    I want to give anyone trying to find these bottles an update on my weekend trip to Canada. I crossed the Detroit / Windsor border by car. It was quick and brought 5 bottles total plus a case of Lowenbrau, since I can't get it easily in the US. I went into a liquor store called LCBO. They carry Havana Club añejo 7 but it's 70cl or 0.7 of a Liter. I found the white rum añejo 3 años for mojitos in 100Cl size. I noticed that these bottles can range in size. For example in Panama, I can get 7 years dark rum in 1 liter bottles. I just noticed the size difference yesterday when I brought the Canadian-size bottle and placed it next to my Panama duty-free bottle. The white rum can also be in 70cl. All the Ireland HC bottles are 70cl as in Canada. That's what I've seen so far.

Lately I've really been enjoying the 3 year for cocktails especially Mojitos and classic Daiquiris. I've tried the 7 year about a year ago, from what I can remember I liked it pretty much (I consumed it mostly with coke and it made a good rum and coke in my opinion). Cheers

    The best and perhaps one of the strongest Cuban rums is the 12 year old Santiago. Quite difficult to obtain now without spending a LOT of money. Until recently I had at least one bottle in my collection but inevitably if you like rum you will drink it, and I did.During my last visit to Cuba they were doing an 11 year old which I did not try so I cannot comment on that one, The Cuban people regard Santiago rum as the best. As for the Havana Club brand the 3 year old white rum is perfect for Mojitos or mixers. The darker Anejo Special is a good general sipping rum with plenty of taste. The 7 year old is excellent with plenty of Coffee and caramel notes and for most Cuban rum fans I would definitely recommend that one. As for the 15 year old and beyond I cannot say. If you can afford them then you do not need my opinion about them. Suffice to say that as a general rum fan I would recommend Cuban rums as being among the best you might try and if you get to Cuba you will be in rum heaven!

      That's the best in my opinion the Santiago but for the money (in Cuba) the habana club 7 years is hard to beat. I happen to like the cheapest white Habana club rum also for some reason better than many others in their line, this white rum is in my opinion the rum that goes better with any drik when preparing/mixing stuff

    I noticed you poured the rum then went right in for the sip, and called the first one “stingy.” I know you said you’re not a professional, but rum, like any fine sipping alcohol needs to breathe. Pour your glass, then let it rest for between 5-10 minuets first, then enjoy. The spirit needs the air to allow it to open up, otherwise it will be “stingy” and alcohol forward.

    The 3 Anos beats any white rum in the US. I would never mix it. Really, any of the Cuban HC line beats US-available, and - screw top or not - should not be undervalued. Or mixed. Only the Jamaican Appleton varieties are competition in the US, but as a different style of rum.

I downed the 7-year bottle during Christmas and it mixed well with eggnog as well. I still have 2 more bottles of each, so I'm still safe. Nice video, I had fun watching it. By the way, I bought my bottles in Panama and Europe. I took a plane from Madrid to Chicago with my first 2 bottles, then two days later I flew to Panama and came back with 2 more, then my girlfriend brought 2 more 2 weeks later when she flew back from Europe. • @90293Mike
      @90293Mike  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In Tijuana, you can find Seleccion at a few places. There is a large liquor store across from Plaza Rio called La Playa and Seleccion is about $60. There are also some liquor stores along Avenida Revolucion, mainly on the east side of the street between 4th and 8th streets. You can find it there for $55-70 if they have any, but you can bargain in those stores (you can bargain anywhere on Avenida Revolucion).
      As far as 15 Anos, I could only find it in one store which is Leyva's Licores which is on the east side of Revolucion between 6th and 7th (approximately). His list price is $300 but you can bargain down to at least $270, probably more if you are a good bargainer. It may be elsewhere but I couldn't find it.
      For the cheaper bottles (3 Anos, 7 Anos, etc) , I just buy them at Soriana Hiper or Ley (any large local market).

      @cmmates885 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The seleccion is fairly uncommon in cuban liquor stores. when they stock it they usually have a good amount of bottles. As for the 15 year rum I have only seen a small handful in my time in cuba and that was in the airport duty free.

      There is a supermarket chain in Tijuana called "Soriana Hiper" - they are in many locations but the biggest one is in the Plaza Rio (see my video on Plaza Rio). There are a couple more in the downtown area. They usually carry the 3 Anos, Anejo Especial, and 7 Anos. Also, if you walk down Avenida Revolucion which is the main "tourist" street in TJ, there are a number of liquor stores. Most of them carry some Havana Club. There are a few good ones in the area of 5th-7th street on Revolucion. I like Leyva's Licores which I think is near 6th and Revolucion. They carry most Havana Club including Seleccion and 15 Anos (those are expensive though). The local liquor stores are higher than the supermarkets since they cater to tourists, but you can bargain. There is also a very large liquor store called La Playa which is across the street from Plaza Rio and they have Havana Club at pretty good prices. Hope this helps.

      Oliver Fasola You are fortunate. We are still waiting for economic sanctions to be lifted here in the US. Have bought some at the duty free at Pearson Airport.
