I just had a look on Glassdoor "NHS Doctor Salaries in London Area". Total pay average £52,000. I nearly spat out my coffee!! That is so bad... I work in IT and earn more than that. I didn't need to go uni, take out a loan, am not responsible for people's lives, am not putting my own life at risk, I don't work shifts, I don't work more than 8 hours a day, I rarely work weekends, I didn't need to study as much, I can work from home most of the time. I take my hat off to anyone working in the NHS, when they could literally go be a lorry driver or something and not take a pay cut. It baffles me that they stay in the field. They are probably just good people who are giving back to society, rather than just doing a job. I don't know. Anyway, I worry about the future of NHS and the country as a whole.
The amount of money wastage on private contractors or training overseas doctors and nurses.and other things like viruses and diseases cures for overseas people and low skilled people coming to the uk for treatment is wasting billion that could be give to nhs workers that why the nhs staff get crap pay and also the likes of spending 50 million on diversity departments in two years.and other countries don't let people for uk get treatment for free so why does the uk let the world get for free. Take for example a man from Pakistan came to uk for a liver transplant and the nhs found out his body was destroying the new liver implants and went on to have 4 that's 4 uk people push aside for him. he left without paying a penny the total bill with him have the treatment and living in the hospital for over a year was over 130k and a woman from uk went to Thailand and was hit by a car whos drive was high on drugs.spent over two months in a Thailand hospital with a broken back.before she was able to leave she was told to settle the bill it cost 40k and a extra 10k to fly her back to uk.
Thanks for sharing Tash, it’s such an important message! I start my midwifery course in September and as much as I can’t wait I think the future of working in the NHS is a scary one
I’m sorry it seems so negative but it’s important to share the truths - of course there are so many amazing parts of working in healthcare too! Good luck starting!
You have the prestige that comes with being a doctor-that’s your compensation. I chose investment banking, where I make £150K a year, three times what a doctor earns. Yet, people have no idea how hard it is to become a banker; they still think we’re just tellers. It’s a choice: either you get prestige with a lower salary or less prestige with decent pay.
thanks Tash, this is Edgar from Uganda. im a 2nd year medical student and guess what burn out is a daily encounter for most of us, now what is more diappointing than finding out that the people you are fighting to become are actually also facing challenges. so when will peace prevail in a medical practitioner`s life😔😔😔 its too much to sacrifice 4 people who dont care
I’m starting Med school in September and can’t even get funding for my tuition fee loan so will be working alongside my studies as a HCA. I will be financially struggling and overworked before I even become a FY1 doctor, but sounds like it’s something I need to get used to for the foreseeable anyway 😔
No, I’m a mature student and had completed a degree level qualification 20+ years ago, although not a degree with honours so not able to apply for grad med. It’s really frustrating as this was funded by my employer at the time and not SFE but they still won’t fund me as it’s an equivalent level ☹️ I have a WP background, so I didn’t think Uni was an option for me when I left school. It’s taken this long to build the confidence to believe in myself xx
Unless NHS staff take the heavy route (morally contentious) of refusing to treat and bringing most health services to a standstill, I am afraid the government will not give a damn. The media will find some way to vilify doctors to the public too. I highly recommend people planning to become a doctor seriously consider if the NHS is where they want to go. Other countries pay triple. You have one life, don’t waste it on a British public that acts like they own you after a bunch of claps.
Yea I think if you got the degree go work for private doctors atleast your life will be better in fact this probably makes many private doctors happy because if the NHS don't give a shit then private care will definitely take the staff away from them
I am a junior doctor from Bangladesh. I left being a doctor and changed my career because I was under paid, over worked, under respected and under valued. I have burnt out actually. After changing my career I am happier and earn way more than I could ever earn in my entire life. #chosenottobeadoctor
Normal doctors are the same so are they corrupt perhaps the one that's leaving can answer that one , your lucky by the way because the British couldn't get an appointment with there doctor and still can't hence having to go to ae so perhaps a gp can answer that one
I’m so sorry. It’s such a bad time for all of us at every stage. Hopefully things will change this year with strikes looking likely to happen at the end of this year!

NHS is not going to last much longer.

I’m sorry to hear this! I’m assuming you’re doing grad med?

The BMA will ballot Junior Doctors at the end of September for industrial action so it seems strikes are likely!
Hi. Which countries are paying more please?
@@ghadasaidani6111 about 5 of the 195 countries in the world - 189 pay less.

@@jonathanoxlade4252 Fine just as long as they pay back the cost of their taxpayer funded training.

Which career have you changed to, from the medical profession?
Do any of the NHS lie about health problems?,I'm really anxious
And the gmc is not allowing certain Ukrainian universities
I have so many problems with my body and the NHS are telling me I am fine anyone else think they are corrupt?
Yes is the short answer.

Maybe that's why we so called British are ungrateful then ,we've paid all our working lives for our health care and haven't gotten it
Privatisation is the ONLY hope for the future!
That’s what the tories want you to think
The number of doctors who actually leave is about the same as it always has been.
LOL AUSTRALIA SO LUCKY TO HAVE CHINESE MONEY
Here revising for the UCAT and it looks like I ain't got anything to look forward to 🥲
