Why the Sony FX3 is still the best camera for real estate video in 2024

The fx3 is a nice little camera but I shoot with the Canon r5c. I do 50/50 video and photography and feel it fits better with being a true hybrid camera. Only downfall is battery life when not using an external power source.

Miami shooter here. Sold my A7SIII and FX6 last week. Rocking FX3 and A1 as I do photos as well. I consider the FX3 as an upgrade to the A7SIII, I never used the viewfinder in the 4 years I owned it. It's not an upgrade I'd recommend because the cameras are pretty similar, but it's an upgrade that made sense for me

Sattin and I call the A7S3/FX3 the "King of Good Enough." I've shot hundreds of RE videos on A7S3 and yeah, even today it's pretty tough to beat. The ONLY thing that's a real head scratcher with all the Sony cameras (except FX6 and above) is the lack of waveform. That, and as you pointed out it is VERY noisy between those base ISOs with big ugly chroma noise. Within those bounds though, it's extraordinarily tough to beat for RE.
One thing not mentioned is how the tracking AF makes it easy to shoot interiors wide open. By poking the screen to track something on the back wall or most of the way through the room, you can just roll your shot and trust it won't jump. Pretty handy for getting enough light in to stay at that base ISO.

Been shooting on the a7siii for like 3+ years as well as the zve1. Always wished that I picked up the fx3. Such a great FF Sony set up!

Interesting reasons. Personally I think Panasonic has almost all those benefits but with cheaper lenses and also has open gate 4:3 - so if your doing vertical content which most agents want/ need you don’t have to shoot it twice like with a Sony.

I’ve been using the Fuji X-S20 for real estate, both photos and video. I’ve been really happy with the results using a Samyang 12mm F2. I don’t yet have the $ to spend well over $2-3k for a higher end camera and lenses, so I’m trying to make the most of this. Haven’t had any complaints and I keep getting work. FLog 2 is really easy to work with in FCP. 2 questions for you @originaldobo, have you ever considered doing reviews/critiques of RE videos from other people? And when you’re doing day/night transitions, how do you charge for your time since you either have to go back to a place or just wait around for it to get dark? Thanks!

Wish I had the money for any of those... I'm still rocking a GH4😅
But for what I do, it still holds up after all these years. However 4k 120 and Sony's focus/low light would be great for when I'm shooting fast action scenes or at night... Maybe someday 😊
    Thank for the video 🤗

Lumix users to Sony: “Finally we got pretty great autofocus”.
Sony users: “Yeah, what of it?”.
Sony users to Lumix: “Finally we’re getting shutter angle”……..
    See where I’m going? 😂
My only point being: lots of great cameras these days. They’re all good. We’re spoilt humans.👌

What about ZV E1? I would love an FX3 but it's kinda expensive. And ZV E1 uses fx3 sensor if I am not mistaken. I just wanna get a separate camera for video, cause A7 IV is not serving me that well

I currently own the fx3, zv-e1 (and a7cii). The zv-e1 is very similar to the fx3 in many ways but you will need to watch out for overheating if shooting longer clips. With its internal fan the fx3 will basically never overheat.
