    If given in measured amounts, garlic is safe for your dog, and this has been shown in veterinary practice with thousands of animals. Please read Dr Susan Wynn's reference text and the section on garlic for dogs and cats here:

    Dr. Jones, My name is Jodie and I've come on to specifically thank you for saving my dogs' life. He had a huge abscess on the side of his neck and we had no money to take him to the vet. Because of your advice, we used the turmeric and essential fatty acid ( sprouted chia seed) for the last 2 weeks. The abscess has shrunk considerably, nearly disappearing. I'm so grateful to you and your holistic advice and will be a forever fan of your channel. Thank you, thank you, thank you for helping me to help my Bojingles.

    This is an excellent natural remedy for people too. My recipe calls for letting the mixture sit for two weeks to twenty days on your counter. Shake your closed glass container everyday and open container to let out air. After two weeks or twenty days put it in your refrigerator. You can eat a spoonful daily if you like. I used this when my son and I had strep throat years ago. It works really well for quite a few ailments. Another recipe I used on myself was to take a spoonful of the garlic honey mixture and add a sprinkle of ginger, cayenne pepper, cinnamon, and a few drops of lemon juice. Works super well for relief of a sore throat. I'm not a doctor, but these worked for me.

    Hi Dr.
    My 11 years sold Shih Tzu has lost his appetite for the last couple of weeks. He drinks lots of water and he seems very hyper, he has been acting little different lately, very restless and the only thing he eats is chicken and beef bones, but only the bone. He won’t eat the meat. He is happy and playful but at night he was waking me up several time to go to the patio. He has lost more than 2 pounds. The vet ordered labs and they called me every thing was normal. My schedule at work has changed and now I work some nights. Also we adopted two little cats and they got reunited with the dogs for 3 weeks now.
    Thank you so much for your help.

    Hi Dr. Jones! I deal with wounds on what seems to be a regular basis. Raw, unpasteurized honey is my go-to for severe flesh wounds and any wounds that can't easily be bandaged. I had a chicken with a bite wound so large and deep that her lung tissue was exposed! Raw honey drizzled into the hole twice a day and turmeric in her feed - one week later, she was good as new! I'm currently treating a chicken with badly torn skin and exposed muscle and the wound is shrinking considerably each day.
    For wounds that can be bandaged or wounds that are bleeding profusely, I apply crushed yarrow. Mostly I use the yarrow on myself (clumsy with knives) and it not only stems the flow of blood but it also prevents infection and speeds healing! Yarrow is a "weed" that grows throughout NA and can be found in almost any back yard; civil war surgeons used it as wound-packing material, for good reason. An alternative for yarrow is plantain if you just need the antibacterial action.
    In your video, you said ANY honey will do; I thought pasteurized honey (the bulk of what is on the grocery store shelves) was not effective, due to the pasteurization killing off the beneficial microbes? I have never tried it since I always buy the good stuff ;)

    Doctor, my fur baby LOVES this! I made a large concoction using Australian Jarrah honey, but I would like to use Manuka honey if I can. We live out in the bush, so it is a fair drive in order to source this.
    Henry had an infection on his bottom but since following your instructions, he is now on the mend. He is a Great Dane, Bull Arab cross and he, along with my other fur babies, is generally healthy.
    In addition to your wonderful, home made remedy, I dissolved an aspirin into some black tea which ai steeped for 20 minutes, with one aspirin that I later dissolved into it. I applied the mixture while still very warm, to Henry's bottom. I have done these compresses a few times over the past 48 hours, and Henry's bottom has really settled down again.
    Henry does not like garlic but he had no trouble consuming your natural remedy! I was also mindful to ensure that he had the correct dose for his collosal body weight!
    Thank you for all your help.

    Dear Doc, thank you for reaffirming garlic as a useful treatment for various minor ailments in dogs. I used to use garlic in our food all the time, and I’d also put in our first dog’s food (rescue dog who lived to 15.5 years, and we got her when she was 3 months of age); of course, she also ate table scraps. After she was sent over the rainbow bridge, I learned that dogs shouldn’t have garlic, so our subsequent dogs have not been given garlic, or used it for any topical applications, as I would also have utilised. I surely wasn’t going to risk giving our Dobermann any garlic... that’s one expensive dog to accidentally kill! Provided she only receives a minimal amount, orally, I can now start eating garlic again. Yay!!!
    As for other natural antibiotics that should have no ill effects on our precious pooches, I have been cooking for my baby since bringing her home (canned food is available in the pantry, just in case I don’t have one more container of her food in the freezer). She’s only just over 3 years, now, but about 18 months ago she developed a winter allergy (papules, pustules and alopecia). To have the allergen identified and treated was not only going to be very costly, it would have been a terrifying ordeal for her. So I did some research and opted for oral medication (as necessary) and added some key herbs and spices to her food, and came up with a way of cleaning a large, powerful and wilful dog who does not like baths. However, she needed to be kept clean and her skin condition not be allowed to become infected (as some did, extremely minimally).
    As for natural, consumable antibiotics, right up there with garlic are both thyme and sage. Interestingly, the taxonomic name for thyme is Thymus vulgaris. As a vet, I’m sure that the first part of the official name for thyme relates back to part of the lymphatic system, i.e. the thymus (I presume dogs have them as well as humans). On the spice side of things, all spices used in curry have anti-inflammatory properties which I believe also contributes to knocking bacteria on the head. Black pepper is vital when using curry spices as it is the catalyst for the magical healing properties of everything else. I also started adding honey and apple cider vinegar to her food, thus adjusting the pH of her food... and improving her gut flora and stimulating her own immune system.
    As for topical application, a brew can be made from almost any herb one keeps in the pantry or grows at home, including the standard “parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme”. More traditionally floral plants such as lavender, eucalyptus, ti-tree (I’m an Aussie, and this plant is native to Australia) and aloe vera are also great to throw in the mix. Boil it up and let it cool down. This can be added to a shallow bath, if your dog will get into a bathtub. But, since my Princess won’t do the bath thing, I’ve found that using that brew applied on a wetted brush (excess liquid shaken off) and giving a gentle and loving grooming works well, rinsing the brush and re-applying the brew frequently. If you don’t have all those things on hand, or don’t have the time or inclination to go to such lengths, the short and sweet way of the wet grooming method is to put warm water in a bucket/sink/bowl etc. with bicarbonate soda in it, and use in the same way. Not only will you physically remove dead hair and skin cells, you remove dirt and grime... as well as bacteria, fungus and other causes of infection. What is not removed via the brush is more of less killed off, as there is too much sodium in the water for microscopic, noxious things to survive, by the time you’ve finished. You can do the grooming in small patches, thoroughly going over the area before drying that area with a hand towel (if you have a short-haired dog, like I do) before moving to the next area.
    Of course, if you live close to a large body of salt water, that’s a winner right there. My precious pup won’t swim, but I can get her into the water up to her armpits, then I casually scoop a few handsful of water over her and give it a quick rub. Should your dog have dry skin, I wouldn’t recommend sea water too often, unless you follow it up (at home) with a bit of oil being rubbing in... the two oils that I most frequently use (if I need to) are either olive oil or liquid coconut oil. Use in very small quantities, lest your house start to smell like a fish and chip shop or, in the case of using warm coconut oil, smelling of popcorn... not such bad things to smell, but no fun to try and clean off your carpets and furniture 😜🤣👍🏻❤️

      @@VeterinarySecrets, if there are any contradictions to oral or topical application, essential oils of the previously mentioned herbs/spices can be safely administered via the use of an oil burner. The lungs are a perfect semi-permeable membrane through which the active agents can pass through, the dose is milder than the other methods of administration, and the infused fumes also help kill germs in the home environment. But always make sure that you top the fluids up, and never leave a burning candle unattended ❤️

      @@lindajohnson9282 hi Linda… wonderful information thank you! My 9lb Yorkiepoo has the beginning of a collapsing trachea. He also has a wet cough at night, and he’s especially worse first thing in the morning.
      I have some organic oregano oil that isn’t meant for ingesting, I’m glad to hear diffusing it will all work.

    • @lindajohnson9282
      @lindajohnson9282 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dawnavandernoot2869, if it’s in a spot like the throat/neck (as in your baby’s case) you can apply a therapeutic oil (not to be ingested) on the skin. The active ingredients will be absorbed through the skin and, in the instance of application on the throat, essential oils will also be warmed up and inhaled, providing a two-pronged attack on the pathogen(s). It’s obviously going to be a milder treatment that won’t show results as quickly as pharmaceuticals, but it’s less harmful/more beneficial to one’s fur-baby (and they generally love the little massage that goes with it) 😉❤️

    Thank you , I love home remedies. I always go that route 1st . I give my dogs garlic powder in their water 1 month. They a are big dogs about pippy size. It helps keep their fur looking good , it helps keep the fleas off to some not a lot. I use honey for about everything on us. But not the dogs. So I want to say thank you for this wonderful video , my dog has a cut on the small toe just where you applied on pippy. It has infection in it even after the antibiotics, so not so bad . I wrap it cause he wants to go outside and gets dirt in it. He only kicks it when it hurts. Bedadine is what I have been using and it doesn't seem to work. So wish me luck send zero up some prayers. I hope he doesn't chew his foot off cause my dogs are definitely not vampires they love garlic 😂 even with their dandelions in the spring.

    My neighbour who owns an American akita has just been bled of GBP 500 by the vets, treating symptoms with no diagnosis for. Given a prescription of antibiotics + other stuff (3 months supply). The akita was unwell and off his food. He simply bounced back and now running. Either whatever he was taking was so effective or he simply recovered! All he needed was probably some lovely crushed up garlic 🤭 Thanks Dr. Jones, you have all my respect for what you are doing. May the good Lord bless you and keep you, always ❣️

    Hmm 🤔 bit of a problem here .. every article that I’ve read online says that garlic and onions are absolutely toxic for dogs to consume 😮
    I give my little dog Manuka honey to prolong the time for his need for monthly antibiotics . He gets a bad snorty back of the nose and throat infection every month . But I’d never ever give him garlic

    Dogs and snow! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Fun time! Now that Spring really does seem to be approaching, the snow is much more tolerable. The dogs will miss it when it's gone, but will I? Mine just came in, wet and slopping, going for the food bowl, then schlurping up the water, to be followed by a long nap in front of the fire. Life is good. Thanks for this Natural recipe, Dr Jones!

    From my experience absolutely imperative to have raw honey that hasn't been heat treated or else the sugars in the honey just end up feeding the bacteria but if you get a good raw honey that hasn't been heat treated over 115 degrees or so and you're going to have all the benefits because I tried some honey on a cut on a wound and it just got more infected but then when I had the local honey it worksrts so quickly. Ps Walmart absolutely does not have legitimate raw honey in my experience I bought a few rounds of different things from Walmart that said raw and they don't work topically on what I was treating which was an ongoing skin rash but the raw honey and in particular the manuka honey worked fabulously

    • @talesfromtheleashbernieamy1960
      @talesfromtheleashbernieamy1960 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      if it's a wound or bite, you chew it a little bit , then apply to wound and wrap with gauze tape. if ur dog is eating grass, then pick the plantain and feed a few of the leaves to them instead. for humans u do the same things with wounds (like diabetic wounds) or for boils and spider bites(even brown recluse and black widow bites( again cover with a gauze and wrap it overnight. u can also boil it in water and drink it as a tea for any GI issues.
