It was that millstap video that caused my Son and I to purchase a '59 Bassman Clone. Such a great amp that does it like no other amp, and yes, its pretty heavy. Great content, thank you James
@@what1864 Yeah, I agree with you 100%. And to be honest, once the Bassman is really cranked the magic appears, so very satisfying. Thankfully, many of the clone Bassman are really faithful reproductions at only a fraction of the cost.
@@what1864 I'd like to recommend this video, good playing, however the Bassman is the real star of this video. A must listen (IMHO). th-cam.com/video/Y0r1kVXSX3Q/w-d-xo.htmlsi=XkhUrGgy926-iX_E
The Fender Bassman seems to be where Rock amplification really started. So many amps were built on that basis…! Nice playing and combo with that Strat of yours. Cheers
That's some heavy blues you got there. Agonizing hangover after a really bad breakup sounds like a beach day compared to this. Great tone. Bassman is a legendary piece of kit.
You seem right at home already with the Bassman and that wonderful Strat, James. The combination sounds superb with your tasteful playing. I'm really looking forward to a comparison with the Marshall.
Awesome, James! Thanks sharing this magnificent amp with us! I primarily play a strat through a 1965 Bandmaster with a matching 2x10 open back cab I had built for it. No reverb on the Bandmaster either so I’ve been on a journey to find the best option. I have found the Surfy Bear Classic INCREDIBLE for true spring reverb if you decide you don’t want to embark on a 6G15 build. Convenient size and weight by comparison and very similar in sound. Cheers! 🍻
Stunning toneage! Looking forward to hearing more of this amp and more about it. I think my Peavey Classic 100watt head is based on the Bassman but run's 8, yes 8 EL84. It's great on a cold day lol
It sounds sooo good in this recording, what must it feel and sound like to play in the room. Stunning James and any question over the guitar colour is over in a flash. It looks fab and has plenty of finish left on it to admire. Dale Wilson is without doubt the best Fender has to offer in terms of relic jobs (and their custom shop period IMO). Rock on 👌
I can't get one of these, but I am playing through a SuperSonic 60W on the Bassman side! The Vibrolux side is beyond bright. Makes you wonder if one of these is sitting in some obscure pawn shop somewhere. Then again Joe B. would probably have already found it😂
@@JamesOnGuitar Naw, its a keeper. I've been collecting amps, one of each classic. So far my Son and I have a 50W Plexi, a Silverface Twin, AC30 and now the '59 Bassman. Only amps left on our list are a Blackface Deluxe Reverb and a Tweed Deluxe. Turn it up!
Absolutely floored! Care to share the settings and mics you used? Hoping to replicate it with my Bassman LTD and Ox box but your reverb also sounded very dialed in!
Hey James, great video - are you able to get any more details on the speaker switch mod? I can't find any details on this from my searches and I'm interested in doing it! Cheers!

Truly one of the greatest amplifiers of all time.
I still go back to those Millstap bassman videos… spine tingling stuff. Congrats man, it is definitely the sound! 👍

Fantastic amp, can't wait for more on this!

Mine is all original and was serviced by George Alessandro. It’s the best amp I have ever owned or heard.
These kind of tones are all over Buddy Guy's Sweet Tea album, especially "Baby, Please Don't Leave Me" and "I Gotta Try You, Girl."
Buddy was likely using a Chicago Blues Box Buddy Guy Signature model, which was built using his old 59 Bassman. I have one. It’s an amazing amp.
No ! Buddy sounds more alive and less muddy.
Amazing amp mate! Congrats, Bassman are fantastic. Deffo a keeper! :)
Great playing as ever👌🏼
Really enjoyed the video. Im working my way through your others. I wish I had your guitar collection very impressive. Great channel 👍🏻
It’s like a Time Machine that style and the amp, lovely

I really hope you hang onto that Strat. It suits your style very well and has its own vibe.
Thank you - yeah, zero thoughts of ever moving this one 😊

I was lucky enough to own one, now it’s in the hands of an great guitarist family🎸

* building a Fender reverb unit - sounds super interesting, can’t wait for that video
Great amp! Where is the follow up video?
Ohoh… the two rocks are great.. but this hits even harder 🎉😂
Tbh all other amps are in danger of finding their way out the door! 😂😬
@@JamesOnGuitar I’ve got a 54 Tweed deluxe and a 67 deluxe reverb… guess I need a Bassman too XD
It sounds that good! Crazy!

TR are fantastic, but these are a completely different vibe. This is a classic "play loud and proud" type of amplifier.

Will def do in the next video 👍🏼👍🏼
What a fantastic video have a great weekend also stay safe
my favorite amp and the 335 my favorite guitar.

Love it!
Sounds amazing
Where is the external reverb?
Great depth ,Tony Joe White used one at times I think
Great tone
Cranke the bright channel !!!
Outstanding
Great amp, nice playing and sound. Which reverb pedal are you using sounds fantastic. Thanks
I think this is the one for you!
best amp ever
See no pedals no hype gear and that's Hendrix tone. No voodoo for that voodoo child tone.
FENDER BASSMAN AND STRATOCASTER THE UNBEATABLE TWO
Why reverb dude, WHY???
