Thank you Mr. Brown … I was in Mississippi state penitentiary for two years … it was the darkest time of my life .. A old man recommended the red rising series to me .. I read through the five books 4 times .. You will never understand the amount of strength an purpose your books instilled in my life during that hard time.. now that I am free I’ve jus finished Lightbringer, and again all I can say is thank you Mr. Brown… Per aspera ad Astra
Pierce Brown…. Man. This guy KNOWS how to emotionally put readers through the wringer! I’m sure Light Bringer will be epic (through many bursts of cheers and tears).
It's so great that you have the notoriety to be able to land interviews with prominent and prolific authors like Pierce Brown and Brandon Sanderson. I would love to see more content like this and I'm eagerly waiting the next interview! That being said, it's so awesome to see you being interviewed on other channels as well. Your storytelling is deep and engaging and I can't wait to see what else you do!
Woke up full of hopeium wondering if MAYBE, just maybe Daniel would be able to snag an interview with Pierce Brown on pre-order delivery day. What a G. Always delivers. Thanks bud.
I’ve such a man crush on PB. It goes beyond crushing on him, I want to be him lol. Wish I was as introspective and sharp and still down to earth as he is. Great interview as always Daniel! I hope author interviews are a thing you continue to pursue as you change angles on your channel. You’re so good at them.
Oh believe me, I understand you. I met him a couple years ago in a signing event. Asked him a small question while he was signing my copies of the books and he went into a very detailed and enthusiastic explanation about it... While there was a huuge friciking line behind me! :D But he also had a kind word for everyone. He is clearly very passionate about this whole thing!
I’ve missed these author interviews!!! Really enjoy your conversations with authors. Your interviews in the past have been big reasons for me picking up those authors books
The series was already on my TBR, but I love hearing that he thinks it's important to be sincere. I think one of the toughest parts of writing is knowing whether or not the emotion you're feeling while writing is relayed to the reader. I'm glad that he's still feeling that and needs it present in order to write, that makes me even more eager to jump into his books. Great interview!
Holy shit, I loved the Red Rising series over the years and I've seen pictures of Pierce Brown, but I didn't realize how cool as hell Piece is. Great interview.
They’re dark in a different way though. Not really more violent or high-stakes, it just seems like the characters themselves are more pessimistic. (For good reason imo)
Red Rising has been on my TBR for a long time, but after seeing this interview, I feel like I should actually pick it up soon. Thanks for the interview, Daniel! Love to see the questions and conversations you have with your guests!
Pause at 4:26, this is how I felt when I saw the title to this video. I started reading/listening to this series thanks to you Daniel and have been unable to stop. Dark age is currently preoccupying most of my time awake. Thanks again!
I am still catching up on this series, as I was late to the hype (currently halfway through Morning Star 🙈), but I'm so pumped to be able to join the community in waiting for the final book. Can't wait to get to book 6!
One thing I particularly love about the series is the sophistication and philosophical style of Brown’s writing which is unmatched in the genre. As a huge fan (and classical archaeologist 😅) it made me so happy when they talked about the classical influences. He doesn’t only copy lore and myths but uses the material to create and fuel his own ideas and this is very rare in recent publishing.
Holy cow. I forget it's the release month of Lightbringer. I'm still on Book 3 and I'm making an effort to finish it before 2023 ends and get Books 4, 5 and 6. This a promise! Nice interview by the way. Pierce Brown is one eloquent storyteller.
I just started Red Rising this morning on audio book! Glad this interview popped up on my feed. I didn't watch because I don't know if there are spoilers, but I've got it marked to come back to later!
Just got Light Bringer in the mail yesterday. I haven't started it yet since I've been reading the Percy Jackson series. I just finished the last PJ book and will start Light Bringer tomorrow.
great interview and great interviewee. I just restarted listening to book 1 - decided to re-listen to the whole series, because I thought it would make reading Light bringer so much better :-) (also since there is no Whispersync version of the audio yet available, I thought that maybe by the time I finish book 5 there will be :-)
Light Bringer was amazing, just finished it an hour ago. Looking forward to your review. I wish Merph continued the series after Morning Star, I’d love to have seen deep dive reviews from her for IG, DA, and LB
Finished light bringer. Had some good moments, but thought it handled the themes set up in their previous two books quite poorly. Would love to get my hands on the draft he wrote before deleting a bunch of stuff though.
Please ask why they changed the audiobook narrator after the first three to a different format and if there are any plans to go back to just Tim :) I loved the first three but couldn't finish the others :/ great writer :)
I believe he has answered that in another interview. Either Mike’s books reviews or the one with Maude Garret. He said he wanted to try something different with the new POVs in IG. But is returning with Tim for the new book, and the new RR audio release.
Pretty high up, because it is very fast paced easy to read and has great characters, it keeps expanding and ask very good fundamental questions which challenges the way you think about important concepts. although consider that this is my all time favorite book series so I’m biased
I've noticed i tend to read people's books only after i've seen a bunch of interviews of them and concluded they're cool... So i guess i'm on my way to reading red rising now.

Good for you! I have found that more often than not a fiction book can have greater impact on you than a self help book or just talk.
Ok young handsome man is not how i pictured Pierce Brown lmao
Oh really? That's funny. Am I the only person who looks up pictures of authors? Haha 😂
His picture is literally on the back of every single book he’s made lmfao
@@kiannachantel6669 Not on the books I have
Right?
And yet, somehow, I think it makes perfect sense at the same time-considering the themes and the sensibilities of his books, in a way.😅😁 Lol
Pierce Brown…. Man. This guy KNOWS how to emotionally put readers through the wringer! I’m sure Light Bringer will be epic (through many bursts of cheers and tears).
"the gravity is low on Mars..." line made me cry a couple times that day.

Completely agree. He’s such a down to earth but highly intelligent person.

Yes more author interviews!! If this is the content you want more of I'm stoked! 🎉
Thank you so much for this video. Just finished Light Bringer and so excited for Red God.
I’ve missed these author interviews!!! Really enjoy your conversations with authors. Your interviews in the past have been big reasons for me picking up those authors books
What a book. Thanks to both of you.

Great interview!
Did you ever read them? What'd you think?
Holy shit, I loved the Red Rising series over the years and I've seen pictures of Pierce Brown, but I didn't realize how cool as hell Piece is. Great interview.
I have only read the first three books of the series so far but I did not expect to love them so much! Great interview!
The fourth book, iron gold, is a weaker book for sure but the fifth, dark age, is the best of the series in my opinion. Definitely check them out!
@@justinjosie5417 dark age keeps the foot on our necks.😄😅 Pierce did not let up at all with the pacing and exceptional storytelling .
@@no.6377 not for one second. I literally never knew what to expect next. Felt like every chapter had some new twist.
I have loved the last 2 books! For sure different than the original trilogy. Way more dark. But I love it! Excited to see how this ends.
Way more dark? The first 3 are already dark??? What the heck Pierce
They’re dark in a different way though. Not really more violent or high-stakes, it just seems like the characters themselves are more pessimistic. (For good reason imo)

Thanks for the interview, Daniel! Love to see the questions and conversations you have with your guests!
You won’t be disappointed. By far my favorite series
One of the most exciting authors working. I can't wait to see what he does next
Pause at 4:26, this is how I felt when I saw the title to this video. I started reading/listening to this series thanks to you Daniel and have been unable to stop. Dark age is currently preoccupying most of my time awake. Thanks again!
Daniel you are such a good interviewer
I’ve been waiting for this one, Pierce is such a chill dude and talented author
Yes! To be entertained by the writing. It’s an amazing experience. I love it when the characters have a mind of their own.
I'm so excited to read Lightbringer. I've been a huge fan of this saga since I read the first book.

@@maria03974 I'm on chapter 33. I've laughed, I've cried... I think this is my favorite one so far.
I just bought Red Rising this weekend on a whim, I'm very excited!
Oh! Thanks for reminding me of the release. I'll listen to the series again beforehand! Also, excellent interview!!!
Great interview! You asked great questions and Pierce Brown seems like an awesome guy
Excellent timing for this interview. I just finished Dark Age yesterday and today was the audiobook launch of Lightbringer. Thanks!

I am incredibly excited for another entry into this series. Pierce Brown has not let me down so far.
Always super excited about author interviews! They might not get the most views, but they're always super insightful
Author interviews are my FAVORITE
I just started Red Rising this morning on audio book! Glad this interview popped up on my feed. I didn't watch because I don't know if there are spoilers, but I've got it marked to come back to later!
What a treat!!
Red rising is so good!!!
Just finished Red Rising, what a masterpiece
Daniel you are the reason I got into this series! Super excited to see this interview!
What a fantastic interview.
Awesome interview!
I genuinely miss seeing these
Just finished Light Bringer! Great book!
Man, what an excellent interview...so engaging and open...I'm so excited for this book...kudos sir...
Such great, informed questions. I really enjoyed this
MY FAVORITE AUTHOR EVER
HOT DAMN PIERCE BROWN. I blushed almost as much just watching that interview as Daniel did while giving it.
iI NEED SOMEONE TO READ ALONG WITH!!!!!!!!!! This is SOOOOOOOOOOOO good I'm on chapter three and I LOOOOOOVE the dialogue
What a surprise! So glad you got to do this Daniel!
"Readers know I could kill in the drop of a dime" *chuckle*
what an absolute mad man

Need an uncut version of this interview. This is historical journalism
I love everything this man says.
i love the both of u sooo much what a blessing
Great interview 👍 thank you
thanks I felt this interview very, as I write my second book, I feel this interview very much.
I was just re-reading the original trilogy a few weeks ago. This is great timing.
Damn this was a great interview. I really enjoyed the focus on writing as a craft from the perspective of two authors. Good stuff!
Wow nice I'm currently reading Morning star so this is a nice surprise
Just started Lightbringer yesterday. I'm back with my old friends!
Love you Dan man, love the interview!!
Author interviews are always a favorite. Now I'm torn between Red Rising and Gentlemen Bastards as my next series after Malazan.
Loved the interview and got excited for the book. Just ordered it and it doesn’t match the others 😭
Just got Light Bringer in the mail yesterday. I haven't started it yet since I've been reading the Percy Jackson series. I just finished the last PJ book and will start Light Bringer tomorrow.
Wooooo!!!! An Interview, funk yeah!
I love how perice likes small outlines to suprise himself. I just imagine him being like 😲 i cant beleave that just happened😢 while typing.
Omg Pierce Brown truly IS handsome. So talented ❤
Darrow and Cassius bromance coming to full effect in this one
Can’t wait!
I am so hyped!
OHHH WOOWW CAN'T WAIT
I'n very excited for Light Bringer, I just have to finish Dark Age before I get my copy😊

I am 200 pages in and found this so insightful. Thanks! Do you have any plans to talk to anyone regarding neon ghosts?
Light Bringer was amazing, just finished it an hour ago. Looking forward to your review. I wish Merph continued the series after Morning Star, I’d love to have seen deep dive reviews from her for IG, DA, and LB
The guy is 35 and will finish 7 part series before GRRM.
GRRM has written more than 60 sci-fi and other hugo winning novels before ASOIAF. Just saying
Great!
Finished light bringer. Had some good moments, but thought it handled the themes set up in their previous two books quite poorly.
Would love to get my hands on the draft he wrote before deleting a bunch of stuff though.
That goblin light is magic👍🔥
“ I’m gonna start doing videos that I am proud of “ then immediately interviews Pierce Brown 😂🫡 goat
Why is he so fucking hot man?, Like... that smile.
Just finished reading Red Rising last night, loved it. PAX AU TELEMANUS!!!!!
Release the lore book
Are they Talking about a possible release date of book 7 during this interview?
Please ask why they changed the audiobook narrator after the first three to a different format and if there are any plans to go back to just Tim :) I loved the first three but couldn't finish the others :/ great writer :)

He’s returning to just Tim with Lightbringer!
Light Bringer is just TGR. I personally loved having multiple narrators, but either way is fine with me.
Pierce Brown’s writing hurts my soul….in a good way I think
Book of Lore............ 😮😮😮 15:51
Will there be a movie or Hulu series
I think theyre making a tv series
HAIL REAPER!!!
For someone new to fantasy, how high up on the list should Red Rising be? I’ve heard. Lot of good things about it
Pretty high up, because it is very fast paced easy to read and has great characters, it keeps expanding and ask very good fundamental questions which challenges the way you think about important concepts. although consider that this is my all time favorite book series so I’m biased
YESSSS GOBLINS UNITE
Damn, the goblins bringing in the gemstones.
Great timing! Although now Im reading instead of watching this video 😂
I think red rising has one of the best fantasy world building overrall
Can anyone tell me before i watch if there’s any spoilers? Im about to start dark age
If you still haven't listened, nope! No spoilers
Hey Daniel, what headphones do you use? I don't recognize them.
Dahhm’ Daniel, how much for the Licanius trilogy?
over ten hours early gang
Very sad that the audiobook only has one narrator! Lightbringer doesn't feel the same as the brilliant narration of dark age.
I've noticed i tend to read people's books only after i've seen a bunch of interviews of them and concluded they're cool... So i guess i'm on my way to reading red rising now.
Not gonna lie, but I bought Red Rising because I found out that the writer is a handsome man. 😂
Seems like a transition period for Daniel. I hope his previous success has allowed him to be more creative and free
Looks like Daniel is in love with him
Can’t blame him at all lol
