Dagan Gera is so badass. The dude was kept in that bacta tank for so long, he awoke and had to get used to walking again, and then just minutes later bled his kyber crystal and then beat Cal with one arm. Bro woke up and chose violence.
He didn’t beat Cal the duel was a draw/stalemate. Cal and Dagan are equally matched and even Rayvis says this

What’s more terrifying is that it took Vader considerable focus to make his kyber crystal bleed. This guy did it with significantly more ease
@@Orcaluv26 might be because Dagan is bleeding his own crystal rather than someone else’s. Could be easier to bend your personal crystal to your will than another jedi’s crystal.

What I find interesting about Dagan is that he removed and bled his crystal like it was nothing which is honestly crazy to think about considering how much Vader himself struggled to do it. Also his ability to basically use his lightsaber as if his arm was still there is incredible
I think it goes to show how much hate he accumulated over the years being stuck inside the Bacta tank. You can hear it in his voice when he talks about how the Jedi council abandoned tannalore.
The jedi in the high Republic era where on a different level then the jedi we know they where on level with yoda or more yell the jedi masters where just as Terrifying as the sith sometimes. He'll a whole group of jedi masters killed there Apprentices an Several younglings couldn't they thought that they would turn to the dark side no some did after the betrayal and attack from their masters
This is also the first time we've seen it happen on screen.
@@masonbigboi1822 true. He literally had a couple hundred years to sit and soak in his own hatred. He was a time bomb ready to explode, and given that (while I really don’t know yet, I’ve only just made it to the third planet) he was pretty devoted to the Jedi order, it doesn’t seem like he had any attachment holding him back from the dark side. Anakin still had love for padme and obi wan so it was a much more difficult switch for him.

Yeah same with the old republic from legends, it's like all the teachings and power slowly disappeared. Like an old republic jedi or sith could crush a high republic jedi/sith. Same with how a current jedi can't compete with the high republic jedi.

@@nandotnt5678 Each side kept on wiping the other out almost completely, leaving only stragglers and survivors to rebuild from half-forgotten texts, old relics, lost holocrons. The Great Hyperspace War was probably the height of power for both orders, and it's just been a steady decline from there.

The Didact is not quite the same at all. In addition to the betrayal, his entire appearance in Halo 4 is due to the Gravemind's Logic Plague.
The same thing Cortana was affected with in Halo 5. She got it while being in High Charity between Halo 2 and Halo 3.

The Didact is more like Zod from Man Of Steel. Both wanted their civilization to survive but took drastic measures to pursue it and ended being imprisoned.

I’ve wondered what the Jedi of the high republic would think of the Jedi of the prequels, allowing a Sith Lord to take over the entire galaxy in their ignorance. Dagan Gera turned to the dark side after losing everything he loved, you can sympathize with this character. Disney should really start taking notes here.
Technically this is under Disney' leadership. They just have horrible villains in live action
But this is a Disney character man, the high republic is full of characters well written like this.

Seeing a serious Cal makes me want to see a live action portrayal of the character by Cameron i didint think he could pull it off but with the seriousness of Cal in Jedi Survivor he looks very heroic and we now know he is a very formidable opponent now

It’s ironic how Vader himself struggled to bleed his kyber crystal, but with Dagan not having issues putting his hatred through it even though for hundreds of years, imprisoned in a bacta tank, and Cal watching as it turns from a peaceful yellow to a hatred red.
Vader took it from a Jedi Master. Dagan used his own. Was probably easier for the latter

I had my Kal with clone trooper legs and a tactical vest so he really looked like a lone warrior wondering the galaxy, I loved how much it contrasted with the high republic and their fancy robes
Tanallor sounds an awful lot like Tanelorn from the Elric books. This character also has an albinism to him not dissimilar to that of Elric of Melnibone. Not making a claim here, and I’m sure there’s more in common between them, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s based off of him. Just an observation.

Bruh Dagans saber is red. Why am I hearing all about this orange-red. It’s stupid. The 2 people in Ashoka is orange I get that but Dagan’s is red. It’s just the games lighting. Even vaders saber has a tinge of orange. I just think they fixed the pinkish look to the red that we are so used to. But it doesn’t mean that it’s orange-red. Like it’s either orange or red. There’s no such thing as orange-red
Also I just fought him again in the New Story+ which allows you to wield a red saber. So I equipped the red saber to see in the cutscene if both of ours matched and they looked identical so it’s safe to say it’s just how they wanted the red to look

You're already have the entirety of Project Luminous, and the upcoming Young Jedi Adventures, The Acolyte. Eclipse is also supposed to be set during THR but it isn't coming out anytime soon.

Did the pacing in this scene feel a bit... rushed to anyone else? And what was with Cal's blank expression? The emotion on his face up to this point was incredible, but it feels so stilted and wooden here. I hope things get back up to their usual quality soon.

You know, always did suspect that wasn't actually bacta in that tank. I mean, not that we know much about his species and how long they live but in the game cal even puts emphasis that he was "preserved in bacta." I think it's water from Tanalorr. I'm thinking they're setting 3 up for a time skip to get cal into post "a new hope" territory without having him age.

Dagan is strong no questions asked but I would like to have seen and Old Republic era Jedi, because they were in battle with the Sith very often
My question is why is Disney/Lucasfilm so afraid of making at story like this for live action. This story had absolutely everything you’d want to see in Star Wars. Instead we got boring snoozefests like Kenobi and 2 good episodes of the Mandalorian a year. Even boba fett- a character I believed would be impossible to screw up, they managed to destroy that show as well.
Main reason, not many casual just movie Starwars fans have read any books, so a lot of this deep meaningful stuff written they would not get, so they would have to do a ton of backstory on things. I mean most movie fans would love this stuff, but with how movies are done so much would be cut and the lore and backstories would become lost or cluttered.
Hollywoke are doing feministm agenda and purge all male legacy today.
They can't make series with strong male character without giving woke agenda in script.

@@rochin76123 When you start a new trilogy with new characters, you're always forced to give the audience a backstory to get the audience invested. Incompetence and a lack of imagination are the real reasons why we didn't get good characters and a good stories in live action.

With Dagen it had literally no resistance
That was just one instance with Vader though. And plus that comics entire focus was on the bleeding of the crystal. Vader is a very complex and conflicted character so that interpretation made sense for him. Dagan bleeding his crystal wasn’t the focus of this scene. But the essence was still the same. Vader remembered all the painful shiit he experienced when he bled his crystal and Dagan did the same. He reccounted how the Jedi betrayed him and abandoned tanalorr. We also learn more about Dagan later but he still did pour his anger into it

Ive gotten to this point im watching this mainly because when he ignites his sabre its yellow and mine is yellow so i wonderd if his colour before red is the same as cals but its not still cool that i had the same colour as him
