    Bassman 70 (77-83)----Fender switched back to the blackface era cosmetics some time in 1980. Bassmans produced between late 1980 and 1983 have a black control panel and silver sparkle grille cloth.

    All that I know about the Bassman is that Mike Ness of Social Distortion uses modified 1967 Fender Bassman amps with Marshall reissue 4X10 cabs with P90 equipped Les Paul's to get his tone. I had a Fender Mustang modeling amp and the Bassman setting was my favorite tone that it had.

    This isn’t a blackface in the normally accepted sense. It’s probably from the 80s, when Fender produced several amps with the black panel - like the Concert, the Fender 30 etc - but these are not ‘blackface’ amps. The real blackface amps preceded the silverface amps in the 60s. Whilst this is maybe ~40 years old, it does have a black panel, and it might sound great, it is not a ‘vintage blackface’.

  • @yobaby14
    @yobaby14 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    @Alan McDonald called it right. This isn't a true Blackface. It's merely a later release with a black face plate and a different font for "Bassman". It also uses the ultralinear transformer, which are somewhere between very costly to impossible to mod, from what I understand.

  • @lightinme217

    I have a 1968 Silver Face and a 1965 Black Face. There is also a early 60's Brown face which is right after the Holy Grail 1959 Bassman. All these amps are super special and price wise (except for the 59 Bassman) they are still very reasonable in cost to own. My goal is to pick up the Brown-face at some point and my collection will be done. For classic rock they can do the job quite well. My Wet Dry Wet rig is the 2 Bassman's I own in stereo with my Marshall JCM2000 dry in the middle. Wow!! what a sound :) A great speaker choice for this amp in a 12" would be the JBL D131, Jensen Vintage C12N or I use in a lot of my fender's the Neo Cream back's. I own all these speakers and they sound great with these old amps. If you have a 2x12 cab one of my favorite setups is the Jensen C12N with a Green back both are 8ohm speakers wired to be Parallel 4ohm (which is a match for these old Fenders) This cab is great for RocknROLL! As always thanks for the great videos!

    • @theirritatedirishman5440
      @theirritatedirishman5440 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@igorbogdanoff6751 : No the entire EV speaker thing came from Cesar Diaz. The only amps that retained the JBL’s were 2 of the 3 15 inch Vibroverbs. When I traded him the amp it still had the original Oxford speakers in it. It did have D-120F JBL’s because I was a Duane Allman fanatic and I was close friend’s with Gregg. I didn’t know Duane due to the fact that I was 4 years old when he passed away. I had one of Duane’s rigs partially and that went back to Gregg through John who was the head roadie at the time. Long story on that gear it was during the Gregg Allman Band days before the ABB reunited. By the way it’s the EV Force series mostly that Cesar installed in Stevie’s amps which is a completely different sound & feel than an EVM12-L. It’s softer and gives a little bit not as stiff or as bright sounding so it was perfect for the Fender amps Stevie loved because most of the amps he used were 40 watts at best.

I wasn’t even 25 yet and worked with so many great musicians. I was working with Ken Fischer from Train Wreck and Dennis Kager from Sundown amps. Actually leaning more not so much working. The American Showster guitars were being built is my mother’s basement in New Jersey. Kenny’s days were actually early on for me some of the first because I hadn’t attended luthier school yet in Arizona where I was roommates with Joe Naylor who owns and operates Reverend Guitars.
