Amen! I was just writing a friend that this what the Bible meant by Gabriel's horn. And there's something here for country dudes' twanging some stetsony turbans, atheists wanting cold numbers crunched, romantics in their reverby waltzes. And sustain that alpha's the omega! Don't know if it's the way he recorded it, or his Tele (and fine playing), or what. But this is THE best amp I've ever heard, too. Does anyone know of something that comes close in the modern/re-issue market?
+roscoefoofoo I loved my '59 Bassman LTD reissue.. a little compression would make is sound extremely similar to this. I reckon his camera mic is adding compression as well... the 59 LTD Bassman reissues are fabulous. I'm now rocking a 1967 Bandmaster cause i just had to have 'real vintage.' The reissue bassman was equally awesome
Bandmasters are clean until about volume 5. Since its a 40 watt amp, volume 5 is very loud. But when you crank it, it has the most glorious overdrive sound.
+rmelono i agree. something about the way it chimes has some extra dimension. and that's coming through a youtube video. I can only imagine what it's like in person.
The amp looks like it's been through a fire, but it sounds beautiful - such clear sustain and heavenly harmonics. Totally distinct from those reissues demo'ed all over TH-cam. And the playing was very tasteful. Thanks!
I've had my '59 Bassman RI for 11 years now. Your playing is immaculate and really showcased all that that amp is capable of. Congratulations and thanks for sharing!
Best clean I've heard in a long time. And I like that this amp adds a little bit of bass, power, and chime behind (in my opinion) trebly almost thin sounding Fender amp tones. Wow, I'm blown away.
I have the Bassman I bought in 1971. We were looking for these suckers as early as the mid-sixties. What this doesn't show you is how LOUD they are. These are powerful amps.
That clean! It just rings for days. Such a simple setup, yet it covers such a wide variety of tones. And not just any tones. THE tones. And not to mention, your playing is just fantastic. Very clean and expressive. Thanks for uploading!!
This video is a recording of the greatest sounding amp ever recorded… and the playing is spectacularly good. If someone tabbed this video out I’d pay for it just to learn this….
I personal have a 59 bass man. this amp blows me away every time, it is truly unbelievable. if I had to choose one amp stuck on a desert island, no questions asked the 59 bassman!
please do another demo of this, what amazing tone you got there, just the perfect no bull combination of great amp, great guitar, great player... cant go wrong, dadgad sounds great, also in standard tuning all dropped down a tone through a bassman, just sounds like deep smooth heaven.... great video!
This is how an amp like this should be demo'd. Thank you for playing stuff that actually shows the tone of the amp instead of just aimlessly noodling. 👍
I play guitar since 15 years and i have watched this video so often during the last years, best guitar sound on earth and awesome playing. Still getting goosebumps at 4:28. Anybody knows how to play that stuff? Or is anybody able and motivated to create tabs for the whole video? Cheers to everybody here and congratulations that you have found this masterpiece.
hi Jim … thank you SO much for your beautiful compliments, the truth is, I just did that video to help sell the amp at that time, I had no idea people would be looking at it years later ! I just made some licks up to showcase the amp, which was fantastic, of course… at that time, easily the best guitar amp I had EVER played through. I subsequently got a 1963 Vox AC30 , which was/is just as great, though in a totally different way… thank you so much for your kind thoughts, all the best, mark
Yes, it is one of the greatest losses for mankind that he didn´t aim the camera in such a way we could see how this was played. It makes me irritated once in a while throughout all those years too. (Okey, there are people out there able to recover it by ear, but not me).
@@treatb09 - in this case, it's very important. Just listen to that beautiful chime at the beginning. He's a good player but his fingers didn't achieve that chime.
Can you make a video playing what your play and let us see you play it! Your riffs and playing is some of the best I have heard, I absolutely love them.
The management and manipulation and delivery of audio has improved, but the actual sound quality of systems, guitar amps etc has declined from a peak point around 1960, when everything was still tube-based, and much simpler. In the audio world , simple always sounds better than complex
Un-freakn-believable tone there, mate!!! As noted,no wonder Jim chose to base his amps on this schematic. Beautiful. Just came across this from a thread someone linked to on MLP Forum. You're an Aussie too...Bottoms up !
I played through a Bassman in the 60's with my Airline 2pu fiberglass red guitar and I didnt get it back then. I didn't get the Bassman vibe back then. But I get it now! thanks for the great tone my friend. Good job!
+WillPhippsMedia good if you are miking up or recording but unmiked three piece for example they get lost in the mix thats where your class a marshall with a quadbox pushes a lot of air and gets grunty bottom end better than the fenders
Very few things in this world have improved since. Post-war industry was all shipped overseas. The Mexican labor who probably built this amp in the Fender factory depended on a paycheck to live, but also simultaneously took pride in their work. No corners were cut and it shows.
that amp is Tone Heaven !! I love it ..you can play any style of music through that amp, I have a reissued and it dosent sound anything like this at all lol
Been watching Dumble demos and this sounds so deep and yet very present at the top end never harsh (TH-cam and speakers) or shrilly. No wonder why this very amp inspired all of the great amps that came after it. Only wish I could feel playing it.
Scott allen ...yes there's a reason these amps inspired many to come later, they really sound very, very musical... I have a '63 Vox AC 30 thats sounds just as good, in a very different way, but still totally musical
Every year I come back here to hear this.
me too
Me too lol!

No mic close on the speaker... Badass tone.
Ahah same also
Years later, still the best amp I think I have ever heard in my life.
And there are some truly magical amps available, but this is certainly a benchmark!
Best example of why people call this the Holy Grail of amps. That clean is so sweet. Thanks for sharing.
I always find myself coming back to watch this video, it is truely magical. Fantastic playing as well man!
Here I am again, seening and listen to this amazing playing and amp! Unforgettable!
Those are the only amps that get to go to heaven.

roscoefoofoo The Fender tremolux Eric Clapton doesn't sound that bad...with Celestion speaker !)

Does the band master have some break up or is it a clean amp?
Bandmasters are clean until about volume 5. Since its a 40 watt amp, volume 5 is very loud. But when you crank it, it has the most glorious overdrive sound.
That may be the greatest sounding amp I've ever heard! Real nice playing to show off what the amp can do, too. I always come back to this vid. Thanks
+rmelono i agree. something about the way it chimes has some extra dimension. and that's coming through a youtube video. I can only imagine what it's like in person.

for me, it's one of the most beautiful amp tones. The overtones, are very impressive!!
With that amp and a Tele you pretty much have all of country, blues, jazz and 50 years of Rock & Roll at your fingertips. Amazing.
I've had my '59 Bassman RI for 11 years now. Your playing is immaculate and really showcased all that that amp is capable of. Congratulations and thanks for sharing!
If you put out an album of just noodling on that setup, I'd buy it.
ESPECIALLY since his guitar is in tune! So many aren't!

That tone is made by magic. Only explanation. Great playing as well.
definitely the best guitar amp I've ever heard jesusssssss
Yes, He's my Savior, too ...
Amen, praise him for the gift of music!
Perhaps the best amp Fender ever made. My favorite.
This is the first amp demo video that gave me f**in goosebumps. Wow. That is amazing sound. I will be impressed for a week
and he used the camera mic!
Best clean I've heard in a long time. And I like that this amp adds a little bit of bass, power, and chime behind (in my opinion) trebly almost thin sounding Fender amp tones. Wow, I'm blown away.
That sounds amazing! And great playing!
thank you, I've since sold the amp,
but I was fortunate to have had it for 25 years,
so no regrets
You know you're good if johan says it sounds good!
Of course Johan had to find this one!
This is, without a doubt, the best sounding guitar amp I have heard on TH-cam. I've already been saving money.
I have the Bassman I bought in 1971. We were looking for these suckers as early as the mid-sixties. What this doesn't show you is how LOUD they are. These are powerful amps.
Still the best sounding amp I've heard on you tube. Period. Just gorgeous tones!!!
Wether you believe me or not, I watch this video twice a day, just to hear your great playing! I love it!
Bloody hell! This is the best amp I've ever heard in my life! And great, great playing, too! Incredible sustain, sounds like it will never stop!
That clean! It just rings for days. Such a simple setup, yet it covers such a wide variety of tones. And not just any tones. THE tones. And not to mention, your playing is just fantastic. Very clean and expressive. Thanks for uploading!!
Your playing is genius! Having so much fun listening your tunes,
Cheers!
thank you very much
WOW! Blown away. Love how organic the break up is.
Spectacular! I have listened to this many times. Your playing style is what makes this amp sing!
This video is a recording of the greatest sounding amp ever recorded… and the playing is spectacularly good. If someone tabbed this video out I’d pay for it just to learn this….
wht a mind melting sound.. and incredible licks to go with it you sir have every right to have that amp in your house..
I personal have a 59 bass man. this amp blows me away every time, it is truly unbelievable. if I had to choose one amp stuck on a desert island, no questions asked the 59 bassman!
simply amazing! Your playing compliments this amp perfectly!
wow just an amazing video. an incredible play. I listen to it again and again on my office chair from Belgium. the tone crosses my brain.
Classic simplistic electronic design, amazing speakers, outstanding guitar player
please do another demo of this, what amazing tone you got there, just the perfect no bull combination of great amp, great guitar, great player... cant go wrong, dadgad sounds great, also in standard tuning all dropped down a tone through a bassman, just sounds like deep smooth heaven.... great video!
Oh my god, what a sound, that amp getting older and become more monster! thanks for the video sharing. love this!
Your playing finesse certainly deserves that amp, no doubt. Bravo good sir, bravo.

Best sounding amp I have ever heard
beautiful indeed but go check out millstap and his 60 bassman hendrix sound... tis worth a listen as well for comparison
Seriously, one of my favourite videos on TH-cam full stop. Amazing amazing amp and some really tasty playing. Nice work and thanks for sharing
Love it so touch sensitive and dynamic no effects needed
Not to be repetitive, but you just cannot beat that tone. Simply amazing!
OH MY - you sold that?
I would have sold my soul first.
But.. but ... tone is in the fingers.. isn't it?!
some musicians are never satisfied or the gear isn't that important.
@@treatb09 - in this case, it's very important. Just listen to that beautiful chime at the beginning. He's a good player but his fingers didn't achieve that chime.
@@cgavin1 Thank you. One more urban myth ...
@@cgavin1 good one! I half cringe when someone seriously says this...
looks like someone painted it with shit, sounds like angels
sadly some people actually recover these amps...those people don't deserve them.
Paint ?? That's age, dude.
@@ReneeNme did you skim over the word shit?
Wow that amp naturally growls; I love the tone!
Amazing! Would love to own one someday! So much history in that tone
Can you make a video playing what your play and let us see you play it! Your riffs and playing is some of the best I have heard, I absolutely love them.
This is the coolest style of playing I’ve heard
Put your guitar into Drop D with new strings!!!
Amazing sound. Just got a hand built replica with premium parts. My new favorite amp and I have many amps!
Great playing! That amp sounds amazing!
Since I discovered this video, I can't stop hearing it again & again. Mate, you made me long hardily for a 59...
For Christ's sake!
Such an amazing tone! A friend of mine is building one of these for me. If it sounds 30% of yours I'll be really happy!
amazing, what a sound, thanks alot i've heard what kind of sound a old amp like this can do!!!!!!
Now that's real tone. Excellent.
and let's nor forget the great guitar player you are :)
I love your playing. You derserve an amp like this to do your playing justice
I too have succumbed to being addicted to listening to the incredible character of this amp. It sounds so alive. Oh my!!!
Holy shit! What a tone!

Un-freakn-believable tone there,mate!!!

You're an Aussie too...Bottoms up !
I love vintage things and I'm 18. I'm full of envy right now. That should practically be in a museum.
The nicest sounding amp I have ever heard, great playing, which helps.
Holy Moley that sounds soo sweat!! Was looking at a bassman Ltd reissue but dam! Must I save for a lifetime for the original lol!! Great demo!
This is the only clean tone I've heard that it so good it made me smile.
Wow riff at 2:55 gave me the chills. Hats off.
Aaah, beautiful playing my friend! not to mention the beautiful tone as well!
i'll say it too great tone, beautiful amp and guitar. Well done man!
Sounds incredible and you played it very well.

that has got to be the best guitar tone I have ever heard. Great playing too. Thanks for posting.
Dude, this is killer!! Great sounding vid, thx for posting.
An incredible amp indeed
angels singing
Best amps ever. U can see why Mr. Marshall chose this circuit.
Sounds lovely. Compression, most likely courtesy of the video camera audio system ...
Why don't new Fender amps sound like this? You are lucky. Wonderful amp. Great video because it shows what ALL the new Fender amps lack.
usually fender amps are useless in a band situation but this one seems to be the real deal on tone bottom end push and signal break up
+dji zzah fender amps are phenomenal in band situations what are you talking about
+WillPhippsMedia good if you are miking up or recording but unmiked three piece for example they get lost in the mix thats where your class a marshall with a quadbox pushes a lot of air and gets grunty bottom end better than the fenders
The TONE of this amp is amazing. The TONE. New Fender amps don't sound like this.

Congrats. Great playing & outstanding amp too. Let me know whenever you decide to sell it!
What is great about this demo - putting aside the great amp - is the tasteful playing
that amp is Tone Heaven !! I love it ..you can play any style of music through that amp, I have a reissued and it dosent sound anything like this at all lol
Sounds absolutely superb and harmonics too @t 2:08 - don't usually hear this in these type of demos 👍
Awesome vibibrato , sounds at times like a Tremlo . Beautiful
I'm impressed by the Cristal sound of that
