Can not wait to pick up mine on Monday ! Been waiting three years to get one . Love everything about it . Simple , kickstart only is cool asf . Super nimble , great looking , and easily a blank canvas for making it your own . Love Yamaha . Only thing is I feel they overpriced it but at least 1,500 bucks. So I waited . Well worth the wait . Saving half the price and only 1600 miles . I do kinda wish it was a 500 cc bike but that’s my only complaint with it . Nice rumble with that thumper engine .
Thank you so much, I really like these kinds of videos, but if you let us know from where you start and where you stop, and how long you travel would be much better, especially the long rides
Question. Is the tailpipe - exhaust on this video stock? It sounds much more throaty with a bottom-end rumble than the one that I am considering. Please advise...
I pick up my SR400 on Friday, from the other coast in NYC. Thank you for your videos, it was a big help in me choosing my first motorcycle! Where did you find that oil thermometer gauge? Tossing that plastic cap is the first thing I'd like to do. Does it read in Celsius or Fahrenheit? Thanks!
Nice Jeffrey, that's my intent with these videos (microphone under seat works best for me). Make sure you follow engine break-in rules, they'll pay off. Also, I took a California Highway Patrol motorcycle course, these should be mandatory to everyone for safe riding fundamentals. Be careful, I underestimated this addiction, peace! www.amazon.com/gp/product/B010144DC0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Im looking for a 1st bike and i really like the sr, but am worried that it might be underpowered for my weight. (Im 190) how does it handle at highway speeds? Are you able to overtake cars easily if need be? Thanks
I'm 170, taken her to 80mph before feeling engine strain, but still had more torque left. I wish she weighed more than 400 lbs for 2-lane highways to minimize shaking from crosswinds of oncoming trucks. Never planned on taking her on interstate, you won;t be able to throttle out of a situation. Perfect 1st bike for me.
Love the sound... So it has enough over-taking power left when on a 70mph limit motorway with hills? You know, if you have to stretch to 75-78mph up hill (you know if there is trucks that need passing)... What year model is your bike? Is it a stock muffler?
No need, 75 mph is butter, with another k of revs left, just make sure to follow engine break-in rules and valve adjustment if needed, worth the wait to build up to 75mph.
Yes you are from the valley, Modesto or Fresno? Somewhere in September I'll be station in Lemoore and planing to get a used SR. I used to have zx7r and ride over 198 west and hwy 245... best of luck and ride safe.
Wow... that sound is just amazing. Sr400 is exactly what a motorcycle looks and sounds like in my head lol
mic is under seat thank you very much
amazing video!

Keep ears open in case you need a valve adjustment, I needed one at 2400 miles
SR400 California picking mine up this weekend. Did the manual come with break in instruction? I'm getting a 2018 with 1 mile.
Sounds like a real motorcycle.
thank you, microphone was under seat

I'm a bit over 200 and my SR400 does fine. It's not a rocket, but it doesn't pretend to be.
Based on your questions you might want to consider a Hornet 600
What's a comfortable top cruising speed?
60mph
