What she didn't do, but I've done on other earthquake cakes, is swirl the cream cheese mixture in wide sweeps in an S-shaped motion side to side down the length of the pan. Typically about 1 c. chips, white, milk or dark chocolate are dropped strategically over the top. With yellow cake, I'd probably use white chocolate. The chops add a different texture and density that accentuates the irregular surface of the cake.
@@TruthAboveAll08 I was planning on stopping at the grocery store tomorrow afternoon after work to pickup the supplies to make this. Do you add the chips before you bake it or when it’s fresh hot from the oven? And I was thinking about spreading the cream cheese mixture over the top also otherwise it seems like the spots between the clumps wouldn’t get any.
@Idontwant1 I spread the chips over the top. They kinda sink in during the backing, making dents in places. I'm not sure how it will work with the strawberries, but I'm going to give it a try. The cream cheese mixture, I use roughly tablespoon blobs and try to space them over the cake (before the chips) then use a baking spatula and cut thru them in S motions. If they bleed it goes through the cake? I don't see a problem
