    I discovered your channel when searching gluten free dark soy sauce. It was great! This almond bread looks simple and delicious. I had to look up the difference between vanilla essence and vanilla extract. One of my resolutions is to make homemade vanilla extract. I guess I would use less extract since it’s stronger?

    Question regarding using almond flour I’m a first time utilizer. I keep seeing people or recipes that state use Xanthan Gum to bond the bread. Does it really work and I saw u didn’t use it which excites me because I don’t wanna be complicated but is it necessary for maybe other breads?

    • @laurafordesvideos
      @laurafordesvideos  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Xanthan gum is used to create that glue if you will. But in the way I did the bread you can see that I did not need it. Give the recipe a try and let me know how it turned out.

      Xantham gum works excellently in baked goods such as cookies, cakes, and pastries, but not so much for bread. I use psyllium husk for my breads which really helps to both bind and rise the bread perfectly. :)

    ok so you said : 1 cup flour, 2 tsp powers and vanilla, 1/4 cup melted butter and SOME maple syrup. all the ingredients are specific amounts but maple is SOME.
    what does some mean?

    • @laurafordesvideos
      @laurafordesvideos  ปีที่แล้ว

      Everyone has different levels of sweetness that they can tolerate. So for I cannot take much sweet so I would always use less whereas you may prefer more sweetness, so as I always tell people cooking or baking is customizable adjust to suit your preference. So SOME could mean more for one person or less for another but looking at the video one can see visually how much I put as per my preference. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

    Looks simple to try; I have organic agave so will use that instead of maple syrup. Is this a dense bread?

    • @laurafordesvideos
      @laurafordesvideos  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would say yes and no. Yes because it is not as airy as a regular gluten bread that has yeast in it, but at the same time not too dense as almond flour is a bit light. Yes agave is another option as well. As I always say, I just provide ideas and each one can make it their own. Thanks for watching!

      Please don't worry about cholesterol from eggs. If you are not alergic, you can eat 5 eggs a day. Check out functional Dr also. For ex. Dr Ekberg and many others. We eat many eggs every day and have no pb. My mom is vegetarian and has high cholesterol, from past stress mainly and eat zero eggs for 10+ years. Now she got it. Just another view:). Good luck.

      I have never tried it with yeast because I am sensitive to yeast. Try that and see what happens, I don't know how it will turn out but the only way to know is to try.

    Unfortunately this recipe didn’t work out for me. I used 1 cup of almond flour but looks like you have more than 1 cup.

      Sorry to hear that. I made it all the time and never had an issue, but thanks for watching nevertheless.

    I totally screwed this up. Read on if you want to avoid my mistake..
    First of all, what I had in my pantry for 3 months was not the almond flour I assumed it was, but coconut flour. No biggie, I decided to use it anyway. Next, I did not want to use fake butter margarine crap, so I went with olive oil. No vanilla extract. No maple syrup, so I used raw organic honey. Organic eggs, 4 of them.
    Mixed all the wet ingredients first. Eggs, oil, salt, honey. I added a packet of dry active yeast, because I heard it makes it taste more like bread. At this point, you may be wondering when I added the baking powder... I didn't. Totally forgot!
    I added the flour to my wet concoction, mixed it all together and it came out like the magic moon sand stuff. I molded it onto the bread pan and now I pray.
    Anyway, bread is in the oven now, didn't raise a single bit. I am hoping it tastes amazing and I can come back to this comment and tell you all what a great accident I just made. We'll see.

      Yes certainly tell us how it tasted. Sometimes we can have happy accidents. 😊

      Ok so it's not the best bread ever, but it's edible. After being on keto for a while, I'll eat the whole loaf. Anything that reminds you of bread is fair game. I'm thinking it will be really good toasted. It doesn't taste like anything I've ever had, and yet it's a familiar taste at the same time..

    Has anyone tried to make bread without eggs wheat or dairy? My son is on a very restricted diet. I have bobs red mill gluten free bread flour and it keeps turning out too dense, too moist and doesnt rise much even with yeast? Im only on my second loaf ever. Thankfully my son likes the taste.

      Have you tried just making a flatbread? Flatbreads don’t require eggs. Here are some recipes th-cam.com/play/PL0VEnJEtRFJXGS5VlhAldgmOeNb31o-Ke.html

      If you find an eggless recipe out there, I want you to know that psyllium husk is a great binder and also helps a ton with making the bread rise a lot better as well. Research it and give it a try. You will want to omit probably 1-3 tbsp of flour in substitution of psyllium husk. :)

    Difficult to follow recipe. The Almond flour in your cup turned out 2 cups in my measuring jug. It would be best if you gave your measurements in grams coz that is universal and easy to follow your recipe. Had to give up and search elsewhere ...

    Can I substitute butter with milk?

    • @laurafordesvideos
      @laurafordesvideos  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well keep in mind butter adds flavour as well as texture to your baked goods. If you substitute it it would not be the same, but try it and tell me how it turns out. Thanks for watching!
