I comparison shopped, learning and losing other drones for months. I fly in the city.
This is it! Does what I need and want. Resolution is excellent. Stop nit-picking. For about 200 dollars, this is it! You'll never remake Gone With the Wind. Get real.

Great review. I own an Atom SE and you are absolutely right it probably is the best entry level drone in this price range. I have had mine for a month now, it is a joy to fly and the camera is very, very good for photos and video. It is extremely fast, I also recorded a speed of 37 MPH with a tail wind. The camera gimbal, however, does leave a little to be desired. The adjustment wheel for the camera is extremely sensitive and moves too fast for very smooth transitions. Very stable in the wind, I've flown mine in 20 MPH wind with gusts of up to 30 MPH and no issues with control or signal. I have taken mine a little over half a mile so far. Thanks for the review of such a great product
Oh, I almost forgot, Potensic now offers a charging hub with one battery that charges 3 batteries and the controller in an hour and a half or less. My average time for that is one hour ten minutes. This makes for more time in the air and less time cabled to chargers.

That’s a great little starter drone, what really surprised was the quality of the videos and pictures. On lots of those level entry drones the first thing the manufacturer cuts cost on is the camera, after seeing your video I’d have no problem recommending this drone if fact I’m really considering buying one for my granddaughters who I’m teaching to fly so we can spend more time together before they get older and know everything 😂😂😂

Thank you for the review. I really like the whole package you get from here (FMC, controller design, app, flight characteristics and camera). I just need a drone to take daylight photos from photovoltaic systems mounted on rooftops, not for professional purpose of course. I think in this case when I only take care on the picture quality, there would be absolutely no difference if you have a gimbal installed or not, or am I wrong? Maybe then this is a good choice.
This is the best drone for this price to take pictures, it flies just as good if not better than a DJI Mini2 (not the 3) but dosnt have a 3 axes gimbal for video, if I wanted a great drone to take pictures at a great price, this would be it.

Yes, but the remote would probably have to be sitting, unless you can hit the buttons while holding it, sometimes its much safer, especially like off a boat.

Hey im new to drone flying got my first one 2 weeks ago holystone hs720e and after watching your video on this one i found one on market place new the box had been open but never flown just looked at he told me it didn’t come with user manual just quick start guide and my case is nice but diff color then yours but it has the name on it yours don’t but mine don’t have the feet on bottom of the case and mine didn’t come with the strap for the drone but i only paid him 140 cash hope to fly it soon

can you change the height that it returns to home or does it just return home at what eve height you have it at when you select return to home? I dont see a setting in the app or in the manual

how good is the active track? your drone phone footage is really choppy making it hard to tell how good it is, can it follow something fast like a bike?
Ya, the choppy was only when I was showing the video from the app, I live right next to a huge airport, the video from the SD card was great. No, Active track at this price point is better for walking, because without obstacle avoidance I would never use it. that why DJI had never put it on a drone without it. They know they would get back a bunch of crashed drones. for the price this really is a great drone. thanks for watching Wizard

How does the Atom SE compare to the HS710, especially in reliability? I was debating between the HS510 and HS710. Ended up buying the 710 and while it flew great and features were nice, it malfunctioned twice out of about eight flights and just went into a fast circle at about 125ft altitude. I regained control the first time by switching the gps off. The second time it just stopped on its own and I was able to land safely. I sent it back but am now somewhat skeptical of Holy Stone, although I might still consider trying an HS510. The Atom is a little more than I really want to spend but would be willing if it were reliable and also the camera is a big plus.

@@Regtopvideo Good to know. I suspected that was the case. I ended up buying the Atom. It's been very reliable and takes good video considering it doesn't have a 3 axis gimbal. I will say Holystone has phenomenal customer service though.
@@randydue7993I got the new holyton HT50 on prime day for $77 and it’s pretty sweet for the price. It’s a WiFi drone and the camera is good but shaky so I’d say if you are going up into the over $200 range this is a great pick. Personally I’d drop the extra $100 and get a DJI for the aftermarket support and reliability
I kind of find that comparing it to any DJI product to be meaningless. Since I am cash limited, I could care less about ANY other drone. I've got my 300 bucks and already bought an Atom SE. It's still in transit. I really want to see the features and "good/bad" on it's own merits, not a comparison to some other drone. At the end-of-the-day it's all about if the drone meets your own personal needs. The Atom SE meets my needs 100%. That's really all that counts....

EXCELLENT review,just ordered one yesterday,cant wait,have a Holystone 700d currently,this is a great drone for the money,I checked all the reviews & been lookin at the Mavic's,I like the FPV with goggles,just love speed BUT this will suit my needs,this is the BEST one for the money compared to the Mini...any1 know if u can use any goggles with a longer cord instead of the phone??
There are goggles that you put your phone into, i cant remember the name, but try an Ipad with a longer cord and a sunshade!

The Potensic isn’t a WiFi drone, the transmission Sytem is far superior, overall flight experience is way better. I really like this drone, also, it’s coming out with a three axes gimbal soon. But, even now it’s a great performer. I don’t benefit either way, just my honest opinion

It does lock you into a 394 ft height range and that is part of the geofencing so to say it doesn't have geo-fencing is not true It does hold very well in the wind but it makes the photos go to crap as they are sideways. One thing mine does not do is glitch like that, that was horrible. Do you have a DJI Mic? They are killing range on these with bad interference. I never got even a line until like 800 feet

As a drone without a 3-axis gimbal, the Potensic atom se is more of a toy. dji mini 2 se and fimi x8 mini v2 are both more beginner-friendly options.
The potensic atom now has 3 axis gimble. Same drone,and not a toy at all.

Not sure if you can call a drone with 4k a toy, but as they have now released a full 3 axis gimbal version it's irrelevant 😊

no, about 26, which is about normal, 31 would probably be inside iwth no wind and hovering, its still a really long time, its a more powerful battery than the DJI Mini2

@@chaoticadventure well, I have seen all over the forums about the app not working or that you have to pay for it. I tried to dl it on my S22 and it was not on the store. So I tried to dl it from the site. I got a big warning about how the file my contain harmful software. No thanks. It's awful fishy thar It's not on the app store where it is scanned and regulated.

@@riverstone1156 It takes a while for the fourth light on a SG108 battery to go solid. Eventually it will. at least with my batteries. You can try a different USB charger with higher output 2-3 amp.
But the SG108 flies pretty long anyway even if it isn't 100% charged.

A drone without a 2/3-axis gimbal is much easier to carry in your pocket or bicycle handlebar bag. So yes it can make sense to have just EIS. Gimbal covers often suck and fall off.
But this Potensic Atom SE is just a bit too expensive to compete with a DJI Mini. I hope there will be a cheaper copy soon with GPS, brushless motors, SD-card slot, EIS. And more importantly for me the right type of follow-me. Very few drones have a usable compass-type follow-me feature and a update homepoint ( return-to-controller/phone) option. You can't have a drone that suddenly flies back to where it took off when you are biking or hiking. I wish these Chinese drone manufacturers would understand.
As soon as I made the video they let me know a 3 axes gimbal is coming soon. Other than that I like this drone better than the Mini2, but, the Mini3 might be ther best drone ever made so far! Thanks for your input!
@@b4ugo Most people can't afford spending $1000 on a drone. Even if they can they would be too afraid to actually use it. And for what? for 5 views on TH-cam? I'm perfectly happy with my $150 drones. If someone starts crying about the video not being perfect then I really don't care. What is important for me is functionality. Take for example my LYZRC L109 Pro. It does a pretty good follow-me staying in compass position as it should. It's the only usable type of follow-me. If it only follows from behind it's crap. It also does a return-to-controller, a homepoint update, while in or after using follow-me, exactly what you want. So the fish-eye video being a bit shaky and only 1080P is good enough for me. The thing works.
Yes maybe a DJI Mini SE or Mini 2 is nicer with the Litchi or Maven app? But with a third party app and extra battery you're talking $500 already.
I do like this Potensic Atom for the fact it doesn't have a fragile gimbal. I think the video looks pretty good. But it is too much money for what it is. And it does not have the right type of follow-me. Drone manufacturers should get on a bike and then test their products, instead of standing in a field with their lazy ass moving only the sticks a bit. Because then they would soon find out how usable their drone is in a real life situation.
And that is the problem too with a fancy DJI Mini 3 Pro or something. All people do is film some trees from above. They won't risk it in a more challenging environment. If you are in unknown territory and on the move, it suddenly becomes a very different story. You are not going to spend an hour shooting a 20 second video. What you want is a small drone you can launch in a matter of seconds to take a quick selfie, and ride on. Trust me, that is exactly what 99% of all people want. Very few consumers buy a drone just for landscapes. Most get a drone to film their own personal activities, their holiday trips, their bike tour, their boat. Landscapes are usually boring as hell. A video has to have a story and be well edited. If the drone footage is far less from perfect nobody will notice.
Besides it is getting more difficult to fly a drone with all the rules anyhow. Soon we will have remote-ID and before you know it you get a fine for filming too close to an empty barn or naked cow. For that reason I quit paying my registration. They only purpose is to punish you if you fly a drone 10 meters high at 20 meters distance. I will stick to my cheap drones and won't invest in something expensive I can hardly use.

Can someone explain wifi drone vs gps as far as distance it can go??
Wi-Fi uses your phone, probably 300-400 meters max even thought they say 1,000 meters. A wifi drone can still be a GPS drone that uses the Satillites to keep its location. Then there are Non_wifi drone that use the technology of the remote and the drone and not your phone as in DJI, Autel and this Potensic, which gives it a range of miles. Overall the controller connectivity is much more solid even when its close

First: It is not easy to design a drone under 250 grams with a 2/3 axis gimbal.
But only EIS can be very handy. Don't need a lousy gimbal guard so easier to carry in your pocket or bike bag.

I like this drone. I like the price. But there is no gimbal camera. The anti-jitter tech (software) might be able to overcome some of the shaking and jitter, but the gimbal also provides directional control, and not just smooth pictures and video. So I am going to wait until potenstic upgrades the Atom SE with a gimbal camera. I have heard rumors there is something in the pipeline, but potensic official website does not indicate anything about it. Maybe it's just a rumor. I don't know. Hopefully potensic realizes that there are plenty of people willing to pay up to 275.00 for an upgrade.
and it would also be nice if this drone upgrade adds collision avoidance and some other flight programming.

Thanks JHMO, yes, it’s coming soon, lots of people just want pics, also not having a gimbal is one less thing to break (and the most expensive) for a beginner, they are selling a bunch of these. But of course a gimbal would be better….the flight of this drone is as good if not better than the DJI mini (not the Pro3)

I have a large forest I manage and it's helpful to fly a small inexpensive drone and provide 20 of them to my logging crew. I am new to drones but it's been shown in to me how helpful they are for planning and saving my crew lots of lost time and expensive logistics issues. Thanks 👍

My friend has that kind of drone too. And he has Mini SE, that potensic drone has better features in paper but in reality, yes features works but the footage is useless. And my friend says Mini SE still worth it for his price than that potensic lol.

@@b4ugo i did watched your review. That is why you see me here in comment section. Some of the footage is kinda okay i agree, there are times that the footage got better horizon level. I'd rather add little bit more $ and buy the DJI Mini SE, worthy enough to get the whole footage stabilzed.

is it me or I have the worst luck in the entire world? so I bought this drone 4 days ago, I learned how to fly it and it was simple, I knew how to fly drones so this was easy to fly, so today, I flew outside, it connected to the GPS, and I did the compass calibration I did the remote calibration and I started flying the drone, the GPS signal was stable, but suddnely the drone got a mind of its own and crashed, I recovered it but it has terrible damage. A warning for someone who might wanna buy this drone, their support isnt good. They are refusing the refund and 300$ wasted.
It looks like a spitting image of a DJI SE only downfall 1 axes gimbal
3 axis is coming soon they told me after I made the video, this flies just as good if not better than the mini2, and that really impressive

It seems like a nice drone, but you are over selling it. You are seriously downplaying what this drone does not have and not mentioning that for a few extra bucks, you can get a mini 2 or a used Mavic Air.
I agree, but this still is a good value for what it is, takes great pictures and very easy to fly.
I just don't understand why would you buy this drone for 235$, when you can literally buy dji mini se for 299$. Mini se is a far superior drone in every aspect with the reliability of dji, 3 axis gimble and what not. I have seen so many rc channels portraying this drone as great value for money. I just don't understand how this drone at 235$ with no gimble can be a great value for money. Without Gimble the camera is practically useless even in a little wind. There is a limit of what EIS can do and in real world I have never seen a drone with EIS producing good videos or even decent recreational videos. Without a Gimble your videos will be shaky and jittery even with a little wind which is something we see almost always in real world scenario. So practically this drone is a toy and a very expensive one. If your goal is just learning to fly then why would spend 200 usd when you can get a cheap drone for 40-50 bucks from companies like holystone etc. And if you want a drone for videos and photos just add a 50-60 bucks more and get dji mini se which is like far far superior than this drone with the beautiful camera and a true three axis gimble. This drone for me just doesn't fit in any category.
At $235 it comes with an extra battery and a nice case, also the gimbal is protected, its a great value for what it is. Is the MiniSE a better drone? Just the gimbal, other than that they are equal. Thanks for watching and your input.
Dji fly safe / geo fencing or whatever it's called it a anti-feature in my opinion... And is the biggest reason why I avoid dji drones..
That and they are "partially state-owned" by the Chinese government, and US government institutions have prohibited the internal use of DJI products... So there's that too...
