    After my first baby was born in 6h 42 min (literally from first contraction to mucus plug, water break, baby comes out) I was so surprised when my doctor told me that my second would take less than 3h... I had really strong (not painful just intense) Braxton Hicks contractions with my second daughter and when my water broke and I started to feel „uncomfortable“ at night I knew labor had started. I really focused on the contractions and tried to „move with the waves and give them space“ as my midwife had told me and the progression I experienced was insane! After 30 minutes I could already feel the urge to push and 7 minutes later my daughter was born. I was absolutely in awe of what my body had done and it was nearly painless! It’s so exciting to see and hear how different each body works and how important it is that we all find OUR OWN way of bringing life into this world! Thank you for sharing your stories with us - I hope this birth goes just as smoothly!

    I had fertility issues and struggled to get pregnant with my first child. We finally conceived and gave birth the month before my 34th Birthday. I only gained 16 pounds, but my baby bump was HUGE. I gave birth to a healthy 9 lb 1 oz son. I felt pretty good about myself for weighing less post pregnancy than pre-pregnancy. An elderly gentleman at our church stated “I told my wife I’d never seen anyone get as big as you and only have one baby”. You just have to overlook unkind comments and move on. We were able to conceive again and almost three years later, we had a 9 lb baby girl. All babies are a gift from God.

    Haha, That doesn’t surprise me at all about the midwives feeling baby’s hand and being excellent at knowing your placenta’s position. I’m a L&D RN and our midwives and Nurses are ALWAYS checking baby’s position. OBGYN’s rarely even touch our patient’s bellies. It’s lovely to see someone online making such wonderful content for pregnancy. I love how patient you are with your due date. That is a hard lesson to learn.

    Mom of 7 here. Pregnancy got so much better with each one. I was 21 with the first and 38 with the last. I loved having older kids to be a part of all the excitement, but it was less all consuming FOR SURE with each one. I was tired but by the 7th, my ability to function on no sleep was a super power. Being a mom has been more wonderful than I could have dreamed.

    Out of seven kids, I did the Bradley Method 6 times. Absolutely an amazing experience! I recommend it to everyone.
    However, three were posterior. Not easy to push the baby out, but could NOT have done it without doing Bradley.
    Home birth, midwives, combined with Bradley was perfect for me.
    Praying for a beautiful birth for you and baby.

    This video made me feel so good about my own birthing, nursing and sleep training experience! Thank you so much for your honesty! I thought I was the only one out there having an awful first birth experience as well as having to sleep train my baby at 12 months, after catering to everything and nursing nights through. It made me feel bad as I'm in a very stressfull season at work, and that I would induce trust issues with my little one. Your video helps me not to think too much in that direction and even take heart and go for the next one soon. It's very inspiring that you should have a sixth baby after those first experiences!

    Yes girl! Yes! I home birth (first in the hospital, then two at home) and I homeschool, I have all boys. My last pregnancy flew by simply because I'm so busy at home. I hardly had time to think about it. I have no "signs" and then bam I'm in labor. You pause life and have a baby and then that's that. The best part is after and your own shower and your bed and then your children's voices in the house as you snuggle your new baby. The excitement for me comes after baby comes and just loving on the new little person. I am so confident now in caring for my kids, our natural health choices etc and I'm now 36 years old and I really enjoy it all now even more than when I first became a mom. I type this as my 16 month old is sleeping on me in bed. Blessings to you! Hope it all goes well!

    Hi Lisa! I followed your pregnancy this year as I was pregnant myself. i love your living, cooking and decorating style.
    My baby girl (first time mom here) was born last September 28th, at 39 weeks and one day. 💕 No epidural, no episiotomy, no tears, most of labor at home and two and a half hours at the hospital. 👍🏻
    All the best when labor comes!!

    I used simple hypnobirthing techniques and had my three babies fairly easily, no drugs at all. You are absolutely right - relaxation is key! My last baby was almost 10 pounds, and my total labor and delivery was three hours.

    You DO NOT look like you’re having twins. You look perfect. People who ask that question do not have a real understanding of what pregnancy looks like, or a real understanding of what is appropriate for that matter either!!

    Oh man! Our birth and baby experiences are so similar. I loved hearing you talk about yours. I have four kids ages almost 7 down to 13 months and #1 was a hospital birth much like yours, #2 was a natural hospital birth, and my last two were home water births. You have me super interested in the Bradley Method though haha. But my first had some complications such as low oxygen and just not breathing well that I also attribute to all the stuff they were pumping into me and it totally converted me to home birth. Anyway, it’s nice to connect with people who share your views and who have had similar experiences. I also totally support your sleep training method. I did pretty much the same thing a month ago with my baby haha. It worked great! Thanks for sharing!

    You look fabulous! I love that you share your experiences!! I was lucky enough to meet an almost Bradley teacher when we had our first! Our babies never got the Vit K shot and I fought hard on the drops in the eyes...I had great labors and pretty quick ... usually at 42 or 41 weeks! (They didn't want out! My daughter came out hand first!

    Yes! So much common sense advice here! The sleep training stuff is 100% true! And yes, home and hospital births both have risks so weigh the risks for yourself and end up being thankful that we live in a place where whether you chose hospital or home birth you and baby are likely to be fine either way! ❤️ Blessings on you and your upcoming birth!

I also agree that a birth vlog would be somewhat strange to do. I love watching them and find them fascinating, but at the same time it’s a bit intrusive and I’m with you....... I would only want my husband, doctor, close family there. :) sending you love light and prayers for a perfect delivery! Can’t wait to see new baby!

      Veronica Laker I can already relate to that too. Only pregnant with number four right now but the list of needed items for each baby has gotten significantly shorter. With my last I felt like as long as we had 5-6 onesies, diapers and wipes, and a ring sling, we were good to go! 😂

      @FarmhouseonBoone  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    • @emilys3638
      @emilys3638 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That was my question! ☺️ It was really fun to hear Lisa's answer and now other people's experiences as well. I'm also comparing it to my own experiences of nannying my first nanny child versus what will be my ninth! I'm also curious how it'll be different for me when it's my own turn to have a child. I'm sure it'll be worlds apart in many ways! I cannot wait! But yes, I definitely feel like my own list of must-haves has gotten significantly shorter, especially by this point with the ninth infant coming. (I'm not a nanny for a family of 9 children; rather I'm referring to the total amount of children I've been hired to care for during the day while parents are at work.) I agree with the list of essentials being so much smaller, and the busyness of having other older kids around does make it harder to process the fact that another one is due next month! Especially since it's not even in my own belly... 😜

Also, my first was born with her hand by her face and I don’t think it made any sort of difference. No tearing and pushed for only 30min

    Can’t wait to find out what you have. Hope you’re baby comes sooner rather than later. My first 3 were all early by a week or more than my 4th was born at 43 weeks to the day. For the future- make your red raspberry into an extract, then you only need to take a spoonful or two a day and don’t have to stress over drinking a whole gallon of tea. I also make mine into iced tea with organic cane sugar so it’s easier to drink than a hot tea.

    I wanted to share my experience with labour and movement/relaxation. My 1st baby I didn’t move Bradley method style but didn’t know she was in the wrong position so I got a swollen cervix and it wasn’t until I had to move to go to the hospital that the position corrected my contractions calmed down (they were back to back) and the swelling disappeared. She was still born “sunny side up” though after 20 hours. My 2nd I swayed my hips and was on hands and knees, that labour was 2 hours and the pain was not even close to the level of my first. I feel that if you started to experience out of the ordinary pain now since it’s your 6th you would know somethings up so keep doing what works for you!! ❤️❤️

  • @hayleebaird-lira5558
    @hayleebaird-lira5558 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    My first was very similar! Epidural, broke my water, heart dropping and about to go in for csection, checked me one last time and they could feel the head! Our son had the cord around his neck THREE times. And then my actual cervix was torn and I hemorrhaged, because they were pulling him out at that point. (Army hospital).
    We are trying to conceive again now and wondering the best way to birth again. Your family content is so inspiring and refreshing to watch.
    Praying all goes well with your labor and delivery!! You are an amazing strong mama 💪❤

Honestly...I have no idea how you have done all the things you have done this year plus be pregnant too. Pretty amazing journey you have shared with us. My husband watched last one when you were cooking and he mentioned well that seems like a ton of food. Then I shared your story of how many children you have. Then he said well, guess she needs to cook again pretty soon after delivering. Something else I wonder if you have thought of. At a certain age your boys are going to eat you out of house and home. They eat more than girls. It will be fun to see you make adjustments for that.

    I've had 4 babies, 3 of those without medication. 2nd was at home with Bradley method and it was amazing. 3rd and 4th were at a birth center and transition is always horrible but much worse without Bradley method. I prepare for baby around twenty weeks, get everything out and organized and then I can forget about it until it's time for labor.

      I've also had 2 velamentous insertions. With my second I went into labor at 41+4. If I had him at the hospital with an obgyn I would have been induced at 41 weeks and probably had an amniotomy which could have been life threatening for both of us. So glad I had him at home.

Measured 30cm at 33w. and I also measured small with my other two kids and they were 8lbs 2 oz at 39+4 and 7lbs 5oz at 39+1. Planning my first homebirth and drinking my Red Raspberry leaf tea and eating dates. 😁

    Thank you for making this video. I think you have a perfect bump and am not sure why anyone would assume you may be having twins🤔. I do remember in the last 2 weeks of my pregnancy being stared at alot in the street which I found really annoying but maybe your husband is right about people not seeing really pregnant women often. Who knows! Xx

Can you do a video or a blog post about your insurance once the baby is born? Best wishes and good luck to you on baby #6. I miss those days of babies. My youngest was born a month before my 42nd birthday, weighing in at 9 lbs, 3ozs. I can honestly say it was a good experience verses my first, which left me traumatized in so many ways. But after all said and done, he was a perfect.

Were you homeschooled, public schooled, combination of both? You've mentioned growing up on the farm and I agree it would be great to hear a little more. Have Laura join you for the storytelling if she wants! ☺️

    I admire you for having so many kids and doing the homesteading lifestyle. I realize it's not for everyone - as it is not for me. I have 2 children that are 4 years and 9 months apart (now ages 32 and 27). I truly enjoyed each pregnancy and each child individually which is why there is almost 5 years between, but I did not desire to have 6 kids. I am the youngest of 4 and contemplated having another one, but my husband was 36 when we got married, so he was not crazy about having more kids with the space between them that we liked - and I worked outside the home and daycare is really expensive. So, we stopped at 2! I bottle fed the first one and breast-fed the 2nd one for 9 months. So to dispel the myth that breast fed makes for healthier children - it's simply not true. Both of mine were very healthy from the start. Could tell no difference in that regard. Good luck on your labor and delivery and prayers for a healthy #6.

    Blogging the birth🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 as a momma pregnant with her 8th that cracked me up. Yes,it sounds great in theory😉 And as far as “twins”, people don’t see a whole lot of women pregnant for the 5th,6th,7th+ time. We show a lot more compared to the first few pregnancies. It’s just how it is!🤷🏼‍♀️-Jen

    It could be that the OBGYN has a protocol to verify the position of the baby. (For safety purposes or protocol purposes or billing purposes.) I always thought that the hand is by the mouth due to natural rooting & sucking reflexes. Thank you for sharing this video with us.

    I did the Bradley method with my 2nd born and it was a BEAUTIFUL experience. The labor and delivery was easy and spead up my labor. Only 3 hours of labor and 2 pushes. But my 3rd baby labor was awful because the nurses in the hospital didnt allow me to do the Bradley method and put me in positions I hated, which slowed down my labor and then they gave me pitocine. However the deliver was INCREDIBLE, only 1 push. Praying for you and your family 🙏♥️

    Currently pregnant with my fourth baby and considering a home birth this time around. #2 & 3 were birth center births after I was unhappy with my first hospital birth. Not nearly as scary as yours but I was definitely uninformed and let them put me through the system without questioning their choices. My first had jaundice and I think that was from cutting the cord too early. I also wonder about the cocktail of drugs and if they have a long term effect on babies. It’s much less appealing to me to have a hospital birth than a home birth or birth center birth. I love that it’s becoming more common!

    • @FarmhouseonBoone
      @FarmhouseonBoone  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2
