I believe Calimoto isn't compatible with Android Auto or at least wasn't. It's the one thing that has put me off

I've just tried it. Correct.. Calimoto doesn't work here. Calimoto are the problem unfortunately. They've admitted they're working on it.

Very well written comment. Using words like "gazing" to emphasize your opinion makes me smile. Yes, as I'd said, distracted riding is very dangerous and unfortunately, the ones who do it are the ones who need their concentration the most 😂
I like it as a sat nav and as a preview when I'm working and riding, in case it's important and I need to pull over. I agree with the back to basics bit but each to theor own time moves on and our old a.m push button radios and 8 tracks are long gone. I appreciate your comment. 😊👍

Thank you for the review. I saw this on another TH-cam video, bought it for my son thought it’s got To be too good to be true for that price and wondered if I would ever get it ! it arrived perfectly could not be happier, especially as I spent £570 on a different model (manufacturer ) that almost does the same thing.

Has to be a better solution than sticking your expensive mobile on the bars.

One thing I want to see in every review of an Android Auto or Apple Car Play screen is how easy and well does the display sync to your phone and helmet headset. Some have problems doing that.

    • @RoadcraftNottingham

Nice bit of kit there Russ. Not sure the cameras displaying in front of you are a good idea. At that price definitely a consideration but I'll wait to see the "lesser" version first. 🤔 Stay safe and ride well 🤓

Hi am looking closely at this device as looks to be better quality than most Chinese models. Question for you ,, i saw you used the on screen voice function to request a target destination.. Can you initiate a call by using same on screen voice request? Also can you do a request from your headset. thx J

That looks like a neat bit of kit, I’m very much considering ordering one for my own Pan European 😉. Mine is a 2011 model and doesn’t have that binnacle between the handlebars; in fact the previous owner had already fitted a Ram mount between the handlebars, but I’ve never used it. Bike satnavs are super expensive, and mounting a phone to the bike risks destroying the optical image stabilisation systems that modern smartphone camera systems use.
This seems like a brilliant price, considering you get the display, 2 cameras, and 2 tyre pressure sensors. Even better with your discount code 😁

@@blcollier Thanks, you'll love it, I'm blown away with the quality and backup. My faves are previewing texts without worrying if it's important and the tyre sensors.

    A note about the crash...
This is why one always should keep an eye on the mirrors, a horn might have gotten the sleeping driver to wake up and at least get on the brakes a bit.
At least two times I've managed to get someone that passed a red light to stop by using the horn while behind them before they entered traffic.
Don't hesitate to use the horn to warn people about imminent danger (but never use as "get out of my way")

Sorry, just more extraneous distractions which is the last thing most people need. Interesting review, not knocking you for doing it but no thanks, I personally hate things like this. Call me a Luddite all you like, my motorcycle is the last place I want to be sitting gazing at screens and I just don't get the attraction, fascination or need for them. Riding should provide all the immersion you need or want; if it doesn't, you might as well be sitting comfortably and dry in a car, staring at all your little gizmos and getting all the same "stimulation" you get sitting home on your couch or at your desk.
I'm older now sure, but I just don't get it. Aren't the major draws of motorcycling freedom, adventure, discovery, escapism, being at one with your bike, the open road.....? That's what it always used to be. The perfect time to unplug from what is now referred to as the "grid", what we used to just think of as the noise of life, and exercise your mind and senses and experience some genuine, if temporary, freedom.
Nowadays so many people riding bikes are obsessed with gadgets and technology - phones, GPS, bluetooth intercoms, action cams mounted on every inch of themselves and their bikes, "motovlogging", constant visual and aural distractions, staring at screens just like they do every other place they find themselves in? I'm not claiming that some of these things don't have any benefits at all but what happened to getting on your bike for an impulsive, unplanned ride, just for the sake of riding - no planned destination even, just the thrill of the journey? Making memories is never time wasted and the road has so much to teach you about yourself and so many unique sensations in which to revel and enjoy. Getting "lost" is all part of the joy of the open road and is frequently when you make the most amazing discoveries.
Your bike and the environment provide the sweetest music of all to my motorcycling eyes and ears. When I see people with their "smartphones" attached to their bars and a Satnav app I always wonder - is it really so vital aside from maybe the odd occasion when you need to find a very specific address? In the UK, we have some of the most comprehensive road signage in the world - you as a taxpayer and road user paid for it so use it. What happened to following your nose to all manner of wonderful and unexpected places and experiences - that special stretch of tarmac, that amazing view opening up before you, that wonderful cafe stop or perhaps a food van at the side of the road, listening to the wildlife and the steady tick of your cooling engine, cleaning the flies off of your visor and feeling more alive and at peace than at any other times? Who wants technology to intrude upon such precious time? What happened to just opening the throttle and letting the roads and the journey take you where they will?
Call me old fashioned but reading some people's comments it makes me wonder how on earth I've covered hundreds of thousands of miles over the course of more than four decades with none of these things to "help" me. Once upon a time, no matter the journey's length, you did it with none of these perceived technology "safety nets" that apparently are so vital. As long as you had some money in your wallet, a tank of fuel, a pre-ride check of the basic fluid levels, lights, tyre pressures etc and, space permitting perhaps a road atlas and you were set. Phones didn't exist, GPS neither and "on bike entertainment" (aside from perhaps the Goldwing Owners Club Riders wobbling along on their two wheeled SUV's) was restricted to your own physical and mental sensations and stimulation provided by nature, the road and your machine. I prefer life that way and don't my motorcycling watered down or cluttered with "technology" that has insinuated itself into every aspect of life, often to the absolute detriment of those caught up in its net.

l used google and Maps, however l switched to Tom Tom rider connected to a switchable power source. Also bar mounted via a RAM mount….similar to the featured system. However my RAM mount is fitted with a lockable ball joint. Via a Male/Female locking system…l notice that RAM have changed the design of the lock, but the principal remains the same….As a motorcyclist I’m not so sure having the bike festooned with gadgets…..we are in danger of being distracted as much as many car drives already are….we already have to contend with ‘target fixated’…inattentional blindness, spatial awareness, mobile phone use, much besides…….Los motociclistas son los últimos de los espíritus libres. Feliz Navidad….
