free time on screen and I think it shouldn’t be included in the limit for the day.
      I think 30 minutes per day for an elementary age child at least 7 years old is plenty. They need to be outside or working on other hands on projects the rest of their day.
      That 30 minutes would be for playing a game. TV or movie could be once a week EXCEPT for schooling. A fun movie for example.
      Schooling would be Such as watching “How It’s Made” or “This Day in History” or something like that. This could be put into the schooling day, so I wouldn’t worry about limiting it as much as long as it’s part of your learning process plan.
      That is a good suggestion for a video. I’ll write that down and try to make it happen soon! I appreciate the suggestion l😃

    In my last comment I had said I would love to meet you. Do you travel & host seminars? If you don’t mind me asking what state do live in? Are you on instagram?

    • @MommyAnswerLady
      @MommyAnswerLady  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m not on instagram although I know I should be. There’s just so much to keep up with!
      I have not done seminars but if I get enough of a following I’d love to. I did an online course at one point.
      Right now I’m not sure if I’d have enough people on one area to do a seminar. My following is pretty spread out. Maybe in future. I’m in Missouri 😊
      For now, visit my website and order the book. Hopefully that will help!
