After reading Michel Pastoureau's "The Devil's Cloth: A History of Stripes," I saw an opportunity to expound upon his ideas and apply them to the movies. Once you're on the lookout for stripes, you can see just how nicely their historical significance aligns with the significance of striped characters in the movies.
the fact that the creator of the IBM logos last name, Rand, directly translates to “stripe” in swedish, is so amusing to me
I like the part where he said "stripes"
I'm not even sure if "stripe" is a real word anymore... I've heard it far too often in the last 10 minutes
When I was a teenager I went through the edgy phase where I drew a lot of horror and gore and I often, without thinking, gave most of my characters some kind of stripes. Maybe the stripes used in TV and movies subconsciously got integrated into my mind, but when drawing I for some reason associated them with mental illness. Weird...
In the movie Inside Out from Pixar, Riley has a rainbow striped shirt at the beginning (showing the colors of all the emotions). Later she wears striped t-shirt hidden under a yellow hoodie (which is the color of Joy, probably meaning that she hides behind the mask of happiness), and at the end she wears black when she is separated from her feelings.
I also think that Juno wore stripes so her pregnancy could stand out more. the stripes bend because of her curved belly which is more visible than just plain clothing
I also just think Juno wearing stripes helps accentuate her pregnant tum tum. The stripes follow the curve and bring more attention to it. Idk

"Artists... and the Ramones" subtle burn.
I think your interpretation of the "The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas" was a bit of a miss/stretch. The kid of the camp commander simply hadn't seen anyone in a prison uniform before so he assumed they were pjs. This assumption is based on his childish naiveté, his privilege and his impartiality towards the jewish kid. That's what the movie is plays on, not on our "society's multiple interpretations of the stripe".
“A man with an actual fear of stripes. I doubt you could do that with any other pattern”
Ah, the three genders of modern world:
"The stripe is possibly the most noticeable pattern"
the stripes also accentuate juno's pregnant belly
That was arguably the greatest transition into a sponsorship ad I’ve ever watched, bravo
Wow, I never knew such a topic could be so interesting. Awesome vid
The best time to wear a striped sweater is all the time...
The dude sounds EXACTLY like benson from Regular Show I can't not hear it-
I literally never thought about it, but... 'Now I see it'!
In the Black Mirror episode “Men Against Fire” the main character that was starting to rebel against the system was named Stripe
