    Great video 🤓!!! Last year in February 2023, I acquired my new 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 which has the 4L NA flat six cylinder engine (same unit as a GT4) and a PDK gearbox. Power output (394 bhp) and torque (317 lb-ft) are a nice match to this car's sensible curb weight (~3200 lbs). The color is Gentian Blue metallic with a black/chalk all-leather interior and silver wheel rims. It's definitely an entertaining driver's car!
    So far, I've only done 627 miles but hopefully a lot more this coming Fall! The PDK is also a lot of fun (it's definitely quick) 🤓
    All the best and thanks again from Colorado!

    Great review, I absolutely love my 23’ GTS 4.0 Cayman mid engine platform, flat 6 in Manual. It ticks all the boxes for me. Perfect mix of a great daily/ touring that can rage at the Track. The GTS 4.0 is all the car99% of the people out there will ever need. Excellent video my friend, job well done, I subscribed for more .

    The car definitely makes you an instant hero. I saved for years to get my 2022 Cayman GTS and stepped from a 2000 Civic si I bought in 1999. It gives you a bit of oversteer but easily correctable the car wants to hook up all the time. And the sound my god!

    I recently visit the Atlanta Georgia Porsche Experience Center . You can rent any model ( I went with the Cayman GTS PDK) and I was impressed. With an instructor you get to drive on their track, wet skid pad, slalom course etc. I was most impressed with the handling and the durability of Porsche!! They drive these cars hard daily with little more than brakes and tires. Definitely a everyday driver 👍🏼

    I have Boxster GTS 4.0 manual and it's by far the best car I've ever owned, it's brilliant and puts s mile on my face every time I drive it and can't wait for the summer weather. One small gripe though, the gearing is too long, if it was shorter it would be 10/10 car, as it is, it's 9.5/10.

    • @TimWilliamsHD
      @TimWilliamsHD  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes agreed gets quite busy gearbox wise on the road as I noticed

    • @m5pilot397
      @m5pilot397 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      For what it’s worth you can now get a set of shorter 2-3-4-5 gears for these. Not cheap, though. Maybe 10,000 GBP including the (large amount of) labor.

    Absolutely right about picking this over a Lambo/Ferrari. The car is that good and makes Tim feel that way, and it’s not even a full blown 911 😅

      I have driven 911s for decades. I bought the 718 GTS 4.0 in 2021 and it is simply better than any Porsche I have ever driven.

    • @glucia2223
      @glucia2223 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@mymercuriusI cross shopped a 718 GTS 4.0 with a 992 S/GTS. Thought I was going 911 all the way…..until I stepped into the 718. The 992 is awesome. But it’s a touring car. The GTS 4.0 is the full sport experience and the 992 didn’t hold a candle to its visceral feel. Maybe in 10 years when I’m in my 50s, I’ll get a 911. But man do I love my GTS 4.0.

    • @m5pilot397
      @m5pilot397 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nailed it. Two different cars, with the larger and heavier 911 now being a Touring car, while this is a full-on (mid-engined) sports car.

      @TimWilliamsHD  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Couldn't agree more! I drove the gt4 last year and that felt very similar in terms of pushing on balance on the road, I did feel the GTS was better suited as a daily 100%

    Glad you took the gloves off. Gloves were for racing in the early days, open cockpit, large wood steering wheel. They offer grip and hand protection in inclement weather. Modern cars with small, power assisted leather wheels, and interior climate control, do not require gloves, and people look more than silly wearing them.

    Hey nice vid, caught this from seeing you on Instagram. Could you comment anything about the carbon fiber trim on the interior (on the door panels, under the dash, center console)? Did it make the cabin seem too dark or did it make it feel more premium at all?

    • @TimWilliamsHD
      @TimWilliamsHD  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey mate, thanks for coming through! In regards to the carbon fibre, it wasn’t over the top if you get what I mean so I didn’t particularly notice it being there until I needed to use a cup holder? The interior is dark but that’s due to the racetek alcantara headlining etc. however at not one point did I feel cramped or that the car was small due to the darkness…

    • @chrisharris4223
      @chrisharris4223 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Personally I think the GTS interior pack (which adds some carbon trim plus colour stitching and more alcantara) is a must in the GTS. The interior when you add that is a really nice place

      What car is the equivalent to this, but costs less? Nothing.
      Purchase price is only one aspect of owning a car. A used one of these is selling at or above MSRP, typically. Zero depreciation, bro. And since this is the end of the 718, and will be replaced by an electric version, coupled with the fact that this is the best sports car available on Planet Earth for under $100K (USD), it’s going to be a modern classic.
      Go drive one, which I’m certain you’ve never done….
