Definitely a fan of 90 - 120 day goal setting. A year is too long a framework. Life happens in 3 to 4 month "chunks" (for example, from Labour Day to the end of the calendar year, which is something even people who aren't parents with kids in school generally relate to; the energy of Q1; the annual rhythm of holidays or business quarters, including tax time). I used the Full Focus Planner from Michael Hyatt & Co for a number of years but more recently switched to a 90 Day System from Heart Breathings, here on TH-cam. I found I needed something more structured than a Bullet Journal and more flexible and customizable than the FFP.
I've had a bullet journal since the beginning of the year, and I use it in a very similar way to define and achieve my goals. putting your goals on paper really helps (sorry for my English, I'm French, and I like your videos!)
Great video! Would love a video on the financial independence - I’m in the same boat and it’s very overwhelming to learn enough to make confident decisions
How much do you need to live on to maintain your lifestyle? Monitor finances. Identify areas to reduce spending. Identify areas to increase income. Reduce debt. Invest in low cost index fund.
Marcus, thanks for sharing your goal setting video. I think we are sometimes bound by our own fear that stops us setting lofty goals. Taking the first step forward is always the key to starting something new the details can always be developed through following a solid process and adopting new habits which help to reduce human procrastination and distraction events.
Marcus, just re-watched this excellent video and ordered my Finisher's Journal. You are inspiring. I started doing morning pages this past week, and it changed my whole outlook on the day. Thank you. (And I'll add my voice to the chorus requesting the financial video.)
I’m glad they’re working for you. Some weeks come easy and others are harder but consistency is key. Working on a finance video this summer. Thanks for being so positive as always.
Hi Marcus- I stumbled upon your channel after getting into journaling more seriously this year (and am also a fountain pen aficionado). I've been enjoying your content, and I just realized today we work for the same company! =) I thought you looked familiar.... lol. Thanks for all the great videos.
Great video Marcus thanks for sharing this. Just ordered the Finisher's Secret journal. I have tried and tried and tried many other ways to do this in the digital world but I'm just too old school I guess, pen and paper with a journal that explains the how and why and keeps it simple. Thanks again!
Please make the finance video! The EDC hobby has really helped me start my personal self management habits. I have pocket journals for personal mental health, I have a leather pocket calendar for work stuff, and I’ve even optimized my iPhone for minimalism and productivity. I feel so much more clean and prepared
Hi Marcus, I really enjoy your videos. Would appreciate seeing a video on ways you manage financial aspects of your life as well as what you are eating (and not eating!) to achieve your health goals. Thanks!
Another great vid marcus, thanks for sharing. Im interested that you concentrate on one goal in a 90 day period, focus makes total sense to me. However we often need to move multiple things forward concurrently. What is your approach to moving forward career/family/finances objectives etc while having a focus on that single area?
I hear comments help with the algorithm also so here is a comment: my husband should be watching this - so I am going to do another thing that helps with the algorithm: share this with him. Good video as usual. Nice the way that journal pulls it together for a person. I think my husband will benefit from this and plan to share this video with him. If I had one example that sponsored videos can be great - this is it. anyway thanks for the hard work....those of us motivated to finding you and your content when we are in need of a motivational boost ourselves, then I think its only fair we do our part to help with the algorithm.... Thanks for the hard work and good aesthetics G
Loving the clips of Limerick sneaking into your videos! Really useful video Marcus, thanks. I started bullet journaling recently and it’s helped me feel like I’m getting on top of what I need to get done. One question I’ve been struggling with is whether to keep work and personal journals separate. Wondering what your thoughts are on that?
Loving folks are recognizing the Limerick BRoll. Are you from there? On the notebooks - I keep them separate but I’m a bit of a control freak. I have a Tomoe River notebook with me for work at all times and keep my personal goal tracking, morning pages, TH-cam stuff all separate.
Ya, Limerick born and bred. Spent a bit of time living in New Zealand but back in Limerick now for about 12 years. I can see the benefit of two notebooks but I have a concern about things falling between two stools. I’ve been keeping a separate notebook for project and meeting notes but keeping all my tasks and schedule in my personal notebook.
Loved the video: intentional, brief and to the point! I was a little bit distracted by white chalky apperance of your hands in the frontal shot, you might want to adjust your lighting a bit, just a thought 🙂
This was so great and well explained! I want to get that journal. Quick question though… how do you manage 160g of protein on less than 2000 cals?? I try my best and even include a scoop of whey but man I’m happy if I break 120!
You have to be pretty focussed and I like variety so it’s different every day. An example might be at 10am after I work out, I have 2 scoops of protein with water (50g | 280cal). I eat 2 tins of tuna for lunch with leafy greens (50g |250cal) and then 8 oz chicken breast or turkey (60g | 400cal) for dinner with veg and a carb.
Ali just released a video in which he cited a source that says SMART goals are actually less helpful than general goals when it comes to long-term success. The issue with SMART goals being that if one falls off track, it may lead to giving up due to the perception of failure to meet targets on schedule. In this way, I think you somewhat contradicted yourself within the first several minutes of the video - if a system is greater than motivation and goals, then why start by setting SMART goals? Why not start with a general goal to build the system?
Thank you for the great motivating video. Would love to see a video about your financial planing. I am a tax consultant with a small firm in Germany and all about finance and stocks in one of my hobbies.
Your missing the point. Its about how to achieve any personal goal within a certain time. Not specifically his goal. He just uses his goal as an example.
omg who doesn't want a good finance video??
Ha. Ok. Coming up soon. Have a couple of other videos first.

Hey -> I like how you frame the that. For me the quarterly cycle is the best wagon to jump on when you're trying to make a change.
I love Heart Breathings!

Your English is great. Glad you love found a system that works for you. ☺️ Allez Les Bleus 🇫🇷
Man, your videos are just so motivating and honest. Thank you so much Marcus!
Wow. What a nice thing to say. Thanks bud. Appreciate you watching and commenting.
Jokes on you, I haven't dropped my New Year's Resolutions... Because I didn't make one ._.
Great video! Would love a video on the financial independence - I’m in the same boat and it’s very overwhelming to learn enough to make confident decisions
Okey dokey. Will add it to the video list. Will take a bit as I have a couple in the pipeline. ☺️
Thanks Marcus, I’m sure a lot of us would find that useful.
How much do you need to live on to maintain your lifestyle?
Monitor finances. Identify areas to reduce spending. Identify areas to increase income. Reduce debt. Invest in low cost index fund.
clicked on this straight away as its something that I really want to work on for myself, great video thank you
Hope you got something from the video.

New to this channel, just wondering why you have always a strap on one of your arms. What is that for?
It's a WHOOP 4.0 fitness tracker :)
@@MarcusCreates Ah! Thank you! It does not look very comfortable, to be honest :D

Does the website have the the PDF files instead of the book?

what's the name of the planner in the video?

Agree
Each to their own, choose what works for you. Ali used to be anti- goals altogether 🤷♀️
I usually set a list of goals that IMMEDIATELY goes off the rails, then I wing it 😅
Personal finance video, yes please! 🙏🏽
Can we get a pdf for the book
I’m not sure. Check out the link. They have a bunch of stuff on their website.
I just parted doing something similar with a standard notebook. Just ordered this journal and excited to have a bit more structure. Thanks!
Hope you like it. It’s a great journal. I think you will. Let me know how it goes.

You looks like older version of ali abdal
Watched through you setting an overly cliche losing weight type goal and it feels like a waste of time video for me. Sorry..
Thanks for your feedback. ☺️
Your missing the point. Its about how to achieve any personal goal within a certain time. Not specifically his goal. He just uses his goal as an example.
If he is achieving the goals he is setting, there is likely to be some merit in his approach.
