- Occupying a unique middle ground between a true un-aged white rum and young golden rum. This bottling from Havana Club is still extremely mixable, but has a far greater breadth of flavour than other non-aged counterparts.

One other example of an aged white rum I neglected to mention in the video is an Australian rum called Beenleigh which I can recommend highly.
Best rum I have drank so far. I like the 3 year old rums more than the older and darker ones.
It is a unique rum, and well worth the price if you can get it.. unfortunately in America we still cannot get it due to the archaic embargo on Cuba since 1962... and still going..
No other can be better for the perfect cuba libre or mojito! I love it, and it even leaves me with 0 headache afterwards.

This rum has no equal for a mojito. It is really quite exceptional. I like this better than the 7 year.
Wray and Nephew also makes an overproof unaged beast of a rum that rings in at 63% ABV.
This one's a bit of a curse like that... once you've made a cocktail with it there's no going back to the cheaper options.

My go-to white rum is Arcane Cane Crush from Mauritius. Unaged, distilled once in Mauritius in pot stills, and once more in the Cognac region in alambics. Bottled at 43.8% ABV, it's worth a try if you can find it.
As for the Smith&Cross Navy Strength, it's still listed as available on both the US distributor's site and by most of the sources I can find here in Europe, and I couldn't find any info on its discontinuation. Where did you hear/read about it?

Not sure about the rum; okay bottom shelf I guess but I totally agree about fresh lime juice which is probably better than this rum. Even in these difficult times I can get my hands on fresh limes. Mediocre rum can really be transformed by a squeeze. I just bigged up a pineapple with a drop. I know they aren't available everywhere but the Habitation Velier white rums are amazing. Quality rum distillate without any addition.

It can be sipped certainly. But the 7 year will have more complexity and fullness to it.

Hey lads sorry my post seems a little harsh. But I don't sip white rum so I guess that was my issue. I do use it in cocktails of course, and the Hab 3 is good. Cana brava 3, flor de cana (4?), barbancourt 8 (sugar of course not molasses), plantation 3 star are some of my faves. Frankly depending on the drink I also use bacardi (shouts of horror). Have a good one.
