It just hit me. They lost their lead writter. So they wouldnt have a writter for future dlc. So instead they took what they had chopped it up and sold it in pieces.

Billy Batson Totally agree. I wasn't on board the Destiny hype train at first. I just plucked it up and gave it a shot and happened to like it. I mean, it felt like it was missing something (I mean Jesus I was playing 'Ryse' at the time too, and the story was fucking AMAZING) but still had fun and it turned out to be my favorite game. When I did my homework and saw what the game was SUPPOSED to be like-- well, THEN I was disappointed. Its still my favorite game, and I hope to see this game progress better with time. From the looks of 'Taken King' perhaps the team at Bungie has heard woes. I have high exceptions on the next game.

I only looked into the semantics behind the terminology in order to show Ryan how unjustified his complaints where in the context that he used. Destiny does have a very thin story with not much plot and I'm hoping that they fix that through updates and DLC by adding more story missions that actually fill this story as well as it could've been. My point here is this: Destiny does have a lacking story but that is the only real argument I've seen from anyone. This doesn't mean that every single choice the developers made is a terrible one. I'm hoping that the story turns out to be one like in the reddit post that i linked in my previous comment. But I'm sick and tired of hearing everyone complain about every aspect of the game when it really only has the one major flaw: the story.
Considering it's supposed to be a 10 year saga, it needs a good story. The mission structure was so bland. You basically started at the same spot, hopped on a sparrow. Lined up your ironsights on enemies, pulled the trigger, they died, cycle continued, Dinklebot scanns a computer terminal for 5 minutes, you kill more enemies, ghost tells you that your objective is complete, you wait 30 seconds, mission ends, start new mission, do the same thing, 30 more times over the course of 10 hours, game ends. In Halo, at least theres strategy involved. In Halo 3 when you killed a brute, the grunts would cower in fear. So in legendary you used that tactic. You could also charge a plasma pistol, then finish with a head shot. You could shoot a jackal in the arm, so it lowers it's shield. In Destiny, YOU JUST AIM AND SHOOT. I don't want to spend $60 on a game that has potential. I want the $60 game to be good from the start. When you have to depend on saying that Bungie will do better next time, and that the DLC ( COSTS EVEN MORE MONEY) will improve the game, you are clearly a stupid individual. Now it's your turn to write me a novel of your defense on Destiny. You were going to do it anyway.

I know plenty of people who refuse to buy the sequel and DLC. That's potential money lost because of a poor product initially.

I love looking back on these comments and seeing how far the game has come. I was pretty upset over the cut content when I was told of it, but now I kinda think that destiny is better than it would have been if we got the original story. What would happen once that cut campaign was completed? What would dlc be like? It would be hollow, because we would of gotten the best from the start and be let down when it couldn't recapture those moments.

You know, it's fascinating. This trailer does show by how far Bungie missed the mark they set for themselves with vanilla Destiny, but if you look at the incremental improvements of the game since then, they've been slowly crawling closer and closer to that ideal. Weapons that you the player can look at and say "I know what the wielder had to go through to get that," multiple activities to choose from to reach the end-game, the ability to go to Saturn... Maybe, just maybe, by the end of the franchise's projected 10-year cycle, we might just play the game Bungie originally intended.
i was so fucking emotionally invested in this game up until launch. all the trailers and vidocs told us things that never saw the light of day in the retail version. loot chests, tons of different planets, a great story, player interaction, and a dynamic open-world. the first mission in the retail version looks much more cinematic than the rest of the game. multiplayer looks different too. no game was ever going to top Destiny and it's ambition. i have two questions that i need answered if i'm ever going to have peace in my life again. 1. what happened? 2. will the original idea of Destiny ever form into a full game?

Destiny really hit the nail on the head with the environment and art design; actually, everything in this ViDoc really shows Bungie's strengths, from Guardian design, to the social aspect, to the smooth gunplay; after all these years we're still going strong haha

It's probably a one time area that you don't get to explore. The areas that we have seen are able to be explored, So this might be like a mission that takes you to Saturn.

Enough variety that you never get bored, fail. social experience, fail. the character race determines how you evolve over time, fail. you see someone with a weapon and know where they came from and what they went through to get there, fail drops are random so you know how lucky they got to get it. 2:02 a window that is not in the game. 2:45 a player drops in at a place and a time they is not possible, match making HA. icons over enemy heads that would be really cool if it was in the game, different HUD 4:00 getting loot is exiting, fail. what happen to this game in a year to make it so much less than what was promised in this video?

Because the only thing that really is 'fundamentally flawed' at this point is the story and even that may not be as flawed as people think it is because we have absolutely no idea what the dlc will bring in terms of story and what story (if any) will be added free of charge. Everything else is made really well. The gunplay is great and the class systems work really well too, granted they are still bit unbalanced but the game has only been out for like 3 weeks. I know a lot of people have been complaining about the loot system and while I do think it needs improvement it is in no way 'fundamentally flawed,' it just needs to be tweaked. If I'm missing something blatantly obvious please enlighten me.
Ryan Archuleta again somebody please point out to me these "lackluster" qualities that destiny has. seriously enlighten because only sort of argument ive seen from die hard halo fans is: 'It's not the same as Halo therefore its bad' or some rephrasing of the same general concept. I'm not saying that Destiny is the best game ever made (even though it definitely has the potential to do so) But its leagues beyond halo in terms of gameplay, the music is better (granted they both have great soundtracks but i absolutely love Destiny's soundtrack whereas Halo's has always just been nice, but that may be more of just a personal preference), and even the story has the potential to be thousands of times better than halo. Don't get me wrong I've always loved the Bungie-made Halo games, but it sounds like your argument sare more nostalgic than justified.

By allowing everyone to be in the same "phase" it would have been dope as opposed to the social limitation imposed on us now. Look at DCUO. Walk in the Watchtower and I'm constantly bumping into people, I love that. In Destiny I'd feel blessed to see maybe 3 people on an entire planet.
It’s amazing all that Bungie went through to create all these options for gameplay in Destiny 1, and have about many of the things that people did frequently being taken away in Destiny 2 (Various Crucible and Vanguard options, Consistent monthly Iron Banner, Etc.)

So you're telling me that if you were brought back to life, probably years upon years after you originally died, and the thing that revived you told you that you were in immediate danger and you heard strange noises from potentially hostile creatures nearby, you would immediately question being brought back to life? cause me, i would listen to this thing, that ive just found it is called a ghost, that revived me and get to safety first. And then when i found out humanity was almost extinct, was living in one city, and was in constant danger of being wiped out completely, i would probably throw the entire "being brought back to life" buisness out the window for the time being and worry about trying to save the last of the human race.
and yes a game is written before scenes are made, but im assuming that throughout the entire 3-4 years the story and cutscenes werent their ONLY priority. actually these two pieces probably made up less than one years worth of work, considering making a functioning game is usually more important than a game with good story, just take a look at the entire call of duty franchise and a lot of their stories revolve around real world events and look how their stories turnout.
***** While I agree that Destiny's story was lacking, my entire comment was posted to counteract the stupidity of Ryan's comment. I only looked into the semantics behind the terminology in order to show Ryan how unjustified his complaints where in the context that he used. Destiny does have a very thin story with not much plot and I'm hoping that they fix that through updates and DLC by adding more story missions that actually fill this story as well as it could've been. My point here is this: Destiny does have a lacking story but that is the only real argument I've seen from anyone. This doesn't mean that every single choice the developers made is a terrible one.
I'm hoping that the story turns out to be one like in the reddit post that i linked in my previous comment. But I'm sick and tired of hearing everyone complain about every aspect of the game when it really only has the one major flaw: the story.
Considering it's supposed to be a 10 year saga, it needs a good story. The mission structure was so bland. You basically started at the same spot, hopped on a sparrow. Lined up your ironsights on enemies, pulled the trigger, they died, cycle continued, Dinklebot scanns a computer terminal for 5 minutes, you kill more enemies, ghost tells you that your objective is complete, you wait 30 seconds, mission ends, start new mission, do the same thing, 30 more times over the course of 10 hours, game ends. In Halo, at least theres strategy involved. In Halo 3 when you killed a brute, the grunts would cower in fear. So in legendary you used that tactic. You could also charge a plasma pistol, then finish with a head shot. You could shoot a jackal in the arm, so it lowers it's shield. In Destiny, YOU JUST AIM AND SHOOT. I don't want to spend $60 on a game that has potential. I want the $60 game to be good from the start. When you have to depend on saying that Bungie will do better next time, and that the DLC ( COSTS EVEN MORE MONEY) will improve the game, you are clearly a stupid individual. Now it's your turn to write me a novel of your defense on Destiny. You were going to do it anyway.

I love looking back on these comments and seeing how far the game has come. I was pretty upset over the cut content when I was told of it, but now I kinda think that destiny is better than it would have been if we got the original story. What would happen once that cut campaign was completed? What would dlc be like? It would be hollow, because we would of gotten the best from the start and be let down when it couldn't recapture those moments.

You know, it's fascinating. This trailer does show by how far Bungie missed the mark they set for themselves with vanilla Destiny, but if you look at the incremental improvements of the game since then, they've been slowly crawling closer and closer to that ideal. Weapons that you the player can look at and say "I know what the wielder had to go through to get that," multiple activities to choose from to reach the end-game, the ability to go to Saturn...
Maybe, just maybe, by the end of the franchise's projected 10-year cycle, we might just play the game Bungie originally intended.
MAN FUCK ACTIVISION. I love the Destiny we have now but watching these trailers, wow, this is an entirely different game.
i was so fucking emotionally invested in this game up until launch. all the trailers and vidocs told us things that never saw the light of day in the retail version. loot chests, tons of different planets, a great story, player interaction, and a dynamic open-world. the first mission in the retail version looks much more cinematic than the rest of the game. multiplayer looks different too. no game was ever going to top Destiny and it's ambition. i have two questions that i need answered if i'm ever going to have peace in my life again.
1. what happened?
2. will the original idea of Destiny ever form into a full game?

Destiny really hit the nail on the head with the environment and art design; actually, everything in this ViDoc really shows Bungie's strengths, from Guardian design, to the social aspect, to the smooth gunplay; after all these years we're still going strong haha

Enough variety that you never get bored, fail. social experience, fail. the character race determines how you evolve over time, fail. you see someone with a weapon and know where they came from and what they went through to get there, fail drops are random so you know how lucky they got to get it. 2:02 a window that is not in the game. 2:45 a player drops in at a place and a time they is not possible, match making HA. icons over enemy heads that would be really cool if it was in the game, different HUD 4:00 getting loot is exiting, fail. what happen to this game in a year to make it so much less than what was promised in this video?

All I have to say on this, is now the game is out and people are realising how fundamentally flawed it is, there'd better be a lot of fucking free DLC coming in the future.

Because the only thing that really is 'fundamentally flawed' at this point is the story and even that may not be as flawed as people think it is because we have absolutely no idea what the dlc will bring in terms of story and what story (if any) will be added free of charge. Everything else is made really well. The gunplay is great and the class systems work really well too, granted they are still bit unbalanced but the game has only been out for like 3 weeks. I know a lot of people have been complaining about the loot system and while I do think it needs improvement it is in no way 'fundamentally flawed,' it just needs to be tweaked.
If I'm missing something blatantly obvious please enlighten me.

Ryan Archuleta again somebody please point out to me these "lackluster" qualities that destiny has. seriously enlighten because only sort of argument ive seen from die hard halo fans is: 'It's not the same as Halo therefore its bad' or some rephrasing of the same general concept.
I'm not saying that Destiny is the best game ever made (even though it definitely has the potential to do so)
But its leagues beyond halo in terms of gameplay, the music is better (granted they both have great soundtracks but i absolutely love Destiny's soundtrack whereas Halo's has always just been nice, but that may be more of just a personal preference), and even the story has the potential to be thousands of times better than halo.
Don't get me wrong I've always loved the Bungie-made Halo games, but it sounds like your argument sare more nostalgic than justified.

By allowing everyone to be in the same "phase" it would have been dope as opposed to the social limitation imposed on us now. Look at DCUO. Walk in the Watchtower and I'm constantly bumping into people, I love that. In Destiny I'd feel blessed to see maybe 3 people on an entire planet.
It’s amazing all that Bungie went through to create all these options for gameplay in Destiny 1, and have about many of the things that people did frequently being taken away in Destiny 2 (Various Crucible and Vanguard options, Consistent monthly Iron Banner, Etc.)
